US Attorney Lindsey Halligan Fires Two More Prosecutors, Alledging Unauthorized Leaks to Press

CNN mad!

Where are they going to get their anti-Trump DOJ scoops from now?!?!

President Donald Trump's hand-picked interim US Attorney Lindsey Halligan has fired more senior prosecutors from the Eastern District of Virginia office, two sources familiar with the matter told CNN.

Beth Yusi and Kristin Bird were no longer with the office as of Friday. Yusi has been with the Department of Justice since 2007. One source said that Halligan believed the attorneys to be leaking "unauthorized" information to the press. The other source added that they received termination letters.

CNN has reached out to Yusi and Bird for comment.

Yeah I'll bet.

Halligan has moved quickly to assert her authority over the office, with several recent firings and departures, and she has become personally involved in courtroom proceedings -- which is unusual for a US attorney --in the recent indictments of Trump foes James Comey and Letitia James.

The move indicates a deepening split between Halligan, who leads the powerful office, and its roster of experienced prosecutors.

The Trump DOJ's slow-motion Saturday Night Massacre

The departures mark the latest in a string of resignations and firings in the Eastern District of Virginia in less than a month.

CNN reported earlier this week that Maggie Cleary, the senior Justice Department prosecutor who briefly led EDVA, had been removed from the office, according to two people familiar with the matter.

The first Trump-appointed US attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia, Erik Siebert, resigned under pressure from Trump, as resistance in the office built around charging Comey at the end of September.

17 Halligan also dropped an indictment corrupt Mueller team took out on innocent Turkish businessman named Ekim Alptekin because he refused to give them fake dirt on General Flynn. He lived apart from his family and young kids for 5 years for fear of extradition.

During Biden's reign of terror the DOJ refused to drop the charges despite knowing they were based on lies.

Ken Dilanian had a very strong association as the reporter for sources to leak natsec materials.

Fusion moniker came from the Glenn Simpson, Fusion GPS.

That company specialized in dirty tricks and became the conduit of the Steele dossier with Nellie Ohr, and others working for doing Hillary oppo research. IIRC, the Steele dossier initially started and paid for by GOPe mega donor Paul? Singer to help Rubio in 2016 but discontinued after Rubio flamed out in the primaries.

It is possible that Fusion was one of the contractors that was illegally using Scifs at the FBI to conduct NSA queries (the mistake on Michael Cohen was an example) or was the receiver of such documents. Crowdstrike is speculated to have been another and then you had CISA and academia involved. Then the FISA warrants were opened on Carter Page and Papadoupoulos which permitted the FBI and contractors to snope when NSA access was cut off by Adm Rogers.

Ken was the public mouthpiece of a whole host of really ugly and criminal people that tried to launch a coup against an elected president.

A thing that discourages me about Trump is that he seems to be sentimental about some of these criminals. "Poor Hillary, I just saw her as a little woman who's married to that dirtbag" or whatever he said. I could hear him saying "Obama's a nice guy, he was a terrible president but a nice guy, I don't want to make trouble for him."

He doesn't seem to realize that it's not about him. It's about all of us wanting to know that we live in a land where the rule of law prevails. It's also about the fact that if you permit it, you'll get more of it.

132 Willowed from last thread. Sorry, I was late to reply -- just saw it -- but wanted to say this about Thomas Massie:

277 I'm not here to defend Massie. I'm not sure what's he's been doing or why, especially recently, because it always seems to help the Dems, but I do know a few things because I used to work for him at a small startup company.

First, he's not stupid. He's a tech genius, having invented a haptic device that allows you to use your sense of touch to interact with computer modeling software. He did that and created the company while he was still at MIT. Just one of his many technical achievements.

Second, he's anything but a RINO. At least not then, and nothing I've read has disabused me of that fact.

He may be an unregenerate Libertarian -- and to be honest, I've lost my patience with them -- but he was, let's just say, unpopular, back then back in Massachusetts among employees and others for his well-known political views.

In short, people marveled at his brains but Mass-types did not care for his politics. At all.

So, as I said, I don't care for what he's doing, especially when it comes to thwarting MAGA, but to say he's a stupid RINO is seriously wrong on bo

171 Schrodinger's indictments. I'll wait for news that a grand jury has been impaneled.

If DOJ can get rid of all of the in house leakers we will never know if a grand jury has been empaneled unless they refer an indictment.

172 There ought to be a special ceremony for firing federal attorneys. Maybe have the terminated employee stand within a hollow square composed of his (or her, as the case may be) colleagues, while the boss attorney reads the grounds for termination from a scroll. Then carve a big 'L' on the side of her (or his, as the case may be) expensive leather brief case. Too bad they don't wear wigs this side of the pond; I suppose you could light up the ceremonial Zippo and burn the thing. Then deny them fire, water and ambulances for a distance of 500 miles.

Brennan is an interesting case where Obama put a corrupt POS as CIA director equivalent to Mamdani running the CIA as a Commie Islamist.

Rumor is that Brennan cleaned up Obama's Pakistan trip records and other such embarrassing items before any of that could be revealed in his presidential race.

I suspect you would get leaks on that from the judicial branch. Clerks offices are notoriously for misconduct in judicial assignments as well as other issues and they get off virtually scot free like judges do from improper behavior.

It is an extraordinarily difficult case to bring and I'd imagine you also have departmental perspectives involved. Then there is the venue question and who if any to cut deals with for prosecution.

I'll simply wait and see. It might happen, I'll cheer, it might happen somewhat, I'll cheer, and if it doesn't happen, then simply investigating the bastards and making them sleep uneasy for years will be worth it.

You have a flare for the dramatic. I would simply drop them from a C-130 off the rear ramp without a parachute.

Like in that old Western TV show, "Branded." Except they break their briefcase instead of their sword. Though I really do like the idea of just dropping them from a C130 sans parachute.

189 Powell and Taylor each deserve a bullet between the eyes and for their worthless corpses to be tossed in the nearest dumpster. These scumbags are NOT going to learn until they start seeing their "homies" that commit crimes summarily executed and quickly dead. THAT will send the message they need to hear.

DC also needs to be forced to permit concealed carry for law-abiding citizens. If the cops can't or won't protect the citizenry, the least they can do is permit citizens to protect themselves.
