68 Work continues on de-Bubbafying the Avanti. I wanted to rig in a cable throttle, because the pushrod and bellcrank linkage was poorly done, and not really appropriate for an SBC with a Q-jet on it. So...I had to clear some space on the firewall just to the right of the steering column. Oh, my! Around the steering column was a bulging sheet of rubber, held own by sheet metal screws, and huge dollop of windshield urethane. Peel all that out, and the bulge was revealed to be a wire conduit coming through the firewall via the hole where the clutch push rod used to be. Yeah, the car used to be a standard shift; they just sawed the clutch pedal off. The wire conduit is the same one that went to the neutral safety switch and backup lamp switch. And, Aha! The pair of wires for the neutral safety switch just ended inside the conduit and were taped up. So it never had a working neutral safety switch since before I owned it. Never tried cranking it in gear, because why would I? Snip. And the steering column jacket had zero real support at the firewall. So I am making up two half-plates with "L" brackets to clamp to the column jacket. Got the top one made and bolted in, now.

One damned thing leads to another. When I find something outrageously Bubba-fied, I feel kind of honor-bound to make it more better. Not necessarily stock, but mechanically sound, and as safe as I can reasonably make it. All those sharp sheet metal screws sticking out on the engine side of the firewall were like rattlesnake fangs waiting to strike an errant hand.

Harleys don't swallow tools, they swallow nuts and washers you're trying to get started in tight spots. There are areas where you have to install a washer, a lock washer, AND get a nut started with one hand and all at the same time. Then if you drop it you have to make sure you find it all so it didn't drop somewhere that can cause problems, like laying on the rear belt drive which will then act as a nice conveyor belt that will feed it into the rear pulley to do all kinds of damage. A lot of times you don't hear it hit the lift table, so you know its still on the bike somewhere. Occasionally it will be sockets. You have to work with extensions a lot too, because you need to work away from the bike and not be beating $3000 paint jobs with a ratchet handle if you slip. You know how that goes, pull the ratchet away, socket stays on the bolt, comes off the extension, then falls somewhere into the bike.

Charlie was the most successful young organizer on our side in my lifetime. 100 million people around the world watched his memorial service. That's why the killed him, they were terrified by him because he was winning.

Before I retired, had to work with a particular bitch that would tempt, insult, provoke me *every day* (lets just say we had a personality conflict) and it was just like being in middle-school again.

After a month, I told her to "fk off, bitch, and leave me alone."

Unlike the other side, I think the right knows the absolute brutal levels of destruction that can be wrought. That and the fact that it won't be breaking windows and hauling off TVs. It will be targeted, personal, efficient, and hell on earth. Nobody is prepared to be "that" guy yet, but patience is definitely running out.

Handed him my license and paperwork... he let me go with a warning and a threat to really make things hurt if I got pulled over again within the next 30 days.

Asshole. Where was HE when some junkie MFr broke into Dad's house? Which had happened only a couple weeks before my traffic stop.

I consider myself pro-cop. But I absolutely believe that when they get into a bad mood, and *don't* have the mental/emotional discipline to get it together, horrific things happen.

Doesn't help that cops oftentimes have unions or informal 'associations' that from what I can tell can be just as toxic as fed employee and/or teachers unions. They get backup from lots of people, no matter how much they fuck up.

No, it's really not. That's selfish. Even God demands that to be forgiven one must first ask for forgiveness. Are you wiser than God?

The practice of unilateral forgiveness originated in extreme cases where the perp stubbornly refused to repent or was unable to (death, etc) as a way for the victim to find closure. It was meant to be an exception not the standard.

And while it's true the same argument has been used to convince victims who stubbornly refused to let go of their anger, that's not the primary reason we forgive.

Imagine, a tourniqet is recommended as a last resort to stop the bleeding, but we don't elevate that to replace applying pressure on the wound as the standard practice. That is what you are doing.

Therapeutic Forgiveness is not Christian Forgiveness. It looks beautiful and noble, like most New Age bullshit. If unilateral forgiveness is the norm then what is the point? One could just steamroll through life as Jesus rubber stamps absolution behind you. Auto-salvation and you're not even aware of your sins as they wash away.

294 And my apologies but it really does sound like a virtue signal, not for Erica Kirk - that poor woman has lost so much and so unfairly, it may have been the only way for her to maintain her sanity. But for everyone else? Mounting the cross so you can be like Jesus and mimic "forgive them Father for they know not what they do" feels cheap and fake. So I find it suspect.
