Donald Trump's speech to the United Nations was one of the clearest expositions of the way he sees the world, his ideology in its rawest form. To his supporters, it will be seen as Trumpism unplugged; to his critics, Trumpism unhinged. Over almost an hour, he took aim at his opponents and their ideas, picking them off one by one as he toured the world. He began at home, praising the United States and himself. He said the US was living through a golden age and repeated his much-disputed claim that he had personally ended seven wars, something he argued merited a Nobel Peace Prize. But then the president laid into his hosts. The UN, he said, had not helped his peace-making. He questioned the organisation's purpose, saying it had tremendous potential but was not living up to that. All it did, he claimed, was write strongly worded letters that it did not follow up. Empty words, he said, did not end wars. He also attacked the UN for the aid it gave to asylum seekers hoping to enter the US, saying "The UN is supposed to stop invasions, not create them and not finance them." The president even attacked the UN for a broken escalator and teleprompter that disrupted his visit and speech. On one level, he has a point. Many analysts question the effectiveness of the UN in resolving conflict these days, pointing in particular to gridlock in the Security Council and the body's unresponsive bureaucracy.

He criticised in particular the UK government for imposing new taxes on North Sea oil. "If you don't get away from the green energy scam, your country is going to fail," he said. "I love Europe. I love the people of Europe. And I hate to see it being devastated by energy and immigration. This double-tailed monster destroys everything in its wake... you want to be politically correct and you are destroying your heritage." Note that last point. It echoes what the president said during his state visit to the UK last week when he spoke of the importance of defending the values of what he called "the English-speaking world". There is a cultural edge to Mr Trump's criticism of Europe, a sense that he believes uncontrolled immigration is threatening what he sees as Europe's Judeo Christian heritage. Not for nothing is Trump the leader of an administration that wears its religion firmly on its sleeve. "Let us protect religious liberty," he told the UN, "including for the most persecuted religion on the planet today -- it's called Christianity."

Perhaps as much as 80% (or more) of all Federal taxes amounted to grift. How would birth rates look if younger and middle-aged earners were paying only 20% of the taxes they pay today? Would they be more inclined to start families, and stick with them if they got to keep more of what they made?

American Indian Citizenship was established by an Act of Congress, the Indian Citizenship Act. That's the model for how the birthright citizenship situation should be dealt with - bill passed by House and Senate, signed by the President.

It's like how the left was howling that Trump was so divisive in his speech at Charlie's memorial for saying he hates his enemies. Well, he was SHOT AT and almost was Charlie Kirk'd himself. The Tylenol poisoning case happened in 1982 in Chicago. Seven people died from taking Extra Strength Tylenol which had been laced with cyanide.
That's what prompted all the tamper-resistant bottle caps and other packaging.
The case remains unsolved, although one suspect was arrested for writing an extortion letter -- they're not sure if he did it or not. There were some copycats, and a woman murdered her husband with cyanide laced Excedrin, attempting to blame it on the Tylenol murderer.

Actually, it's a happy accident that they are part of today's NATO. In the not too distant future, China is going to start making a move on the Arctic for resources. They currently refer to themselves as a "Near-Arctic State", which is a name they pulled out of thin air to help justify what they plan to do.
Sweden and Finland hold claim to Arctic regions and when China comes knocking (without invitation) there is going to have to be a way to discourage that behavior. And, while that wasn't the purpose of NATO's formation, it will be instrumental eventually.

That lady arrested for saying she hates the Quran to some street Islamists was troubling. But the video cuts out , and I don't know if she did something actually illegal in the missing part, like grabbing their books and tearing them up, or hitting someone. But they are arresting people for words, even arresting or confiscating phones if a teen girl for liking a problematic tweet. So honestly I'm assuming she did nothing.
But if Charles were Muslim, this is exactly the treatment his subjects would be getting under a Muslim house if Windsor.
Meanwhile in the UK, a large guy grabbed a meal without paying for it, punched a worker gal in the face, and left causing mayhem. And wasn't arrested as far as I can tell.

Thunderstorm fronts + Cold = bad news. In the 70s there was a bad one, the ice filled the street between the curbs full and froze and would not melt. Finally when it was spring they had to chip every street and pile it up on the grass areas to allow normal driving again.

All they had to do was slash budgets when they came back from covid. They didn't shows at their homes, for goodness sake. Could have easily slashed the budget $20 mill and probably been fine. In my circle of friends and acquaintances, multiple people have told me they were shocked and saddened at the hate that so many of their supposed "friends" posted on social media. A few told me they cancelled them, and two told me they eliminated all their social media accounts.
The two that did are a generation or more younger than me. I was surprised, but congratulated them for their actions.
So many reasonable people were disgusted at what they read from people they thought they knew.
