Very common in classical art. It's called "Greek foot" or "Greek toe", due to its prevalence in Greek sculpture.
And I have no idea how I knew that. Deep memory from that GenEd art appreciation class I took as an undergrad, maybe.

But, I think a serious analysis of 2020 elections would indicate that Biden actually received probably about the same number of voters as Killary in 2016 but the ballots were simply that of make believe with a lot of that padding to 81 million coming from cheat by mail states on the West Coast and other blue states.

I really think it's no more than name recognition stemming from being Obama's VP.
Black primary voters trusted him more than any of the others. So, SC saw him winning that primary by double digits from the moment polling started. Clyburn saying "vote for Biden" five minutes before the primary vote didn't suddenly make polling from a year earlier show Biden winning the state.
As time goes on, black women become an increasingly large part of the Democrat primary electorate, and it's only gotten worse since 2020.

once in office, she said the only way to fix the roads was to add 26 cents per gallon to the gas tax, taking the gas tax from 48 cents per gallon to 74 cents per gallon (for reference, California's gas tax is just under 71 cents)

TJM, dunno if you know this but in the South, the Black Church network is the urban and to a lesser extent statewide political machine and Clyburn is the current one coordinating that network. They man the polls in urban areas, control who is election director, funnel personnel to GOTV and vote harvesting ops, and have a long historical tradition of 'bloc' voting.
For a variety of historical reasons, black churches are the parallel political organization to the Dems and before the New Deal, for GOP believe or not in Southern states. The black diaspora made this network important in certain Midwest urban places too like Detroit, Cleveland, and Milwaukee, less so in NYC and Chicago (more commie influences there).
Essentially the black church community is less interested in Commie troon, etc. but play along with it despite grumbles because it is the Gimmedat faction.

Aging out of voting cohorts--the Silents were more GOP favorable being socialized in the days of Ike more or less. The Boomers were socialized in the ages of JFK, LBJ, and the failed presidencies of Nixon/Ford but more importantly during the Civil Rights Era. Bipartisan reprogramming to racism, sexism, abortion rights, drugs, plus the blaming of the Vietnam War on Nixon instead of LBJ turned a big proportion of Baby Boomers left.
And their main stream media bubble watching network TV and reading big city papers kept them there.

I would agree but the Millennials are still within the range of reprogamming beliefs by and large from political socialization studies. Gen X , Boomers, and Silents are unlikely to change much on voting behavior at this point.
You will probably get a divergence in Millennials based on those that get married and have kids going to the right even if they started on the left (see ShoeOnHead as example) versus the cat ladies and aging soyboy leftists going further left.
Having kids and being married are powerful counteractives to insane democrat policies on crime, education, and sexual deviancy support.

I am not sure what happened to Dolley last night, but she earnestly told me we have to delete our Facebook accounts. She mentioned AI scrubbing of photos, but she also referenced obliquely her continued belief that the world is going to shit and we're all going to die.

Anyway, I'm never going to ask specifically what prompted this, but being so soon after the Kirk slaying tells me it's related to that. If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say that her FB, dominated by high school friends from rural AL, is all, "We have to go to war," and she freaked out which is probably messing with the "prominent Christian assassinated" thing (she had a freakout when Trump did the pope AI image) which messes with the "conservatives are fascist" thing (again...fun).
I've been telling her to delete her social media for a couple of years because it just feeds this paranoia. So...maybe she'll start to calm the fuck down.

I'd like to think I would have been hardcore libertarian and conservative regardless of the era -- but who knows?
I distinctly remember reading newspaper editorials as a teenager and always agreeing with the conservative op-eds and disagreeing with the liberals.
William Safire in particular persuaded me when he noted simply that conservatives value Liberty and Freedom over Safety and Security -- as opposed to liberals who valued the opposite.

FB is useful for businesses or joining a community group that doesn't discuss politics, for instance sharing contact info of contractors and tradesmen. Or FB Marketplace. But other than that it is reddit Lite.
and I don't like the idea of children's images being plastered all over facebook.

I would get Congress to give Trump a national address before them regarding political violence. The only fly in the ointment is budgetary politics right now--my guess is a partial government shutdown coming soon.
But re national speeches, Reagan, after the assassination, did one and it rolled the Dems up on the tax bill. It pins the Dems on the floor to cheer or sit sullenly while Trump would go on about common 90/10 solutions to rampant crime, mentally ill killing people, and assassinations.
As a two time that we know about survivor of such, he has the ability to engage on this subject.

The current motor fuel excise tax rate in Michigan as of September 17, 2025, is 30.0 cents per gallon for both gasoline and diesel. This rate took effect on January 1, 2024, and will remain in place until the end of the year, when it is scheduled to increase to 30.93 cents per gallon on January 1, 2025, based on an inflation adjustment of 3.1% from the 2024 rate.
Additionally, Michigan applies a 6% sales tax on gasoline, which equates to about 18 cents per gallon at an average price of $3.00 per gallon, bringing the total state tax to approximately 48 cents per gallon. As a very late Boomer technically, I think probably the 1960-1964 Boomers more resemble Gen X. By the political coming of age for this group, Vietnam and draft was not a live issue, the ERA was taking on water and failing, the Carter years were a friggin disaster in the world and US, the glow was off the endless Civil Rights campaigns because affirmative action was beginning to bite on the whites and young males, and economic opportunity/world politics was seen as far better with the GOP,
Americans held hostage and the fecklessness of Carter made a powerful impression that the Dems were weak and clueless on foreign policy for late bloomers and early Gen X. Ironically, I would bet that ABC News thought that Koppel might pave the way for Ted Kennedy in 80 like LBJ was going to get sidelined by RFK in 68.
