The story was pretty good, with interesting backstories and characters you actually cared about. While it's clearly aimed at tween girls who take KPop bands seriously, there's also jokes and parodies of pop bands that mature adults will understand.
If you stripped away all the tween-targeted syrupy material, and remade the movie for a more mature audience, it would be really good.

Some day I'd like to read a real break-down on just how far from fixable Mexico really is. "Back in the day" I used to read reports how an incredibly small number of families owned more than 80% of the economy. That was a decade or two ago. I imagine with the cartels and the marxism that situation has only gotten worse. Its my non-statistical guess that the only way to "fix" Mexico would be through a complete overthrow of the government, and those only seem to happen FROM the Marxists and not TO the marxists.

Drinker's review of it is pretty great. You can have girl protagonists that aren't girlboss boring, who knew?
Even the sugarcoated pop songs in the show have deeper meanings, I thought that was cool. The Huntrix songs are secretly about killing demons, and the demon band's songs are about consuming souls. They further the plot. And yes, there's a lot of parody of kpop bands and the pop groups to laugh at, while they also have love for them. It had to carefully balance a lot of tricky things and did it well.
Have you heard the wild backstory about the album? Sony movies and Sony music are two companies under one parent company. Sony movies carefully crafted the perfect soundtrack, and then Sony music passed on the rights to it. The rights got bought by a smaller music company with some involvement in the soundtrack. Whomever made that decision at Sony music should be fired. Think of the millions Sony music lost in music right a cause they passed it up! It is to laugh.

The problem with doing detail work like that is that you wind up looking at what you do from 8" for hours and hours. I found my sewing projects look better if I box them up and don't look at them for a week before bringing them out to inspect them.

As part of my cancer treatment, I had an RPLND surgery. They gut you like a fish, dump your intestines on your chest, and cut stuff out of the back of your abdomen from the inside.
A year or two later, I had an obvious hernia in the incision site from the RPLND and had to get it fixed. The doctor who fixed it found many small hernias with a mesh matrix. He compared it to Swiss cheese. Everything's good now, but when I twist and turn I can feel the mesh a little bit in my stomach area. It's ... weird.

Yea, contrary to what someone commented above about Dokken, I've seen them several times back in the day, and they were great. I can see why someone might think some songs were "off" because there are guitar overlays on the records, but live it's only Lynch playing (no overdubs that I could hear). Don's voice was dead on. That's not true any more, but that's not his fault.

Sure, everything always tapers for everyone.
But the nice thing about Rush is they always played long sets of old hits + whatever new material they were pushing (which was never bad).
You got what you came for, and some more that wouldn't leave you a bad taste in your mouth. Just a killer live band.

Rush were great live, although I only saw them back in the day when they were much younger men. All three are virtuosos on their instruments. The only issue with their live performances is what I said upthread about Dokken: on the records, Rush overlays guitars and has bass and keyboard playing at the same time. Live, it's only three guys playing so they can't do that.

I saw the Rolling Stones at Arrowhead Stadium in 2015, I think, with my dad and sister. He, as a Boomer, was a huge Stones fan, and my sister and I grew up listening to them because of him. Were they as good as they were in their prime? No. But it was still a great concert, a memorable experience, and Mick Jagger is (or, was, 10 years ago, but still old) in amazing shape. They must have played for 2.5 hours, and aside from 2 songs about halfway through (where he probably went backstage for oxygen), he was dancing, non-stop, up and down the T-shaped stage that went into the crowd. 90% of people couldn't have kept up with him.

I suppose, in a way, he did in that there would have been no need for a peace deal. In Trump's first term he cut off all financial aid to Gaza. Biden quickly restored that aid and added to it immediately upon taking office while simultaneously financing the Iranians. Those funds allowed Hamas (thru Iran) to initiate their 10/7 massacre.
So, yeah, Biden was only responsible for today's peace deal in that he set up the scenario to require a peace deal in the first place.

You know who was actually delightful live, before he turned fat and satanic? Sam Smith. I went to his concert with a friend and it was very fun. He has a really great voice live, and he was just a nice gay bloke putting on a fun show you could take grandma to. Nice sharp suits, clean crisp staging.
Then, post covid, he want bloated and demonic. I'm still jarred by it. They say when young gay men hit their sexual shelf life they have a raging mid life crisis. I wonder it that's connected to the "unholy" satanic break Sam Smith had from sanity.

I've got the same problem, but I don't blame Apple, I blame the left for forcing people to use janky ad networks that overload pages with scripts and videos.
You could try the Brave browser, if you're not already, but as I recall it wouldn't work on my phone for the front page either.
Works on an iPad with Brave and set to allow the ads, though.
It takes a little more time for the ads to load, but it's good to go after that.
Even my PC bogs down on the front page and the fans go off like a vacuum cleaner.
It's not just an iPhone problem.

Santa Clara is one of the first law schools to publish 2026-27 tuition. Historically, Grad PLUS loans have had no limits. Starting next year, professional school borrowing will be capped at $50k/year. Notice anything about the trend in tuition?
I expect many schools to copy this.

If we got the government out of student loans, allowed loans to be discharged under bankruptcy and then put the schools on the hook for it, there would be major improvements in the cost of higher education.

But, the OBBB's limits on grad school loans is very suddenly having a massive effect.
Santa Clara going from $63,000 per year to $50,000 per year is a 21% drop in price in one year. The inflation in higher ed is suddenly becoming deflation.

Almost as if evil oft will evil mar. They really can't help themselves at this point. The Democrats are staking-out positions for which there are no rational arguments.
* Cut off the breasts and sew-up the vaginas of girls, and castrate boys.
* Prioritize illegal migrants rather than native-born poor people.
* Kill pre-born babies.
* Distribute sexually-explicit materials to elementary-aged children.
All of those actions harm people and are positively evil.

Mebbe, just never cared for the genre as such. When I was a kid, those movies were on endless reruns on Saturdays and Sundays along with endless western series like Gunsmoke, etc.
And Wayne outside of his genre wasn't that compelling on screen. Nothing like Jimmy Stewart, and a bit like how Cary Grant typecast himself after Notorious and his Penny Serenade movie. Something like Winchester 73's performance by Stewart was probably beyond Wayne's acting skills or desire to play such a character.
But Grant could play light comedy like few others could match.

I am going to offer my mea culpa and beg forgiveness of the Horde. My youngest daughter really likes football. I had given up on the MFL, but we watched it when she was younger and loves the game. She asked me to watch it one time after I hadn;t watched for a while, and as a daughter who was at that ackward stage it was something we could do together and those moments are rare. So we did and now get together often to watch. Yea, I feel a bit dirty, but it's time I get with her, and I don't care what it is. I just enjoy being with her.
