Federal Grand Jury Indicts Decarlos Brown Jr. for His Demonic Butchery of Iryna Zarutska, on Death-Penalty Eligible Charges

A federal grand jury on Wednesday indicted 34-year-old Decarlos Brown Jr., the career criminal accused of brutally stabbing Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska to death aboard a Charlotte light-rail train in August. Brown faces federal charges of violence against a railroad carrier and a mass transportation system resulting in death -- offenses that make him eligible for the death penalty.

Brown, who has a criminal history stretching back nearly two decades, was arrested immediately after the attack and has remained in custody. Records show at least 14 prior arrests in North Carolina for assault, firearm possession, robbery, and larceny since 2007.

The killing of Zarutska -- who fled war-torn Ukraine in 2022 seeking safety in the United States -- sparked national outrage and bipartisan calls for justice. President Donald Trump weighed in on Truth Social, writing: "The ANIMAL who so violently killed the beautiful young lady from Ukraine, who came to America searching for peace and safety, should be given a 'Quick' (there is no doubt!) Trial, and only awarded THE DEATH PENALTY."

On another note, the Left used the same technique to open the borders. In the 80s and 90s women were likely to be harassed by chavs -- white lower class males. Especially on buses (avoid the upper deck) and late at night. England was not a safe place so the elite said "we have to import more of these nice safe pakis who always obey the law and respect women" to keep these third tier cities alive and safe.

I agree with this one. My sister is a shrink, she works with the worst of the worst, and as she tells it, there are some people who cannot be treated to become any semblance of "well." She had charge of 5 patients this past season, 4 of which are essentially victims of shitty or nonexistent parents, self-medicating, fetal alcohol syndrome, etc, and 1 of which was just a plain old SOB. She "treated" the SOB well enough that he could be jailed, for a long time. The others are just wards of the State at this point, with very little hope. All 5 are criminals, but only one of them can be held responsible.

They might want that, but that's not likely what he would be getting. Most state hospitals for the criminally insane are warehouses where they drug the nuts up and feed them too much crap, so they are docile and fat. My sister's description of the usual care regimen is somewhat awful, but it's not like they don't deserve a fair bit of that.

Also, she is in demand everywhere, because most shrinks won't do that work. Too scary, too messy, all of that. No idea why it appeals to her, but she's good at it so there's that.

Things like planning, anticipating, and escape all play a part in determining these factors and if the accused was under the influence of drugs and alcohol, those go to sentence mitigation after conviction, not to guilt and can actually damage a true claim of insanity.

Brown will have the burden of proof to show insanity under the rule and has to submit to government forensic examination by psychologists/psychiatrists because his behavior and brain is evidence for the claim.

Stupid DEI bitch judge let him go ROR instead of having him sent for psych eval even though he had 14 arrests, multiple violent crimes, and had called 911 telling them, in essence, "hey I'm floridly psychotic." Easy, he obtained a weapon, sat behind the girl, exclaimed after he got that white girl, etc. To an ordinary person with sanity, that appears insane. But when you get observational equivalence, it is equally possible he decided to kill a white girl from hatred, not insanity. Plus, his long criminal record has taught him to expect to be lightly punished for any offense as the judges in Charlotte kept letting him go with a slap on the wrist.

That means he knew who his victim would be, expressed satisfaction that he got her, and then calmly left the car content that no one would dare chase him. He did not claim to others she was an alien beaming into his brain, he did not go into a frenzy upon being rejected for a date, smoke, alcohol, etc., etc. Instead, his killing was cold, calculated, and precise.

His long criminal history also does not indicate he pled insanity in the past successfully. Insanity pleas are actually tough to pull off without a prior history of being committed involuntarily.

The paying isnt a problem When compared with the billions spent yearly on 'curing' homelessness and on putting sick people through the judicial system, everyone of these violent mentally ill people could have a private medical suite and a hot nurse. The issue is the left's abhorrence of committing someone instead of letting them 'choose their own happiness' even if thats surely to end in violence against others.

Standard by Scotus is actual IMMEDIATE harm to self or others for involuntary psych committal. And usually they get a court appointed attorney in such cases in many states.

The truth is about 1/3 to 1/2 depending on where you are (urban, suburban, rural) of jail inmates have mental issues, often not medicated or not even diagnosed. Ask any sheriff's deputy about it involved in corrections.

And states have not spent much money on doctors for jails and even less for state mental hospital and treatment systems. So jails warehouse them until they are back on the streets. in often only a day or less.

Not quite. As I explained earlier, the commerce clause power of Congress was in transition due to the Jones and Laughlin Steel case the previous term and West Coast Hotel v. Parrish in the year before that. So McReynolds, a lazy ass justice soon to retire, wrote the decision based on the taxing power (he was on the losing side in Jones and Laughlin Steel on the commerce clause change).

So in a reverse of the Obamacare case where Roberts saved it by declaring it a tax, you might expect him to pull a reverse here and claim, actually quite rightly, that the NFA was a lawful exercise to regulate under the Commerce Clause. Which btw was used in the GCA of 1968 and FOPA in 1986 as well as the AWB in 1994.

NRA never spent much time on pursuing court cases because they always felt that control of Congress and state legislatures was a better bet than the court.
