Amazon's Prime Day sales are mostly a lie, with prices averaging just 0.6% lower during the company's largest sale of the year. (MSN)

Some prices are lower, some say they are lower but are the same as the usual discount offered online, while others actually increase during Prime Day sales looking for people who are too busy to price-check.

There are some bargains but they are far and few between. I did find in the latest sale that it was cheaper to buy a Bosch cordless drill with battery and charger than the battery alone.*

7 I've been watching a YouTube video series where the guy takes local trains from Tokyo all the way to Japan's easternmost railway station at the tip of Hokkaido.

The thing that struck me is that it wasn't until he got out into eastern Hokkaido that I saw landscape that felt rural to me.

Australia is very empty, yes, but Japan felt very full.

She's a Dem, of course, a Hillary supporter, but at least when the mayor is on TV in the future we won't want to avert our eyes. I voted for every R I could find -- 'tweren't many -- and none won or even made a decent showing, which is normal around here. Another black woman won the sheriff's race. She may be the daughter of, or related somehow to, a black male sheriff or police chief we had some years ago of the same name.

67 As I mentioned last night, the big dead (?) tree outside my bedroom window collapsed with a sound like thunder yesterday afternoon. Fortunately it fell *away* from my window. It broke the rear window of a car, not mine, at the curb, and scattered chunks of what is now firewood across the street and blocked the sidewalk.

I called, then posted a service request with pics on the 311 website. Since tomorrow is a holiday, and this whole place is a pesthole, we probably won't see the tree removed for some days. With some work gloves on, I'll try moving the big branches in the street to the curb at least, so we can drive through.

I have one of those Bose "Sound Touch" systems. Got it because the TV speakers sucked. It was always hooked up to our cable box and we had to use 3 different remotes to get anything to work right.

Still have it, simplified our TV watching by going full streaming, and only need one remote now.

The sound is pretty good. Don't see a reason to get rid of it as I can listen to streamed music via Roku or play my tunes off a thumb drive attached to the TV.

Leonardo DiCaprio always has that Leonardo pseudo-charm going on, but he also can act in the right situations. For instance; overall I didn’t really like the movie but he was great in Django Unchained, I also enjoyed his performance in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

It is excellent. There's even a bit where Billy Bob's character tears strips off a young "environmentalist" lawyer character (who has other unappetizing behaviors as well) over what a scam solar and wind are.

In "Tulsa King", also on Paramount+, Sylvester Stallone does some of the best acting of his career as a decidedly non-woke Mob boss who gets exiled to Tulsa after spending a few decades in the can.

It's no coincidence that "Yellowstone", "Landman", and "Tulsa King" are all Taylor Sheridan shows. He also does "Special Ops: Lioness" and "Mayor of Kingtown" for Paramount+. The Lioness show is good. I won't watch the Mayor show because it stars Hollywood woketard Jeremy Renner.

I honestly don't know when Sheridan sleeps.

I enjoyed Yellowstone for the first few seasons, but then it went off the reservation into Crazy Town the past few years.

I enjoyed 1923 more and loved 1883, which reminded me a lot of Lonesome Dove.

Haven’t seen the Sam Bass show or anything after that, because I cancelled Paramount+ when they started raising prices when those new Sheridan shows came out.

Sheridan was going to do 6666 about the ranch in Texas but I guess that got cancelled.

213 There is an addon you can get for your browser called Keepa which will show you a price graph over time on the item description page at the Amazon site.

It is very good to see if you are getting an actual deal on the item. You can also set price alerts on the same page so you will be notified if the item hits the price point you want.

There is also a CapitalOne addon which will compare the Amazon price to other sources like ebay and tell you if it finds a lower price. It picks the wrong item sometimes but that is easy enough to see and it offers other incentives like cash back etc...

Between those two addons I have save a ton of money.
