As we continue to await an official casualty count because of the federal government shutdown, predicted to be in the millions by such distended grapefruits in a mesh bag dragging on the sidewalk bescrotumed decrepit momzers as Bernie Sanders, himself a cheerleader of mass death as his fellow commies in a little over a century racked up well over 100 million, and still counting. And he has the unmitigated cutzpocritical gall after all the death, misery, dislocation, dissolution and waste of life, wealth and potential at the hands of the DemoKKKrats to declare . . . President Donald Trump’s second term has become “the worst crisis in America literally since the Civil War.” . . we are living in an unprecedentedly dangerous moment, possibly the worst crisis in America since the Civil War. You have a president who is acting unconstitutionally and illegally. Guess what? These projects have been appropriated. They were signed by a president. It is illegal to rescind them. And then basically to say to people in Vermont, in New York and California, oh, you didn’t vote for Donald Trump, well, we’re going to take away funding that was supposed to go to your state, illegal, outrageous, unconstitutional.”Vayr ge hargit already, Lose yourself among the dozens of rooms in your Vermont mansions, so that even maggots and blowflies will get lost trying to follow the stench of your accursed, miserable rotting corpse. And yet, with all the gloom and doom predicted, this happened: Global stocks gained and gold traded near record highs on Thursday as investors took in their stride the potential ramifications of a U.S. government shutdown, while a weak private U.S. labor market report bolstered bets for Federal Reserve rate cuts. Investors have been largely sanguine about the shutdown’s impact on the markets and economy, helped by data of past shutdowns that showed limited fallouts. Morgan Stanley, for example, said U.S. share prices have risen an average 4.4% while real U.S. economic growth has expanded 2.2% during shutdowns in the past. Elsewhere, out in southern California last night . . . A massive fire erupted at a Chevron oil refinery outside of Los Angeles on Thursday night, forcing residents to shelter in place following multiple reports of an explosion. Californians said they felt the blast come from Chevron’s refinery — the company’s second-biggest site in the US — in El Segundo, Calif., at around 9:30 p.m., the Los Angeles Times reported. “I thought we got nuked or something,” Mark Rogers told the outlet, saying his adult soccer league match in Redondo Beach was canceled moments later because of the heavy smoke coming from the blaze roughly 6 miles away.Well, here's a golden opportunity for Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass to seize the land and convert it into low-income housing while at the same time destroying the fossil fuel industry. Win-win, nein?! With everything going on in the world and here at home, it would not surprise me if this was not the result of enemy action. Foreign or domestic enemies or some combination of both given the nature of global Islam and communism. Speaking of the former, It won't be long now before Albion wakes up to discover Westminster Abbey is now Hagia Sophia 2, Global Caliphate boogaloo. Right on the heels of a Yom Kippur terror attack in Manchester, we had this madness in London, right at Keir Starmer-bahnfuhrer's doorstep! After the Muslim terrorist attack at a Manchester synagogue on Yom Kippur, PM Keir Starmer made remarks claiming that he’s going to fight “antisemitic hatred”. It might have be more useful to fight Islamic terrorism, but in any case his party’s base would like to go in a very different direction. As they showed when they showed up as a mob to protest not killing Jews. The “peaceful protest” was one of those that have “death” chants. And as I and others have stated here and elsewhere it won't be long before this insanity comes here if it isn't here already as the campus centered Jew-baiting in the wake of the 10/7 Gaza-led mass wave pogrom has shown. Have a great weekend! And lastly, a quick shout-out and thank you for your continued support in hitting our tip jar. It truly is appreciated more than you can know

The poll reflects the normal conflict between what people would prefer and what option they choose from the political alternatives. For example, a bare 51 percent majority of respondents — including 57 percent of independents — say Trump’s policies “have gone too far,” even though 52 percent support his deportation policies.

Republicans are winning not just in Congress but in culture and media, while Democrats stumble into shutdown fights over radical priorities and lose ground
Every agency, every Secretary, every spokesperson. They all hammer home that it's the Democrats who shut it down and they did it to give healthcare to illegals. No previous GOP Administration would have done that. They would have whimpered about how unfair it all is. Add to that the anemic impact that the legacy media has on pretty much anyone under the age of 60 and it's easy to see that, for once, the Democrats are fighting the last war. Inasmuch as Trump and his team spar with the media, the monolith remains the greatest threat to his mission, the truth, the country. He hasn't declared real war on them, not in the way required. Stephen Miller talks about going after the NGOs et al, but what we should be seeing is a daily, drumbeat campaign to mercilessly confront, degrade and humiliate the media. What is truly humorous is the way the Christian and the Southerner have been portrayed by the media over the years.
The ignorant hick Beverly Hillbillies. The backward, uneducated Duke boys, Cooter, Cletus, Roscoe P. Coltrane, and Boss Hogg of Hazzard County. Mama's Family with frumpy old church ladies. But indeed it is the sophisticated and highly educated New Yorkers and Californians with their Ivy League alums, Stanford grads and MIT geniuses, that worship baby murder, lop genitals off of children, glorify asshole fuckery and licking piss holes, and seek communism and the destruction of the nation and their communities, allowing criminal baboons to murder the populace and act like a Samsonite luggage commercial. Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. The “out of state refineries” he’s talking about are mostly in Indonesia and other East Asian countries, adding the costs of a several thousand mile journey to the effort.
A darkly amusing factoid about California’s plight; there are no major pipelines linking California to the Texas and Louisiana refineries (where most are now) and supertankers are too big to go through the Panama Canal. So in terms of the shipping journey required, Gulf State refineries are about 12,000 miles away from California. (Trains are about the only option , but one accident and blows up, literally.) Posted by: Drink Like Vikings at October 03, 2025 08:02 AM (iUmnB) Actually they do just catch fire and blow up quite easily unless everyone there operates at the peak level of professionalism; and maintenance schedules are rigidly followed, at great cost. One way I’ve thought that the Valero refinery could be saved: Trump could declare a National Economic Emergency and declare Martial Law over that Refinery and necessary surrounding areas. All State officials would be banned from trespassing on it, all sales would be made to the Fed Gov, and all State environmental and financial laws would be declared null and void for that exclusionary area. Then it would be profitable again.
But Trump would be called a Dictator operating only for greedy oil companies, and there would be a huge political firestorm. So overall it’s better just to kick back, do nothing, and allow California to destroy itself. Posted by: Tom Servo at October 03, 2025 08:51 AM (WZaJc) 150

Expedia insists I chose "Payment Schedule," which I don't see on my confirmation email, and so I have no proof that I did this. "Payment Schedule," they say, means I agreed that the hotel could collect the whole amount up front. I would never have chosen that -- and I can't get to their explanation of fees and deposits without creating an account. Infuriating. Good morning, all, and thanks, J.J.
Taximus Maximum, absolutely brilliant! I watched twice with enjoyment, and then it hit me it if "it were not so tragically on the money would be hilarious," as you wrote. And I thought about 9/11. From the 9/11 Memorial Museum FAQs: Why did the terrorists attack the World Trade Center and the Pentagon? In part, "The terrorists did not have the capacity to destroy the United States militarily, so they set their sights on symbolic targets instead. The Twin Towers, as the centerpieces of the World Trade Center, symbolized globalization and America’s economic power and prosperity. The Pentagon, as the headquarters for the U.S. Department of Defense, serves as a symbol of American military power. It is thought that Flight 93 was headed to the Capitol building, the center of American legislative government." And so, if Zohran Mamdani, wins the 2025 New York City mayoral election, he'd take office on January 1, 2026. 2026, a quarter century after 9/11/01, also marks the 250th anniversary of the United States, the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. 2026 legislative government? Yeah, F'ed too. And the Pentagon? Posted by: L - No nic, another fine day at October 03, 2025 09:38 AM (NFX2v) 242

Betting you need a TWIC card to be inside the gate in that Chevron facility and that there's a port. I'd like to see the Feds declare it sovereign and not a part of California. Under federal law and rebuild. Like that little sliver of land by the southern border. We also need another sliver for the snow Mexicans but OT.

226 @172 San Franpsycho-Chevron has threatened for years(rightfully so) on closing, but it’s not. The contractor I am working for has just finished up installing a bunch of new heavy wall pipe in one of their units.
Posted by: JROD -------------------- Chevron has a deep affection for CA that has endured over a century. It, with extreme reluctance moved it's HQ to TX. Posted by: Braenyard - some Absent Friends are more equal than others _ at October 03, 2025 09:57 AM (KOTyL) 249
It's the Valero refinery at Benicia that's closing, not Chevron.

240 So what happens to the economy if we lose that whole refinery permanently. Cali regs = not a chance in hell to rebuild. Posted by: Smellslikevictory
>NBC 10, EPA reaches historic $4.2M settlement over 2019 Philly refinery explosion, fire; Published October 9, 2024 "The explosion and subsequent fire on June 21, 2019, eventually forced the refinery to close after being in operation for 150 years. At the time, it was the largest oil refining complex on the East Coast, processing 335,000 barrels of crude oil daily. The EPA filed the claim in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware because the company entered bankruptcy shortly after the explosion. The 1,300-acre site where the refinery had stood was sold in 2020 and is being redeveloped into industrial space and life sciences labs. It remains under a cleanup agreement under the oversight of the EPA and Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection." ------ Philly has become much more politically polarized over the past 5 years. (Today may be the opening of a 3 day antifascists' conference there.) OTOH, Houston is now the poorest big city in the nation. Philly nudges & dumps its undocs towards the collar counties & beyond. Two refineries in CA have already closed, two more are closing in the next year, now the fire will shut down this Chevron refinery. They were already slated to lose 17% of their overall capacity. Now they will lose another 8%? Gas prices are going to go thru the roof in CA.
