The Humpday Before Halloween Cafe

halloweenatwhitehouse.jpg
From the First Lady's twitter account

This cat might be a witch.

The "stop touching me/I'm not touching you" game, as played by dogs.

It is the natural drive of every living being to make things fall from great heights.

In a litter of cute puppies, she's the cutest.

Deer wants to join the pack.

When dogs go trick or treating.

Taking a lab puppy with you as you get your car washed.

Antifa the moment they don't have more bodies than the people they're bullying and attacking.

Gray skies are beautiful too. (Sometimes.)

They're rushing to get stars on their bellies.

Serenading a hamster.

I call this fish "Big-Faced Fish."

Humpback whale, with a Standard Half-Naked Woman for scale comparison.

56 I know what size humpback whales are because they are everywhere in Resurrection Bay and come up to feed pretty often. When they come up next to a kayak, you sort of hope the kayaker knows how to upright one after a big wave, because they bring it. But I think I would be more frightened by an orca swimming alongside a kayak. They only do so if they think it would be fun to "play" with.

The year my dad was building the Kenai Airport, in the early '60's, we lived in a pink house trailer in Anchor Park, just up the bluff from the beach. Seven people, two bedrooms. Some bunks in the hall. But it had a fabulous swing set, slide and sandbox, and back then all five kids could just wander around town or down to the beach and nobody batted an eyelash. We found a beluga washed up on the beach and I can still remember what that smelled like. It wasn't roses.

I don't know why people buy the high tech appliances. We just want a dishwasher that has the dials.

Some astronomical happenings tonight. This is the 1st quarter moon tonight, and this lunation is the Beaver Moon. So, we've got a Quarter Beaver up there tonight.

Also, Mercury's greatest eastern elongation is tonight, meaning it's the farthest from the Sun on the evening side. Unfortunately for the Northern hemisphere, altitude above the horizon for us at US latitudes in pretty low, but it would be nice and high in the Southern this cycle. Max altitude doesn't coincide exactly with max elongation, and it depends on latitude, but max altitude around 40N will be a smidge over 8 degrees at sunset around Nov. 1. Pretty low, but seeable with a flat horizon.

But Mercury will be near Mars close to the horizon at sunset. It's raining here, so I can't see shit, but any interested, check it out.

I got one a couple years ago. I was a little concerned that it didn't have a huge capacity that I was used to. So far it hasn't been a problem, but it's only me and her. The thing works great though. I toss work clothes into it and they come out super clean. The spin cycle definitely wrings the water out of the clothes too. But yeah, not a super huge capacity.

Star Trek, like Star Wars, has entered into a ghetto. They are inaccessible to new fans. To understand Star Trek one must watch TOS, then TNG, and all the movies, plus DS9, and then there's the JJ Abrams "reboots" that screwed everything up.

Same with Star Wars. Started with three movies. Then six. Then nine. And TV shows, and other movies, and now no one cares. You have to watch hundreds of hours of film to be current. It's just not worth it.

Blasphemy!

The original trilogy is great. If only George could have let it go, but he couldn't because he had Ex-Wife Issues.

So he recut the originals to spite Marcia and then made new movies, that were All His, nothing to do with Her, and they sucked rocks.

Fun Fact: George's messy divorce was how PG-13 came to exist. He wanted to have a heart ripped out of a chest in the sequel to Indiana Jones and the MPAA was like "that's sick, dude" but the combination of Lucas and Spielberg in their prime forced a rules change.

And of course, while Lucas was getting taken to the cleaners, Spielberg was banging the female lead.

248 I skimmed the posts today and I'm puzzled. Is Ace now identifying as a queer black woman?

In Solidarity with Binder?

He transitioned a day or so ago. Really he's just goofing on the thing that Biden's press secretary, KJP said or wrote about her book. If you look in the sidebar you'll see somewhere:

Latrine John-Pissoir can't explain her book -- an Inside Look at a Broken White House, but she says she means the Trump White House, which she had no inside look at -- even to friendly leftwing media interviewers
Speaking as a black woman and black LGBT woman and black immigrant...
Bonus points all day on Tuesday to anyone who begins all of his or her posts with "Speaking as a black LGBT woman..."

250 "Even Lucas couldn't kill it with his terrible prequels"

Stupid Luke. All that drama when they could've stuck a droid in a shuttle and have it hyperspace through the Death Star.

Otherwise forgettable. But Spielberg was entranced.

253 I'm watching vehicles pouring in for Trump's meeting with Xi and it's really incredible. Trump's team must have 40 vehicles pouring in like a boss to set the stage for his arrival.

It's incredible the difference having a guy who knows the awesome power he has by being the leader of the free world and knows how to use it to benefit not just us but the free world over a corrupt, senile dunce like Biden. You can bet Vlad is watching. We are living in an incredible time.

254 Obama is such a mediocrity. His views on the need for government to regulate opinions are rank stupidity.

Thank heavens that he was so darn lazy. He could have done a lot more damage if he had Trump's energy.

That kid never had a chance, but I like to imagine what Rosie would have to say if Baron Trump got sent to prison,

That thought, shall we say, tempers my sympathy. Rosie O'Donnell is a black-hearted piece of shit.

261 I think the flaming skull should have been on the thread relative to the FBI illegally investigating Congressmen and others based on political affiliation.

Typical and understandable response is that "nothing will happen." I disagree. Nothing will happen on the criminal front. But, that doesn't meant Civil Rights (4th Amendment) wasn't violated on individuals. I could see folks like Peter Navarro, General Flynn, Rudolph Giuliani and others filing Civil Suits.

Oh ho you say. Those idiots have qualified immunity. Except, Congress could vote to strip away that qualified immunity and force the parties in question to defend themselves and pay for it. Direct and purposeful violation of the Bill of Rights is grounds to strip qualified immunity. And, that includes Judge Boasberg who was also the guy signing off on the Carter Page FISA warrant. Even AT&T recognized this latest revelation as illegal and refused the original subpoena. Don't tell me Giuliani wouldn't enjoy that. FAFO.

I think that thread is much more than it seems right now. It has the potential to be something huge if the right people are motivated.

Can you imagine Rosie as your mom? "Mommy Dearest" becomes your best case scenario.

We should always ask for mercy on the children of celebs, who did not pick their parents and have probably gone through horrors we can only imagine.

You're right. It should have had multiple flaming skulls.
