While two mercenaries cast bullets and a third, seated behind them, seems to be inspecting one, others engage in revelry and a man and woman converse. Despite these apparent incongruities, the meticulous painting technique renders the scene convincing. Gérôme traveled to Egypt many times from 1855 onward. His recollections of these journeys, together with objects that he brought back to Paris, became ingredients for scenes which today might be regarded as historical fictions. The title of this work derives from the stock book of Gérôme’s dealer, who bought the painting from the artist in 1884, presumably soon after he finished it.

All things considered, I'd rather have a warm Yoohoo. What I do instead is get a latte, so the coffee taste gets drowned out as much as possible.

I knew a guy whose job at JITB was to clean the toilets. When they were short staffed, he worked on food prep.
He was NOT the type of fella one would assume has good hand hygiene. I don't think I've been to a JITB ever since.
I know that's irrational, that was back in St. Louis, and frankly, all fast food restaurants have guys who go from cleaning toilets to preparing the food.

Broadcast licensees sign agreements and are subject to regulation from the FCC to maintain their access to gov owned airwaves. That the FCC has failed to enforce those regulations for literally decades doesn't make the regulations less lawful.
That an FCC commissioner decided, "Hey, broadcast licensees should be subject to the regulations that they've agreed to hold to in exchange for access to the airwaves," is not jawboning. Kimmel very easily was in violation of 47 C.F.R. § 73.1217. He is on record as refusing to correct his violation of this. ABC not doing anything about it risks their agreement with the gov on how to run the airwaves they license out from the gov.
It's materially different from Biden telling Twitter to shut down accounts that challenged lockdown procedures.
The narrative that it's all jawboning also completely sidesteps the affiliates independently announcing the pre-empting of Kimmel's show.
Does it look bad for free speech? It does not, because broadcast networks don't actually have a blanket free speech protection while using govt owned airwaves.

I'll add that the bullet casting setup is accurate. People have been casting bullets, especially round ball, in the most basic manner for hundreds of years. A campfire will do the job. I've cast thousands of bullets over the years and I hope the mold and ladle have wooden or cloth handles because those things get damn hot. Also, anyone messing with molten lead without proper shoes is a fool asking for pain.

Over the last few weeks he alluded to some of his struggles. Was hoping he was working through them. Whether you agreed with him on topics or not, the world was a more interesting place with him in it. Losing him saddens me greatly. I hope he is at peace now.

I could see the troubles peek up from time to time in comments, but he always seemed to bounce back with good humor after a time.
He was fun to talk to. He was smart. He had particular insights that contributed to the comments section.

Yeah, funny that. Of the family members over 55 in 2020, each (I'm the only one not to) one with multiple shots now have 3 cases of Multiple Myeloma (including my wife), and 2 cases of severe vascular dementia. It's wiping out most of a generation...

Damn, my mother has vascular dementia diagnosis. Thanks for semi confirming my suspicions that the vaxx was designed around a vile evil engineered spike just like the virus was itself. Doesn't matter. Kimmel disobeyed his own company's demand that he apologize and instead wanted to weasel word and say what he wants. ABC affiliates had the right to demand ABC apologize or they weren't going to air the show to the detriment of corporate ABC's bottom line. So Kimmel goes as much for insubordination for refusing to apologize than being cancelled.
Carano was never offered that choice nor was she responsible for potential massive financial losses.

Ditto. And also very reluctant to take any Big Pharma potions that I can avoid. Covid vaxx experience taught me that the whole charade of FDA approvals, trials, etc. are contaminated by bad will from Big Pharma where results are manipulated to get the product to market.
And they figure even if the product is flawed, paying off settlements is cheaper in the long run than doing proper testing.

Corporations will always be fair weather friends because commercial motives moderate any ideological impulses if a market is competitive and not monopolistic.
But, I think the immediate threat is academia/education and the ngo complex that needs to be defunded. That eliminates the sinecures that nasty stinking lefties use to indoctrinate the young, populate the riots, pressure groups,and fake elections. Plus, these are the shock troops to clamp down on any societal impulse to fix the damage that the left has left in American society. Reactionaires so to speak.

The market, at times, needs to be protected from "over-benefitting" by trying to steer the market.
