And that five point lead narrows when respondents are reminded of Hochul's (unreciprocated) endorsement of Ugandan terrorist and communist Zohran Mamdani.

This race doesn't go to the polls until next year, but it's still interesting to see Democrats flailing even in the bluest of blue states.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul retains just a five percentage-point lead against potential 2026 Republican challenger Elise Stefanik -- and loses that advantage when likely voters first hear about both candidates' records, according to a new internal poll.
Stefanik trails behind Hochul, 48% to 43%, on an initial ballot but narrowly beats the incumbent Democrat, 46.4% to 45.9%, when voters leaning toward voting in the 2026 race hear about the governor endorsing New York City mayoral front-runner and socialist candidate Zohran Mamdani, the poll found, among other issues.
If Mamdani wins Gracie Mansion, up to 47% of independent voters also said they'd be less likely to vote for Hochul or other Democrats up and down the ballot in the midterms.
The survey, paid for by Stefanik's leadership fundraising committee E-PAC, showed likely gubernatorial voters also downgraded Hochul for her record on supporting bail reform in New York and other cost-of-living concerns.
Hochul's job performance rating is also underwater, 56% to 39%, and at least half of the likely voters polled strongly disapprove of the Democrat.

Meanwhile, just 34% of the likely voters said as of this month they were ready to re-elect Hochul, while 59% said it was time for someone new.
Pollster Landon Wall, of the firm Grayhouse, said his survey of 1,250 likely 2026 midterm voters reveals Hochul is in a "deeply vulnerable position."

In New Jersey, Jack Ciattarelli is tied with the sinking cheater and swindler Mikie Sherril. (Ignore Scott Pressler's typo about Ciatterelli being the governor of Pennsylvania.)

Just like Pennsylvania, the Democrats (through the NC Supreme Court) pulled in a political hack professor from Stanford University (Nathaniel Persily) to gerrymander the state in the Democrat's favor. Back then they got away with it because the NC Supreme Court was left leaning.

However, today the Republican are the majority on the NC SC by a total of 5 to 2. That's why NC is going to fix the districts.

Here's an interesting take on that which conceivably holds water. We rarely see two female candidates go head to head in a debate. There are usually male candidates mixed in. BUT, when you have a one on one with two female candidates the behavior is different. If one is truly angry at the other (and Sears initiated it by not letting Spanberger catch a breath on the Jay Jones endorsement and everything attached to that)....Spanberger resorted to a typical female response. Refusing to acknowledge the other party, and refusal to interact. It was, almost, instinctual....and I'll be Spanberger's husband is very familiar with that behavior.

I always considered DeSantis a talk the talk sort of guy. But, he's really come into his own as a walk the walk sort of guy. 251 Just watched the live press conference to announce the new presidency for the LDS church. No surprise, it's Dallin H. Oaks, since he was next in line for seniority. But now it's official.

He was a judge in his old day job, it's kind of comforting to have someone understanding law to lead the church when it feels like the law gets shredded every day.

Liberal LDS friends of mine have expressed concerns that of all the leaders of the LDS church, Oaks is one of the most conservative. Some of them hope the conservative old guard die off and the younger, more liberal members of the 12 can be prophet one day. I think they want changes to women's roles and LGBT policy. Oaks won't change that an inch, he'll keep it the same.

I keep emphasing this... I don't believe Dems any longer care about electoral politicking. I think they're long term strategy is based on appealing to the Kill-Crazy Fanatic part of their coalition. It's the one place where they have a huge, possibly insurmountable advantage.
