Islam's War Against Israel Must Be Flipped Around: Israel's Policy Should Now Be Unrelenting Offense

Wars are immensely complicated human endeavors, and the arrogance of assuming that one's enemy's plans are understandable and manageable is tremendously dangerous.

The ancient Greeks understood that rather well...

Hubris --> Atis --> Nemesis --> Tisis

That sad progression applies perfectly to Israel's military and political hierarchy with respect to Hamas and, to a lesser extent, Hezbollah. For a generation, Israel was willing to accept a certain level of terror attacks against its people, assuming that Hamas accepted that status quo because of the existential risks of all-out war. They also assumed that the the luxurious lives lived by the leaders (and their families) of Hamas in Qatar meant that they did not want to jeopardize that comfort for some unlikely success against Israel's modern military.

Israel also assumed that the oceans of oil money pouring into western capitals and universities would have only limited influence on the support for Israel in America and Europe. In addition, Israel felt that their incredible technological advantages would protect them against internet-based attacks.

And then Israel made tactical decisions that the border with Gaza could be defended with a small, lightly armed force plus automation and high-tech sensor systems. Their intelligence apparatus assumed that they would learn about and be able to defuse any large-scale attack.

Israel's leadership was wrong on all counts, and the catastrophe of October 7, 2023 could have been much worse had the Arab and Muslim propensity for backstabbing, disloyalty, and craven self-interest not held true. Hezbollah did not join the attack until the next day, and they launched rockets but did not attack with troops. Iran did not launch missiles, the Houthis did not launch missiles or drones, and the only real and successful support for Hamas came from the entrenched terror-supporting organizations in the West, on college campuses and in the streets of blue cities.

The profound failure on all Israeli fronts was mitigated by tremendous bravery among the few military personnel who were able to respond, the police, and the relatively few armed civilians who saw the reality on the ground that was still being denied by Israel's elites.

But the damage to Israel's ethos of self defense was profound. But it also came with the realization that Israel's left was simply wrong about the concept of trading land for peace, and more importantly, they were absolutely wrong that there is any accommodation to be made with the 7th century savages whose holy texts command them to kill Jews; who see Jews as subhuman; who consider Israel to be an unconquered part of their Caliphate.

And that sea change, if it survives, will be the basis for a new strategic imperative in Israel. Waiting and watching and attacking only when absolutely necessary may work for awhile, but eventually, one of Israel's many enemies will succeed. And accepting some sort of low-level of terrorist activity in the interests of some tortured geopolitical consideration was just shown to be arrant nonsense.

The first step must be to hunt down every single one of those who perpetrated the October 7th Pogrom. Even if it takes 50 years and Israel kills a grandfather on his deathbed...that must be done.

The second step must be a significant reevaluation of the decision making that leads to defensive strikes against its enemies. Israel waited too long against Iran. Israel waited too long against the Houthis. Israel waited too long against the Hamas leadership in Qatar. Israel may have waited too long to go into Gaza in force! How many hostages could have been saved had they not titrated and equivocated for two years?

Islam must be put on notice that any attacks on Israel and Jews throughout the world will be met with force. And any attacks being planned will be met with force as early as possible. And no level of terrorist activity will be tolerated.

Yes...the world opprobrium will be savage, but how different would it be compared to today? Israel will be vilified no matter what it does, and if they are vilified before a monstrous attack such as October 7th (or worse) occurs, isn't that better than being vilified for its response?

5 CBD, 'unrelenting offense' will almost certainly mean taking and holding territory. The corollary is clearing that territory of its inhabitants. Scourging southern Lebanon (which is, at the moment, a startlingly quiet environment, by appearances) and the 'Palestinian' territories is one thing; how does Israel scourge the Houthis?

I'm not worried, I'm confident that it will go no way as planned.

From a spiritual standpoint, man cannot negotiate with the Devil, man can only be deceived. It is arrogant for anyone to think that they can outsmart God's Number One created being that Fell and brought a third of the heavenly host with him.

This will, as can only be expected in a Fallen World, to end in misery and death.

8 And then Israel made tactical decisions that the border with Gaza could be defended with a small, lightly armed force plus automation and high-tech sensor systems.

Where, oh where have I heard that before?

George W. Bush's "high-tech border" was the Secure Border Initiative (SBI), a multi-year plan launched in 2005 that included the development of a "virtual fence" known as SBInet
. The program was later canceled in 2011 after being plagued by significant cost overruns, delays, and technical failures.
Secure Border Initiative (SBI)
Purpose: The SBI was intended to secure the northern and southern U.S. borders and curb illegal immigration through an integrated approach of personnel, technology, infrastructure, and rapid response.
The virtual fence was designed to use a combination of sensors, radar, and cameras to detect border incursions. This was intended to help Border Patrol agents identify and respond to threats in real-time...Program failure: SBInet was ultimately canceled by DHS in 2011. A GAO report identified critical technical issues, such as radar systems that struggled to distinguish between vegetation and people during high winds.

9 Brilliantly stated. I’m still dumbfounded that Israel’s defenses were so weak that Oct 7 could happen in the first place. While the world wants to pretend there will be a two-state solution, Israel must always understand that their enemies will persist in pursuing a one-state solution that does not include Israel.

20 I think Trump's looking at the situation and presuming an agreement is just that, an agreement. Business like. He's often made business orientated comments about Gaza, rebuilding, regional investments and so on.

Doomed to failure, I'd wager, but he did get most of the parties (minus Iran) with a stake in cooling off to agree to cooling it.

It won't last and it won't be the Israelis who start the next round. It's... predictable. But it might provide pretext to what happens later should Hamas perform as expected.

For context; Putin nodded along with Trump in Alaska then promptly bombarded Ukraine. Trump then released weaponry previously held at bay to Z-man while publicly dissing Putin. He was/is pissed about that.

22 Agree with you completely about the mistakes of the past. I could go further and list the many strategic mistakes the IDF has made in Gaza over the last two years but there’s no point. (The failure to close Rafah in the early days was the worst; they allowed Hamas to keep rearming for a year before finally shutting that down)

BUT in the last few months they’ve finally gotten it right, although I still think they have moved much too slowly. Even pulling back to the “yellow line” they still retain effective military control over 53% of Gaza, including all borders. Israel finally has full control of everything entering or leaving. This is supremely significant concerning the ensuing peace deal - Hamas will not be allowed to significantly rearm.

I have no doubt Israel's virtual system detected the hell out of the incursion but they needed to have a force in place that was fast enough to interdict the Gazans.
Or give the people along the Gaza border the ability to defend themselves.

I'm not. They let their Jewish Left control the government, and, just like the Jewish Left in this country, they wanted to disarm the populace. They succeeded. 40 years ago, EBRs (Evil Black Rifle) were common, especially outside the big cities. Then the Israeli version of HCI got their way. "Permits" were required, and individual self protection wasn't a valid reason. On Oct 7, almost no civilians were armed, and we saw the result.
Oct 7 happened because the average Israeli beloved the bs: guns are bad, what do you need one of those things for, the government will take care of you, you're gonna shoot your eye out.
Hopefully, they've learned. Hopefully, we won't require that lesson, or worse.

I will argue that this plan is *designed* to fail, and that both Trump and Netanyahu are counting on that. It all depends on the hostages being freed, the first step which should happen over the next 2 days. Once that is accomplished, Israel has no need to keep invading, they instead have the option of sealing Gaza off completely along the current yellow line. Hamas is out of missiles, and no more can be imported. They are going to be preoccupied with killing all of their internal rivals for some time.
What is important is that Stage 2 of the plan is that. Hamas disarm. Of course they will not do this, they’ve already said they won’t. So what does this mean? It means that Israel finally gets their hostages back, the only leverage Hamas had over them, and that stages 2 - 20 of the plan are dead before they’re even tried. No rebuilding, no Arab peace force, just isolation.

The only damage the Houthi’s have caused lately was with a drone in a southern city, one which should have been easily shot down by Israeli defenses. Israel has too small a population to take and hold anything, thst is simply not an option. Never forget, Isreal is just 16 million persons stuck permanently fighting 1 billion barbarians. Complete victory is never a possibility, not even a hope.
Yet this fight has gone on for thousands of years, and the Jewish nation is not defeated yet, while history is littered with the carcasses of their enemies.

Posted by: Tom Servo at October 12, 2025 01:07 PM (mzEwx)

97 Iran's last remaining play in the near term is the West Bank, where they've been increasing arms smuggling. Looks like Israel is finally going to pretty much close, and fortify, the Jordanian border. The whack-a-mole in the West Bank has been under way for a bit though it gets little attention.

Even by Middle East standards the West Bank situation is an effed up mess with no elegant solutions (glib chest-thumping ones abound but aren't happening).

The Shi'a axis is gutted, Israel is now a regional super-power (only one in the world), generational change in Arab states plus the complete evaporation of the eliminationist fantasy will likely move more states into the Abraham framework (Oman, Saudi, most likely), though that may still glitch on residual "two state" kabuki.

Gaza will likely remain a mess, peace plan elements to move it much beyond basic reconstruction are long-shots but need to be attempted.

Inch-deep take on this is that the Houthi operation is entirely dependent on int'l humanitarian aid to keep their population out of crisis, almost all the bad stuff they need to import (weapons) come in by easily interdicted sea routes. If one could navigate international idiocy/outrage on the aid side by ramping it down, while also imposing a naval quarantine, perhaps the other Yemeni side could end the Houthi thing.

Not sand so much as the underlying material is porous--think more like sandstone and limestone instead of igneous. Easy enough to tunnel in limestone/sandstone but the material itself is porous over time.

The major reason I think Israelis abandoned the project is fear of harming hostages and the seawater was destabilizing buildings above. Israelis, for better or worse, are fighting this war as humanely as possible and to keep casualties to a minimum.

The problem with the Western way of warfare is that enemies are not permanently defeated and enemies have plenty of low iq dumbasses to expend for the glory of jihad while their masters sit in luxurious bunkers or out of the country in places like Qatar in luxurious circumstances.

Funny now that Pakistan is getting blowback from its Afghani doublecross of the US. Recent suicide bombing in Quetta for a Taliban offshoot led to bombing of Kabul (and mebbe elsewhere).

Is that a bad thing? Because regardless the tunnels will collapse in time. The whole place is undermined. Get it over with quick and then build the Gaza Strip Vacation Resort.

Who built Gaza in the first place? I have vague recollections that it was the jews and they were none to happy when Isreal forced them to move out and give everything to the PA.

151 The only way any of this 'genocide' bullshit enters the conversation is if you have an archaic view of the evolution of humanity. Tribalism is a social construct of the past.

Everybody exploits the tribalist mentality to gain an upper hand and expose weakness. What's the goal? Territory and resources?

We're all fucking savages.

152 135 Yet Islam is maybe within 20 years of taking over most of Europe

I would put it this way - Europe may be 20 years away from completely collapsing in in itself, with Islam standing by to pick up the pieces.

154 139 There is no way that ALL of the hostages will be 'released'... ie... meaning their dead bodies.

Some will be faked, like the one last year, the last time they agreed to 'Peace'.

Within weeks, they will start killing again.

Just like on the Internet we have the 24 hour rule on stories? You need a 6 month rule with the Palis.

155 but it is beyond insane to have let this drag on for years

Notes:
Hamas losing for 2years.
Netanyahu still PM.

I am a strong supporter of Israel but no-one should forget that the Jewish left is (largely) the intellectual wing of the left. This is no surprise.
Similarly they have waging lawfare against Prime Minister Netanyahu since forever.

I now discover that the British government has been trying to disarm us since 1924 (surprisingly, there were no celebrations of the centenary last year).

The Fabians (the intellectual wing of the British Labour party) actually had, as their emblem, a stained glass window of a wolf in sheep's clothing.
You cannot despise the Left enough.

157 It is hard to admit, but Trump has saved Bibi's butt.
1. There is a significant number of Israelis who will give up anything to get the hostages back. Israeli is not united. Trump helps Bibi on that front and gives him cover from the populace who wants to wipe Gaza from the face of the earth.
2. Trump convinces Bibi that he can't fight the world, even with US help.
3. Since it is likely the deal goes sideways, given Hamas in general, Bibi gets carte blanc to wipe them out.
This doesn't include all the good things it does for Trump.
