Seal naps on someone's boat.

Big cats are just big house cats.

Dinner date with a dog.

Cat defends her furtress.

Otter pup (evil) chirping.

She's cute, but she's already a member of the Cat Lady Collective.

Dog gets off leash and lives his life to the full, for about a minute.

Dog just saw The Empire Strikes Back and he's just inspired.

Transformers, roll out.

Good Halloween costume.

A very #Based Halloween display.

I've linked a shorter clip of this very helpful otter before, but this clip has new material (new to me, at least) at the end.

Halloween is the season of Great Justice.

Going back on keto is easy transition though, don’t get “keto flu” like I did at start- think probably because I quickly burn all stored glycogen and body is conditioned now to primarily burn fat/protein.

———

Humans are adapted (or created if you will) to burn fat. Protein is only burned in a serious starvation. This takes a long time. It is important to consume enough protein, for adult males it is closer to 100 grams daily. The USDA claims about half that. Go figure. As we age our bodies do not utilize protein efficiently, so don’t think only bodybuilders need lots of protein.

Very few of them seem to realize they have email addresses stored in several unlinked systems, not just the ONE they know about. Getting them to change email on ALL their systems (at central AND branch locations,) is like pulling damn teeth without an anesthetic.

It's funny. It's justified. BUT, it is, also, highly illegal. And, unless you have your property posted, every single one of those people stealing have an "invitee" status on your property to the front door.

Civil suits don't give a flying eff about your morals and indiscretions. All they care about is liability. And, eventually, one of these thieving geniuses is going to take the hit legally to have a chance at the jackpot in civil court. And guess what? You're insurance company will wash their hands of the entire matter due to an "Intentional act." And, if John Q Homeowner who will be paying for the attorney and any verdict rendered by our lovely jury pools.

Not worth it...but still entertaining.

128 I own a Maine Coon, Tom. When I took him off the street at age six weeks, I thought he was just another orange cat. He quickly grew into a giant Lovebeast, a Cat Dialed Up To Eleven in strength, cunning, and Catitude.

And hair! OMG, the shedding and the hairballs! I should have named him Shed. Or Puke.

When I open a fresh bag of dry chow, all the cats wolf it down. (A bag lasts less than a week, and they don't like it as much when the bag's been open even a day.)

So Tom stuffs himself. Then he goes through all the kitchen cabinets looking to eat something, anything, that will make him barf. He prefers to eat certain plastic films and wax paper as an emetic. I try, not hard enough I guess, to keep him away from that stuff.

Then he vomits it all up, in every room that he isn't locked out of. He's a mobile barfer.

_________

"Hebe" has been considered offensive for a long time.

"'We’re living in a sensitive age, Cuke,” Skeffington had said, 'and I’m not altogether sure you’re fully attuned to it. For example, if the Jewish Businessmen’s Association was having a small get-together and you were to speak at it, I have the feeling that your first story might begin with the words: ‘A little Hebe named Epstein was walking down the street one day...’ Now you may not realize it, but that kind of thing doesn’t exactly bring the Jewish vote swarming to my doors." - Edwin O'Connor The Last Hurrah (1956)

139 Katko v. Briney is the case some entitled porch pirate will use if they try to go after you in civil court and can show injuries. Every single one of the examples on that video above can lead to injuries. The courts value bodily injury above loss of property.

In the Katko case, some farmer was pissed off because a continued rash of burglaries to his uninhabited house, so he set up a trap in one of the bedrooms what would fire a shot gun at knee level if someone opened it. Well, someone did and that guy won $30k back in 1971. Today, it would be high six figure.

The porch pirate would have to show injuries from the glitter bombs or whatever. But, there is no shortage of plaintiff leaning doctors out there.

It's just a risk I wouldn't take regardless of how entertaining and deserved.

My idea to fight porch pirates has always been to enlist neighbors in a package scheme. Just keep a one or two package-looking boxes on your porch at all times. Go ahead and label them "Empty Box, You Fucking Pirate and Smile for Hidden Camera." If everyone in the neighborhood put the empty boxes on their porches, the pirate would have to visit every single porch to find the actual loot. They'd be running from house to house (not suspicious at all, lol) or they'd possibly have to follow delivery trucks and note the addresses that got packages. Huge expenditure of time for possibly getting low-value items.

Even if I built the bomb myself, I don't think I'd want to have a live grenade sitting on my front porch.

And some small fractional percentage of porch piracy is going to be neighborhood kids being pranksters. It's not all DeShauns looking for Fentanyl money.

Eye injuries would be the soup du jour on the glitter bombs. My favorite isn't even a porch pirate trap. Have you ever seen the stolen bicycle ones? They lock a very expensive bike to a poll or even a bike stand and just wait for the usual suspect to show up with a chain cutter. They cut the lock, hop on and try to ride away. They get about 20 yards and the entire bike falls apart because all the screws were loosened or removed. It's hilarious. But, risky.

185 I would suspect eye injuries. Not worth the risk. I had items sent to an Amazon locker when we had a pirate problem which the hood solved.
Sometime in the 1920’s, a NYC transit cop helped a guy board a subway. In doing so, an illegal firework fell from the passenger’s bag, went off, knocked a tile from the ceiling and injured a third party. Courts held NYC liable because the cop knocked the firework out. Platsgraff or something like that. Crazy kraut name.
I knew to quit law right then.

I don’t care for apologia for criminals, particularly because the Law is an Ass, and has ironically brought us to this point. But all this legal minutiae is a legacy of a society that is long, long gone. It was only in a high trust society that valuable items could simply be left on people’s porch in the first place.

So I’m completely unmoved by legal twaddle at rhis point. And to your point - see also “Judgment Proof”

The bottom feeder attorneys only go after people with money in the first place. Nobody GAF about thieves and looters, we are returning to the default whether we like it or not. The justice system is broken, sabotaged, whatever. Get used to seeing more of this.

Often linked databases have a level that informs all the dependent layers, and quite often a representative or cube-rat only works in one level, and is only accustomed to the work layer he or she works in, which leads to frustration when any change is merely local, instead of global in the system. Especially if it is strictly compartmentalized and the operator doesn't have access to the other areas.
This is made worse when varying types of data are mastered at different layers or location, because sometimes even IT hasn't a clue.

A strong naval presence is necessary.

Scattering military bases across the globe while our civilian foreign service foments war after war, and our political class ensures we lose them all, is most assuredly not.

OH, and in case the incompetence in the Louvre heist was bad, it just got worse.

The gendarmes say that whoever on the force revealed that suspects were arrested blew their case with this premature revelation. They hadn't finished interrogating the suspects they had, they were hoping to find more perps, and they were definitely hoping to recover the loot. Thanks to the at-large perps now being alerted that the others were in custody, they've probably fled and hidden the loot.

It is from Shakespeare.

There seem to be a few different definitions but the core idea is this - You are saying "fuck you" and "wanna fight, you little bitch?"

It's an insult and a challenge to a fight rolled into one.

268 “Isolationist” is a carefully curated pejorative from about 1940. It was coined that way. Intended that way. Brought to you (probably) by the same folks who coined “Conspiracy Theory” to those who were at least a mite skeptical of the whole JFK murder and the Warren report.

Anyhoo, they sanctioned Japan, froze assets, cut off their oil (Japan has no natural resources of her own) thus guaranteeing an attack sooner or later.

Right or Wrong - Does that sound “isolationist” to you? Does that sound “Non Interventionist”? (a somewhat more accurate term, if not one of sneering opprobrium). I don’t think so, because it isn’t.

Re the bunker. Apparently there is a 5 story structure under the North Lawn of the White House. According to Grok, during preparations for this Ballroom construction, some safety study data involving something about ground penetrating radar used to detect all the utility stuff around the WH layout was leaked. It didn't seem that bad, but it analysis of it showed massive voids under the North Lawn.

There is a investigation going on about the breach -- this has been planned a while, and that leak was in April of this year.

What amazes me is nothing has been mentioned in the mainstream press about this. But it's out there, as Grok knew all about it.

To clarify it wasn't a "leak", just some sloppy release of information that shouldn't have been -- the GSA was the one that did, at least according to Grok.

Remember a sinkhole that developed in the North Lawn in 2018? That was due to that massive digging and structure that was built. It was done in the Big Dig in 2010 - 2012. Barky's basketball court or whatever it was the cover for that. When you're going to be excavating massive amounts of dirt, well, you've got to have some excuse for all the truck traffic.
