Jumping a Harley is stupid … at best. Modern dirt or Enduro bikes have fully articulated deep stroking (no jokes pliz) shocks that make jumps almost routine. The MFer was crazy. He was cool though. My parents didn’t think so.
Every kid with a bike started jumping everything. We had a nice hill in our parents backyard, and we setup a ramp and set it on fire before making the jumps. My suspicion is, Emergency Room visits spiked anytime ole Evel made another jump on ABC. LOL

I have photos of piles of maple leaves every October, but with grandchildren diving in vs a doggie. They are insane. We plan this again this weekend with a cousin of theirs. I have requested they wear swim goggles as our girl got a bit in her eye last weekend.
Love Brad Paisley, and, yeah, I know he has a liberal stripe. However he seems very grounded, married to the wife of his youth, very funny, and a nice guy. He knew he wanted to marry Kimberley the first time he saw her in a movie. Would love to see him someday if we can.

Finally!!! I think I can announce that True Fall has arrived in east Nebraska. We had False Fall around the beginning of September, but that was trod upon by Second Summer. The high today was around 50°, and the next ten days looks similar. No hard freeze yet, though, leaving those of us with allergies with crossed fingers, crossed toes, crossed arms, crossed legs, and crossed anything else that can be crossed.

This really depends on the market - if houses are selling quickly, it might not matter. A cash offer is always going to be more attractive due to the lack of complexity if there are multiple equal or close to equal offers. I would get a buyers agent to help you with this, so you get true comps, etc. For reference, we took the cash offer on our house in NJ when we moved back here, but it was still 10% above asking, because the market was insane.

The only time I was goosed, on a sidewalk, dusk, and across the street of a park near the university. I reacted with instant blind rage. A frat boy, and I chased him after trying to hit his head with the lid of a cast iron Dutch oven I was carrying. Long story I will spare you all.
I immediately yelled, "You bastard!" and gave chase. The lid weighted me down and I should have dropped it or thrown it at him...and then caught him and beat him to a pulp. My male apt mates made me call the police and I am sure the policeman enjoyed reporting this to his fellow cops.
Back then I did not cuss as much as I do in my brain now, which I need to change before I get senile.
At least I know I will fight from that lesson.

I've been seeing articles to the effect that house prices have been dropping, houses are staying longer on the market, etc etc. But. Details will depend on your *local* market. Do you have a realtor or do you not want to pay any commission at all? Consider a *buyer* broker, or maybe even a real estate attorney.

Unless the house you want to buy is vendor-financed, all sales are cash to the vendor. Normally you owe the mortgage to the bank, not the vendor.
I would suggest you ask the realtor who is handling the sale of the parental home. He/she should know the state of the local market and how low you can lowball without it being considered an insult.

Yeah, spend to money for a pre-offer inspection, title search and lot boundaries. If you end up making an offer, it's better to have no surprises. If you find serious problems, then you can adjust your offer accordingly if you are willing to spend the cash to fix them.

We found our inspector to be retarded. I think they get paid no matter what by the realtor (whom we loved).
The deck was so wobbly it was the first thing replaced with the furnace/AC and roof (unexpected as we bought the house during a snowy spring after seeing the inside). Inspections are much tougher in Floriduh where we moved from last.
We replaced everything over 3yrs in spurts of insanity. Thank goodness that is over with! A big enough house we could escape to during the bad parts, and it got very bad at times.

I moderated an parish wide Town Hall today with the subject being do we take the next steps investigating building a new Parish Life Center. We think the metal tracks are warped. They need to be either worked on or replaced.
We live in a remote area and finding someone to fix stuff like that is impossible.

Sounds like they may be vinyl replacement windows, but I'm not sure I ever saw any with metal tracks. Usually the tracks are vinyl and there some kind of tube looking mechanism that holds the spring. I'm asking because sometimes I ran across replacements that were done and shimmed on the sides way too much literally squeezing the window to where it couldn't be moved. I have seen some replacement windows years ago that did actually have a metal/aluminum track, but it wasn't a self contained replacement. You got 2 tracks and 2 sashes and installed it all into the original jambs, but those didn't have any moving parts. If they are actual vinyl replacements with damaged mechanisms it "could" be a bitch to find parts depending on the style and age. I did 100's of windows in my time. If I saw it I could tell you immediately whats going on, but from here I'm only guessing.

If it is a ball or roller bearing, you can get a new one from a bearing supply house. They are very standardized. Even the part numbers track from brand to brand. A 6201 is a 6201 is a 6201. 'Bout the same as flashlight batteries. If you can get the old bearing out, there should be a number on it you can search. Worst case? Measure I.D., O.D., thickness, and note presence of shields or seals. Nearly all ball and roller bearings are dimensioned in metric units, and have been for decades.

This is why the Pediatric Academy started frowning on teaching babies to swim, after I'd already taught our sons. Because some nitwits kept dunking the babies too much vs 2-3 times, the babies swallowed a ton of water, and their sodium levels went low and they died.
It is because of complete idiots that children went on to probably drown vs float. Mine at least, as babies, could come to the top of the water, flip over on their backs and/or swim to the side before they were two yrs old.
Both of our parents had pools, we lived in FL with water everywhere at the time, and I am a good swimmer. Drowning was not an option. Our toddler did fall into one of the pools once but knew what to do as I snatched him out within seconds. All it takes is one second and they can fall in.

We replaced all of our blasted windows along with everything else. They are pretty fast when they do it and the first were replaced during a cold rainstorm and snow. Which was cold, but worth it. We did it in two swoops. PITA, but lowered heating and cooling bills.
We'd been here about 2yrs when a lot of rain from the south caused leaks on all of the south windows. A fine mess. Those were replaced first.
The most recent are triple paned facing north. A lotta windows in this house. I think last spring. Either Anderson or something else, and look for sales.
In our first very small house in FL my husband replaced every old jalousie window one weekend when I was at work and he had the 4 and 2yr old chimps. At one point he did find the baby hanging out of one. I figured it would be a mess with bats flying in at night, but he got it done somehow!

Second son wanted to be a big boy like his brother and father. Unfortunately he discovered he could pee at the beach one day at 18mo. This led to me seeing him in the backyard wanting to pee outside vs inside. He finally figured it out.
Then came the pee wars and an eventual replacement of their toilet.
I have read of women, who seem to be hippies, letting their kids run around nekkid to potty train. Done in a weekend I read!
This might work but what happens when they wear clothing? I also was not keen on what happened if it failed as life was hard enough at the time. The juggle was real.

Reverse osmosis devices have sort of obviated the problem, but they are slow at best, and expensive. I read a book called “The Raft” about 3 navy aviators who ditched at sea and spent a month in a very small raft in the pacific. They were baked in the sun like broiled lobsters. They would soak up brackish rainwater in a shirt and try to drink that once in a while. Dixon, Aldrich, and Pastula were their names.

Never used it on any of the project where I was lead. Had project meetings MWF, with progress reports due in my inbox by Friday. I'd summarize, send it up the chain, and cc everyone in the project. Of course a wiki is better if you have remote workers, but we were doing hardware which doesn't lend itself to remote as easily as software.

It does. I replaced that first, since it was cheap and easy to replace. Not sure the seal on its vacuum line is tight, but it is new.

I think you are right. At least the tank on this one is relatively small. I replaced fuel pump on my wife's Yukon XL a while back, and that was quite a wrestling match! Friend of mine with a Yukon XL told me he cut a hole in the floorpan to do his. Heh.

Not knowing which model Jeep, I am at a loss there. I can tell you my '88 Chevy pickup loses fuel pressure, accompanied by a trace of fuel odor. Must be a pinhole leak somewhere on the pressure side. It's been like that for literally years. Crank engine for one second. Leave key on, wait about 5 seconds, crank engine again, and it fires right up, every time. As long as the work-around is so easy, I am not even going to attempt to fix it. If it starts losing enough fuel to leave a puddle, I will, though.

Yes....it had one o-ring, a spacer, then another o-ring. I confess that I dropped the spacer in the engine compartment and replacsd it with another o-ring of (about?) the right size. Doesn't leak, at least.

O-ring, spacer, O-ring? Maybe the regulator is leaking internally, bypassing back to the tank via the return line. That spacer was there for a reason.

The spacer is whats giving the crush to seal the o-rings. Replacing it with an o-ring isn't really giving any crush to the 2 original o-rings. Its just a cushion at that point.

'87? Throttle-body fuel injection? Betcha it's a leaky injector. Bleeds down, floods the engine when warm, and makes it hard to start. You could try a can of fuel injector cleaner, or Sea Foam. Only costs a few dollars. I have never attempted to clean EFI injectors on the bench; don't know if it can be done.

Applicable to both EFI and carbureted gasoline engines, and assumes the ignition system works.

Sounds like the problem I had with my Renault. Turned out to be a fault in the starter module. If I was at highway speed, fine. Go into town and have it stop cold and not start until the engine cooled down.

The worst part was cleaning all the crud out of the throttle body and intake. Oh, and trying to work outside in the freaking hot summer sun during the day, and then giving up & working at night with 1000watt worklight... ugh.

Yeah, guys the Jeeps in pull a part places here are.often pretty-will picked-over, but definitely with a look. Also there is a place that specializes in old Jeep parts up in Colorado Springs that has damned-near everything (except a rear wiper motor - nobody has those). Odd thing is that there was not a spacer in the old fuel.pressure regulator. Anyhow, taking out and cleaning injectors.looms.lime a good thing since I have never done that. Never a wasted day if you learn something.

Did some hours on the Avanti today. Moving the main underhood wire harness from the left side to the right side, to follow the alternator, which also migrated. This necessitates extending most of the wires with splices. Got two of the thick ones, to both studs on the ammeter, spliced, and two smaller ones, starter crank wire and water temp sender, spliced. There are about six other small ones, several of them not used, but I will splice them anyway, rather than leave them dead-ended inside the harness. That's Bubba stuff. One wire, I did clip short at both ends, the ignition resistor bypass to the starter solenoid. Engine has HEI dstributor now, so not needed. The other ones, I don't know what they were for, but if it turns out I need them, they will be available at the end of the wire loom.

Yep. That's probably the way to do it! This is a little confusing on efi versus throttle body injection. I see six connections from the fuel rail to the cylinder head, each also connected to a wiring harness. That means efi, right? Otherwise, it would look more like a cabueretor and one fuel connection, right? Yet Duck.ai and Brave.ai argue otherwise.

Injection (IMO) is injection. As opposed to carburetion. I suppose it differs in what triggers the electrical signal to the injectors? ??
I have a 'noid light' kit. You connect to the harness, at each injector, and it lights up to indicate whether the injector is getting the electrical signal.
