I got the Heritage Rough Rider single-action .22 for my petite youngest daughter. She has the 6.5" barrel model and can shoot it very well.
The single action makes it very slow and deliberate - so the Weasel Words of "work on your fundamentals" have time to sink in.
I think the short-barrel version would probably be a good teaching firearm for a youth shooter.

These are the hard days, this kind of memory and those kind of events. I have a family picnic and barbecue on my brother Joel's birthday every year, to remember him. He loved barbecue so much and would have deeply enjoyed this, and its nice to have what family left around for that day.

The problem is that respect for the umpire is part of baseball. They have already undermined that by having instant replay.
Bob Uecker used to say that he once told the ump, "That's not a strike!" and the ump replied, "Yes, it was, and so will the next one be."
The DH, timed pitches, no good collisions at the plate, no double switch, all this is contributing to the ruin of baseball.
I'm becoming an old coot where this is concerned.

Yeah, steroids were rampant. BiL made it to AAA and the stories are mind numbing. He didn't do them. I spent an evening shooting pool with Sosa and other Cubs the year he went 30/30. He weighed 165lbs. The next spring he was around 200lbs.

Spotting a ghost runner on 2nd in extra innings, DH in both leagues, shutting down most of the minor league system, the computer calling pitches, every year its one or two new crappy ideas and its not even the game any more.
I watched a bunch of old games on Youtube last year, and it was jaw dropping. The game moved fast, the players were professional and adult. The talent was on display. The rules were straight forward and simple.

Oldest, daughter, had bad relationships, and a miscarriage in her first, brief marriage. Finally found a great guy, but they haven't been able to have a child yet, and it's getting late.
Of our twin sons, the good and faithful cowboy-hat wearing Ford F150 driving pistol-packing hard worker has a confirmed bachelor t-shirt, but there's still hope.
His fraternal brother got married and they had our only two grandkids so far. They got TDS, gender bent, and all associated crazy, completely cut off the rest of us racist homophobic etc etc family, then moved from Oklahoma to… Minnesota. Haven't seen our grandbabies since my mom's funeral.

I was a Dodgers fan before there were any Mariners, but over the years it just became a money game. I was so excited about a Brewers/Mariners WS. Clearly the markets are just too small and Otani isn't on either team, so they had to make it come out this way.
Can we please hire some decent umps behind the plate? Just once I would like to see the strike zone the same for both teams. I guess I should go back to watching summer leagues.

Pitchers used to bat so having a batter/Pitcher, rare that it is these days, is sort of an updated version of that. Having Ps bat added all kinds of strategy to the game especially game 7s; I do miss that aspect of the game. 60's/70s managers would have been swapping pitchers like madmen to get an edge in the late innings in these on the line games - that didn't happen tonight. It is a very different game these days.

I played the game from Little League to college when it became clear to me that what little talent for the game I had peaked.
Watching a guy just dominate at the highest level in multiple positions is pretty spectacular even if he plays for one of the teams I despise the most. His talent is off the charts.

We did the Lasix balancing act for many years with my father. (He was on the edge of congestive heart failure for a long time after his second quadruple bypass.)
He got pretty attuned to feeling a bit "wonky" and short of breath when his fluids were too high. They would then hit him with Lasix and pull down the fluids after a few days.
I believe(?) the balancing act of doing that for years eventually puts significant stress on the kidneys.
He survived all of that though, and died due to complications of multiple myeloma.

Had another cat that caught something I can't even name. A mole? A vole? Anyway, I was sleeping on the floor in those days and I awoke to find cat chewing away on something half its size, about 6 inches from my face. I bolted out of the bedroom and tiptoed in an hour later. Couldn't find a trace of the "breakfast." Cat had eaten that thing whiskers, claws, tail, and all.

I need to find a better source for that taylor ham. The store didn't have as much as I hoped, and we got all they had. They did have another brand, but not taylor brand, and taylor is the original. I see huge rolls of the different brand. I have to get one and see how it compares. I never tried it, but it might be really good. Every diner, bagel place, breakfast place, etc, has it, so its possible it might be one of the other brands. Its possible I had it and never knew it. If it passes muster I'll be bringing that too next time.

3000sq ft, 2 acres, ranch house. I got it easy compared to others, I got a cousin in NE jersey in one of those nice old 3 floor jobs where the servants lived on the 3rd floor. His taxes are over 20K. My old house was half the size of this house, on 1/2 acre, 5 miles away from where I am now, and it was $9700. I got lucky, for lack of a better word.

That is around $6.00 per sq. ft. per year in NJ while in NM I am paying a bit over a $1.00 per sq. ft. I am good where I am at. I am going out on limb here but I don't think the quality of life in NJ is six times better than I have here in NM.

I had an aunt who was going to build her retirement home on a remote piece of property when she was 75. 30 miles of winding two lane blacktop to the nearest doctor, and that road often sees two feet of snow before the plows get to it. Throw in a quarter mile of driveway with three feet of snow on it during much of the winter. Fortunately, she reconsidered.

Landlords should post signs on the outside of their buildings: "There are 6 perfectly livable units in this building that I can't rent out because of the laws in this city. Sleep in your storage units, idiots."
Got another one, add a clause to the leases for rent-controlled units: "By paying only $[amount] for rent, I am knowingly causing other people to pay outrageous rents or sleep in the streets, and I agree to have my name and ridiculously low, sub-market rental fee posted publicly."

My cousin was in a series of commercials for "Off" in which he starred as a "legendary adventurer" named "The Backyardsman" - I really loved them (and not just because he was in them!) Was sorry when "Off" discontinued them - here's an example:
