"BLOOD BATH," "WAR ZONE:" Purge Begins at CBS; Biased Trump-Deranged Anchor John Dickerson Out, Gayle King Says She's Leaving, Trump-Deranged and "Geriatric" 60 Minutes Facing Shake-Up

CBS Evening News host John Dickerson -- who Steve Turley on YouTube told me was on the verge of tears when he appeared on Stephen Colbert to talk about the Sad! re-election of Donald Trump -- says he's out as anchor.

Update: Here's Dickerson holding back tears after Trump's re-election.

But he didn't leave of his own accord. He was bum-rushed out of the building.

#ShuterScoop can exclusively reveal that new editor-in-chief Bari Weiss has been quietly squeezing out veteran anchors as part of her radical overhaul of the network's culture -- and Dickerson was the first big casualty.

"Let's be clear -- he didn't quit, he was pushed," says one senior network insider. "Bari is making it impossible for the old guard to stay. She's cleaning house -- aggressively."

Weiss, who built her brand railing against "woke journalism," is clashing with long-time CBS personalities over editorial tone and coverage priorities. "She wants straight talk, not safe talk," says another source. "If you can't keep up with her vision, she'll make sure you want to leave."

The newsroom is now in open revolt. "It's a war zone," says one producer. "People are terrified, whispering about who's next."

Insiders say Weiss is hoping more will follow -- especially Gayle King, whose exit would mark the network's tipping point. "Once Gayle's gone," one exec admits, "the Bari era will be complete."

The Daily Mail says "Gayle King's days are numbered."

And that's just the biggest name mentioned -- 2,000 staffers are set to be fired across CBS as a whole, with 100 to be fired from the third-place basket-case "news" division.

Brutal layoffs are hitting CBS News after its parent company announced a plan to axe more than 2,000 staff across the organization.

New editor-in-chief Bari Weiss acknowledged the cuts on the network's morning editorial call Wednesday, Semafor's Max Tani reported.

Weiss called it a 'enormously difficult day' for the network, according to Tani.

...

The layoffs will include an initial round of cuts on Wednesday that will impact 1,000 staffers across various departments. Another 1,000 are soon to follow, the New York Times reported.

At CBS News, nearly 100 positions will be eliminated, a person familiar with the matter told CNN. The source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the cuts were planned before Weiss arrived at the network.

...

The news comes days after CBS Evening News co-host John Dickerson announced his resignation, ending a stint plagued by poor ratings.

The 16-year CBS veteran had been quietly negotiating his exit for weeks, Status reported. Paramount's merger with Ellison's Skydance in July led to the decision.

Well-connected sources told the Daily Mail earlier this year that executives will 'most likely' not renew longtime CBS Mornings host Gayle King's contract when it expires in May.

The show, hosted by King since 2011, has also suffered from poor ratings.

Wiess also "blindsided" the president of CBS News by picking a former WSJ editor as her top deputy, without consulting him.

CBS News editor in chief Bari Weiss reportedly took the organization's president Tom Cibrowski by surprise as she tapped former Wall Street Journal editor Charles Forelle as one of her top deputies.

Weiss announced the move during a Tuesday morning editorial call, telling staff that Forelle will serve in a deputy editor role for at least a few months, according to a report by Breaker Media that cited unnamed sources.

One bureau and two streaming shows cancelled:

Here's what we know about how the Paramount layoffs are affecting CBS News:

• The South Africa bureau is closing,

• Mornings Plus and Evening News Plus, streaming-only extensions of the morning and nighttime broadcasts, are ending.

UPDATE! CBS Saturday Morning show canceled, hosts fired.

The fact that you didn't know there was a show called CBS Saturday Morning is a clue as to why it was cancelled.

The "Race and Culture Unit" -- which sounds like some DEI commie gobedlygook -- was "gutted."

Jeremy Barr
@jeremymbarr

One CBS News staffer described the cuts as a "blood bath."

I've also heard that the Race and Culture unit was "gutted."

You might remember Scott Pelley giving a sanctimonious college graduation speech warning that free speech is dead because CBS settled with Trump over his 60 Minutes/Kamala Harris interview lawsuit.

Well, he's next on the list. Weiss is also looking to "shake up" the biased 60 Minutes -- and fire the sanctimonious left-wing Priest of Progressive Politics Scott Pelley.

The clock may be ticking for top talent at "60 Minutes".

CBS News editor in chief Bari Weiss is looking to shake up the iconic TV news magazine -- and casualties could include any number of the show's star anchors, The Post has learned.

The 41-year-old newshound was tapped this month to restore "balance" to the Tiffany Network's news unit, according to David Ellison, CEO of CBS owner Paramount Skydance -- and insiders say she believes "60 Minutes" has drifted too far to the left, sources said.

Among Weiss's rumored targets, according to insiders, is Scott Pelley. The anchor slammed CBS's then owner Paramount in an on-air tirade this summer for inking a $16 million settlement with President Trump over allegations that "60 Minutes" "deceptively edited a Kamala Harris interview.

Likewise, Bill Whitaker, the correspondent who conducted the controversial Harris interview, may also be in the crosshairs after he was criticized for throwing softball questions and not vetting what was aired, sources said.

"Bari isn't wrong to try to bring in new people," said a CBS source, noting that Pelley and Whitaker are 68 and 74, respectively. "Most of the show's correspondents and its viewers are geriatric."

But don't worry, CBS isn't just firing people. They're also looking to hire people.

Last week a rumor went around that Bari Weiss, now editor-in-chief of CBS News, was looking to poach Bret Baier, presumably to anchor their basement-rated evening news cast.

I don't think that's true and I wouldn't want to see that happen anyway. Bret Baier? Is this the best we can do? We don't even like him on Fox.

But this might be more solid: the New York Post reports she's looking to poach CNN's sole Republican, Scott Jennings, to be a commenter on the network.

The two met at the Tiffany Network's New York headquarters last week, according to the news site Semafor.

...

The Post reported on Monday that John Dickerson, co-anchor of the "CBS Evening News," is leaving the network at the end of the year.

Dickerson, who will continue to co-anchor the nightly newscast with Maurice DuBois until his departure, is set to exit as the entire news division at CBS braces for a round of painful job cuts.

..

Given that Jennings is not a full-time employee at the network, he is free to meet with anyone, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

A CNN spokesperson declined to comment. The Post has sought comment from Jennings, CBS News and Weiss.

...

Earlier this year, Los Angeles Times owner Patrick Soon-Shiong revealed that he reached out to [Jennings] about a possible role with the newspaper's "LAT Next" media venture.

...

David Ellison-owned Paramount Skydance hired Weiss for the top editorial job at CBS News with the mandate of making the network more "balanced" and "fact-based."

The 41-year-old exec, who sold her Free Press newsletter to Paramount for a reported $150 million, is eager to put her stamp on the news division in the face of skepticism from rank-and-file staffers.

Norah O'Donnell, who left "CBS Evening News" earlier this year, met with Weiss and is being discussed as a possible candidate to reclaim her old job, The Post reported earlier this month.

Ugh. I sure hope that this "reformer" isn't looking for a retread.

Scott Jennings would be a great get for CBS.

And it would be good for conservatives. For one thing, many more people would actually see him dismantling libtards on TV.

For another thing, without Scott Jennings drawing eyeballs to CNN clips, Abby Philips would see what her real value is: None. None value. I would say that her ratings would fall but her ratings are already in the basement with Jennings. But with Jennings, her stupid retard-show gets internet eyeballs on Jennings clips.

The ratings-challenged communist Lawrence O'Donnell must have heard about this rumor because he went on air to attack Jennings and attack CNN for even having a Republican commentator on staff.

"And now CNN eagerly pays a Trump supporter to lie on CNN every day and night for Donald Trump," O'Donnell said. "CNN did this during the first Trump presidential campaign and presidency. CNN regularly paid Trump supporters to lie about Trump on CNN."

"But then CNN got a new head. The head of CNN for the last three years, hired by the Trump-supporting owner and operator of CNN, is an Englishman who thinks paying Scott Jennings to lie about Donald Trump is money very well spent," O'Donnell added. "Scott Jennings, who used to be an aide to Senator Mitch McConnell, was not always a rabid, lying Trump supporter."

88 John Dickerson is a tool. I've been following him ever since his days at Slate, and the Slate Political Podcast with him, Emily Bazelon (the dumbest lawyer I've ever heard) and David Plotz (even though he's a big lib, married to an even bigger lib, he was the best thing on that podcast). His 'Go For The Throat' article in Slate was the single worst piece I'd ever seen on that teen webzine - and that's saying something.

The fact that he even had a 16-year career at CBS is a mystery only exceeded by how Stephanopoulos has a career at ABC.

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Some times it shows up as a party that has always been too afraid to fight learning that if they don't fight with people who want to crush them and take their voice they will lose everything. We have been seeing that in Congress for the last year and even moreso over the last month.

461 Hey CBS staffers, now you know how it feels to probably getting forced out of your job, just like Bari did at the NYT for being too "Jewish."

And Dickerson has the worst reading voice I've heard. They should probably use AI for that half hour teleprompter reading show. Let Jennings and Baier (Yes, I like him) do what they do best, interview and comment.

464 I've always hated CBS Sunday Morning. I started calling it Yuppie Church around 1980. Pretentious, phony highbrow swill.

That's the one which used to run segments from Charles Kuralt, and which was hosted by some fellow in a bow tie, right?

Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at October 29, 2025 04:26 PM (omVj0)

Charles Kuralt WAS the original host. Charles Osgood replaced him.

469 Hadn't watched Pelley in years, but noticed recently that he has adopted a strange, sanctimonious verbal reflex of speaking sentences more slowly, as if he had convinced himself that his every utterance conveyed deep insights of momentous significance.

470 Charles Kuralt. I had forgotten about him. He traveled all over the country for "normal"Americans stories. Turned out to be a bigamist with wives and families on both coasts.

471 It's sad that journalists are "stunned" by these firings. If you're the coach of the Jets, or any hapless sports team, would you be "stunned" by your firing?
These organizations are bleeding red ink and losing customers. Do they think that's irrelevant?

I cannot watch any video of Pedo Walz. His mouth disturbs me. I can't think of anyone I have ever seen who is so repulsive and his very being screams that he diddles young children. Revolting.

Posted by: ChristyBlinkyTheGreat at October 29, 2025 05:01 PM (j5WMt)

474 I forgot to add that I hope the hero, Gayle, gf of Okra, gets canned. She's also repulsive. Just go hang out with your rich lover if you can stand her anal leakage from her diet drug.

475 "war zone" "bloodbath" "gutted"

Typical lefty drama queefs using violent words to describe a mild inconvenience. This kind of violent language needs to really only be used when necessary and not when some rich fag can no longerr purchase smart glasses while surfing reddit for "news"

Now, a car waiting outside to run all these fuckers over, would produce a bloodbath.

See the difference lefties?

Now shut your face, pack your trash, and get the fuck out.

Posted by: melodicmetal1 at October 29, 2025 05:23 PM (XLfSN)

476 One CBS News staffer described the cuts as a "blood bath."

I've also heard that the Race and Culture unit was "gutted."

478 Look, fire every staff person over 65. There are 30-year-old reporters that would sacrifice a left nut to be on the air, in the big chair. And you can save yourself a few million $.

I think journalists vastly overestimate their actual value to the viewers. No one give a shit who the news reader or reporter is - make them look good and have a nice voice.

"The clock may be ticking for top talent at "60 Minutes"."

Define the term "top Talent".

480 Look, assume you want to be successful. Why not express both sides of the question, left and right? the Mclaughlin report did that for years and years. It was highly entertaining watching both sides go at it.
