Here's what I hate admitting. NYC will probably just keep chugging along. The reality is he's probably not that different than say De Blasio. Taxes will get raised, cost of living will go up, and most of his more ambitious plans probably never happen because a mayor can't really do them.
I see cities like London and Paris and would think 100% that would just collapse decades ago, but they don't. They're terrible, dangerous places that cost a fortune to live a decent life, but they just keep going.

They will stay there in NYC as a figurehead operation, and the prestige of being in NYC, but they will move a lot of stuff out.
A lot of the big bond houses (most now gone) were going to move out to Connecticut, and they built some big locations out there in the 2001-2007 period (I saw them), but who knows?
My guess is a lot of "Wall Street" moves to Florida, which is already full of NYC escapees.

Yes indeed. They call it the Presidential Emergency Operations Center, now. It can be sealed off, filtered air and all that shit. There is a pretty big underground "bunker" structure under the WH, and a lot of it is secret. In fact, a lot of the public information may be intentionaly disinformation about the layout.
Next door is the Treasury building, and that thing has some very deep, very strong undeground vaults. The PEOC bunker complex connects to that.
There is also some sort of secret tunnels from the West Wing that connects to all that. POTUS can bug out of the Oval Office quickly and get deep underground if need be.
