He talked at great length about the time he had a racist encounter with a city of Toronto policeman some 20 years ago and talked about the need for empathy for people of different skin colors.
Anyhow he came within a red C hair of calling Kirk and all his supporters racist. He didn't quite cross that line but came awfully close.
He also said Charlie Kirk "professed" to be a Christian, which struck me as weaselly and a legalese way of expressing doubt about Kirk's Christianity.
In short I am perturbed.

Before you go on, read the actual statement and the damned speech. And yes, true threats can be a subset of hate speech but criminalized because there are already existing statutes that make it so and hate speech provisions in conjunction with a crime have already been considered constitutional by Scotus.
True threats are NEVER protected under the 1st Amendment--the only question is how to define a true threat--immediacy is one of the requirements, some sign of means and opportunity (as in scouting terrain, taking pictures of target, buying a gun, etc.) and being in the right location to execute the threat.

Because normal people aren't particularly interested in harassing random people in the sole hopes of causing a decade long legal action.
The Office Depot thing made the news because it's a very common thing to get a photo made into a posterboard there for funerals and vigils. Very few losers are interested in scouting out a bakery with pride flags and spending their afternoon trying to provoke a confrontation with them.

I was and am very sad Charlie Kirk has gone from us but in heaven for eternity. Very sad for his young family and friends.
Due to being me, which may be good or bad, since a teen I am fairly calm during anything. Working in an ED in charge of stuff made me teflon. When you work in an ED during an active construction addition with jackhammers and trying to talk on the phone makes me extra hard to crack.
I'd say my faith and ability to switch gears since I was very young has helped me in anything (so far). Having a new month old baby granddaughter soothes my soul as well. Today it is white wine on the deck.
Look around you. See beauty. Find things to be thankful for. That is what Charlie would want for everyone. He did not die in vain.
