As a fan of Edward Hopper I couldn't help but take this photo in Greenwich tonight.

Content warning. A young goat falls as he attempts to climb a very vertical cliff. The goat lives and tries again, but it's hard to watch the little guy fall. (Note: Nature photographers and editors are sometimes pretty dishonest. For all I know, this little goat did die, and then maybe they edited in another goat making the climb and just claimed it was the first goat.)

"The Shepherd's Leap," a sexual act pioneered by Kamala Harris and then adapted for use in the mountains.

You need to drive vertically when you drive in the mountains.

This spillway's design was inspired by Kamala Harris.

The world's largest drain is part of the Monticello Dam in California. Known as the Morning Glory Spillway, this massive structure helps manage water levels and prevents flooding by channeling excess water from the lake.

(A spillway allows excess water to pass over or around a dam instead of overtopping it and maybe causing the entire dam to collapse. This particular spillway is a big vertical shaft going down through the earth and emptying on the other side of the dam. In my imaginary farm, which I could do if I wanted to move back to MS, I'd breed Goldens. Have an elephant and fainting goats. Maybe chickens, but someone would have to get their eggs as I have a pecking phobia. Plus a horse and cows. Baby cows.

However, it is too hot, there are bugs and snakes and I am a mountain woman who loves snow.

One of my best friend's daughter is raising a unique (to me) breed in MS. British White's. They are white with black ears. Cuties.

Years ago our parish held an ox roast in early September, and my wife worked the kids' games, helped by the kiddos (who got to play for free! No prizes though).

It was moved to October and we dropped in and it was a bit smaller, but the parish seems to be doing better than when we were there. The pastor is a Protestant minister who swam the Tiber and managed to get enough money together to pre-Vatican II the Sanctuary, complete with altar rail. School enrolment is booming as well.

The sandwiches were fine and my wife binged on GF baked goods.

I watched a video from a professional security dog handler. He showed a recording of some guy that tried that. Didn't go well.

All the methods the professional showed involved choking out the dog, and if desired, in a way that causes the natural gag reflex that causes the mouth to open. There was a particular technique though because pulling the leash will just lift the dog up and do nothing. But it was always choking either with the leash or by arm.

They occasionally have to get a working security dog to "eject" a perp's body part because the dog gets a lock down on them.

When I was teaching diving in the Caribbean sharks were a fairly common sight. Like constant. But they mostly wanted nothing to do with us if we weren't bothering them. Never had one seriously threaten me.

We were always told that if a shark comes after you stand your ground and punch it in the snout because sharks have a lot of sensory nerves in their snout.

I would guess about 1% of people given this advice would follow it.

I did, indeed. 46yrs + married. Known him 49yrs of rock and roll and laughs.

I honestly think the secret is laughter, and we have that every day. Friends first. I still make him laugh.

Hope it happens to everyone at one point in life.

I waited 21yrs to meet him and did not date much at all, as I was a weirdo who did not need to go out with goobers every Saturday night in HS. In college I had many friends and buddies but hardly anyone dared date me til him.

The theory is sharks snouts are very sensitive and it sort of stuns them to be smacked on the nose. Makes some sense since they have lots of sensors there. But throwing a punch underwater has the limitation of throwing a punch underwater. Doesn't really work.

If a shark wants to bite you he is already in a mood. Find a way to stay away from the sharp spots is probably as good as you can do.

Mine likes it when I call him from the car and tell him I am lost. In the area we moved to a decade ago. It's only happened twice. I don't care that I have GPS on my phone, just get me somewhere I recognize.

I literally can't get too lost as the mountains are to the east, west, north and south. Ours are to the east, so I know I am at least close to home.

I used to swim with complete uncare in the Atlantic (and Gulf in teens). If the waves were right I'd swim far along the beach and had enough sense not to swim at sunset when they eat dinner.

But once we got a pool I got more neurotic about sharks. When we were in a lagoon in Honolulu last summer I felt something big swoosh around my left calf. I did not react because I was with my 4yr old granddaughter looking at fish. I still hope it was a sea turtle.
