And you see that word "protect" I keep throwing quotes around? Yeah, that's a quote from Matt Gutman, not the killer.

Matt Gutman fabricated the "I killed him to protect you" line out of whole cloth to give the killer an understandable and sympathetic, heroic and self-sacrificial motive that justifies the killing.

They fabricated a quote to try and make the shooter look better.

Meanwhile, on Monday, Jimmy Kimmel spread very, very dangerous misinformation -- for real -- claiming that the killer is MAGA.

Last night, he refused to walk that back, letting his dangerous lie stand as his official claim on the matter.

ABC itself has refused to correct the misinformation.

ABC holds taxpayer-funded broadcast licenses with the explicit legal duty to serve in the 'public interest' with fair and truthful coverage.
Yet Jimmy Kimmel went on air and told the ABC audience that Charlie Kirk's assassin was a MAGA conservative, effectively blaming Charlie Kirk for his own assassination.
Then he accusing the right of covering it up to "score political points."
All of these statements are false and malicious lies told at the expense of one of the most horrific acts of left-wing political violence in American history.
If ABC refuses to issue a full on-air apology from Kimmel and corrective action their broadcast license should be revoked by the federal government immediately. I have reached out to the @FCC and @BrendanCarrFCC for comment and action on this issue.
These are the kind of vicious, dehumanizing lies that led to this current moment of radicalized, deadly leftist violence.
@ABC must be held accountable.

I was thinking about this the other day, specifically calling giving exogenous cross-sex hormones "hormone treatment" or "hormone therapy." There's nothing actually wrong with their endocrine systems, at least that we know of. There is no physiological issue that is being treated or alleviated. If you gave chemotherapy or radiation to someone you knew not to have cancer, you'd be charged with fraud, lose your medical license, maybe even face criminal charges. It has had a few bad years with movies (and Disney+ continues to be a money pit), but one good year (like last year) undoes a lot of shit from previous years.

In terms of parks, they're still down from pre-covid heights, but still getting 17 million visitors a year (latest data is from 2023).

Cruises are huge moneymakers as well, and they're aggressively expanding there with at least three new ships coming out in the next year.

Parks don't seem able to grow (they're not shrinking) and facing intense competition, especially in Orland (Universal has said that Epic Universe increased their market share, which doesn't surprise me), and the cruises seem to be steady money makers (if only DeSantis hadn't opened the ports during covid...).

The television division is dying like all television and streaming is a money pit.

It's a mixed picture, but held afloat by cruising mostly and a decent park situation that hasn't gotten nearly as bad as some attention grabbing headlines have indicated.

I am not sure where you are getting your data, but I think you are incorrect. According to ACT, a 34 converts to about a 1,500 on the SAT, and that is excellent but not amazing. And a 34 is just above the 99th percentile on the ACT...not well beyond.

As for a clinical definition for genius? Uh...it ain't the 1930s any more.

Took a look, basically Disney has raised prices substantially in their Q2 2025 including meals, lodging, and tickets to parks. Cruise ship fares up 9 percent. All of this depends on a narrower more well heeled clientele being able to continue to shell out more money and due to structural changes in the economy, I predict slowing growth for top end salaries due to labor pressures at the bottom of hiring. That is why companies are desperately trying to use AI solutions to cut wages.

All these companies have been structured on offering minimal wages (due to immigration) for their actual operating staff and using those cost savings to boost earnings and pay to senior staff. Now, the labor market for those crucial operating staffs are going to be more and more expensive (think 1950's) except there is no reserve pool of unemployed females to be had.

There is a secular shift in the labor market of the last 50 years and that is going to put pressure on any firm relying on cheap labor and higher prices to put out product. Or they have to start economizing at the executive level.

368 I'd argue the ACT but none of my kids took it. they were all better at math than verbal so the SAT made sense. the ACT is heavily weighted towards "subjective" things. actual straight math is less than a third of it, maybe more like a quarter. wasn't worth it for them.

they - all of them! - tend to have different, and interesting, takes on reading tests. they're not wrong but not "the answer."

regardless I think Tyler is in fact very smart. Pretty sure 34 is a great score! my three almost perfect math half, but super ouch verbal half (of SAT). with the one I always said "it's like English is a second language for him or something" lol. just thinks differently.

They depreciated that IP to the point that Indiana Jones and Star Wars never got the new fans in to replace the older dying ones. Marvel and superhero movies are now less and less enticing and made less so by overreliance on horrible CGI and bad scripts.

Streaming is an option but the continuing shoehorning in vile adult sexuality into their kids networks is beginning to bite them hard on new uptake.

Like most conglomerates, decline takes a while, then suddenly something pops. ITT, ATT, and others have went down that road.

It is a mature company with less upside and more risks long term as it slowly grinds to a halt.

A lot of students are lazy, or poorly taught. Most are one or both.

Think about it like this: not many people can run a 7-8 minute mile because it requires a lot of running discipline and dedication.

But that number of people *dwarfs* the number of actually exceptional people who can run a 4-5 minute.

Standardized test scores are like that. It proves you studied. That's about it.

New stuff is almost all crap so most people just ignore it as they should. Even when a good show does come around, it's largely ignored. I didn't even realize there was a new Jurassic Park movie (not Disney, I know, but similarly done to death) until I was reading about its lackluster box office. Nobody cares. Sounds about right. My inlaws used to be big Disney fans and took their kids annually. Got too expensive to do so for them several years back. They go skiing, hunting trips, Florida Keys trips instead for less money and hassles.

Disney is purposefully aiming parks to the well heeled (and apparently so is Vegas) which has risks (same as CA or NY relying on taxing billionaires to fund government). If they don't come, Disney still has fairly massive debt load for a mature company and cable/tv has become a deadweight for them. Delay in selling is only going to lower the price received.

They are mature, unlikely to go belly up in the next year or so but 5-10 years out may not be so kind to them without serious restructuring.

I disagree. The main issue is the people that really bought into the whole process of Disney mania have been driven off entirely. And the lack of large families means the need for the whole family deals return less and less. Above 99.7% for 3 std deviations, that's a more realistic approximation for what an average person would consider genius, imo. 2 std deviations is way too generous.

SAT/ACT aren't practical IQ tests anyways. There are people that spend years prepping for these tests some even taking them a dozen times to get the result they want. They are a decent predictor of college GPA and whether someone is capable of studying.

I took the ACT hung over a bit from a party. Not a great score. Went to junior college because my mother said I could not fly high with TWA til I had some college. Then I took microbiology and my path changed. I did well for a dumb ACT score. In fact I went on to be very good.

So I don't believe in scores. I'd probably score super dumb in algebra but high in trigonometry. My brain fires on being unique, but not so special I murder people. Plus, I'm a retired supermodel.

Some parents make a BIG DEAL out of scores. Which is fine, but they should not make their kids feel like little untouchable genius level humans. I have seen this growing up and those people mainly grew up to be narcissists. So far not murdering jerks.
