The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

24 years ago our relaxed post-cold-war, end-of-history world changed.

But did it? Or was it that our perspective had become so relaxed that we lost sight of the reality of the human condition, and the even more brutal reality that there were, are, and always will be forces aligned against the best and highest expression of our humanity.

Part of the problem is that we have also lost sight of what that humanity is, and have lost sight of the true face of those who are allied against that humanity.

Our founders knew very well what that humanity is, and knew that without a robust structure protecting it, we would lose it. Our glorious Constitution gave us that structure, and the Bill Of Rights codified the rights that must be protected.

But the true face of those who would destroy our humanity is difficult to discern in a world that carefully rejects clear morality, and much prefers the murky and unstructured view that we are all able to create a moral and ethical structure out of whole cloth.

We can't. There is evil in this world, and no amount of obfuscation and moral relativism can hide that. Islam is evil, and its single-minded purpose is the destruction of exactly what makes us human. And those who would subvert the essence of what makes us unique are also evil. Celebrating transsexualism, stealing our free speech, destroying the family, making love of God a nasty punchline, killing the most innocent among us... all of this and more conspires to steal our individualism and make us just cogs in their infernal machine.

Because evil will never rest, and will do whatever it takes to destroy those who love and respect humanity, we must be vigilant forever.

And there are those among us who are more than vigilant. We are blessed with people who not only are aware of the evil around us, but also join the fight against it.

There was no one in the world who fought harder and better against the encroaching evil than Charlie Kirk. Not with his fists, but with his intellect and wits and love of humanity.

Charlie Kirk was our Happy Warrior!

Who is the happy Warrior? Who is he

That every man in arms should wish to be?

The arrant nonsense spewed by evil that Charlie Kirk was a racist and a Nazi and a White Supremacist and hated gays doesn't survive a cursory examination of his work. His skill at refuting evil while still able to smile and love was astonishing, and it is all the more impressive when one appreciates the vitriol that was heaped on him everywhere he went. But he kept doing it, and he made a real difference.

When people stop talking, really bad stuff starts. When marriages stop talking, divorce happens. When civilizations stop talking, civil war ensues. When you stop having a human connection with someone you disagree with, it becomes a lot easier to want to commit violence against that group.
What we as a culture have to get back to is being able to have reasonable disagreement -- where violence is not an option.

Yes, change it did. We started importing millions of unvetted slimy murderous Muslims. We did nothing while they attacked us and metastasized into an incurable cancer that is still killing the country today.

We also started surveilling and harassing our own citizens in a way that would make Orwell blush. We did nothing when we realized this new system was being used by Democraps as weapons against their political enemies (us).

I wish I was more optimistic today. I'm not. With the pretty girl murdered earlier this week, Charlie murdered yesterday, and 9-11 today, I'm only reminded that no matter how much we talk and brag about how great Trump is doing -- and he is -- the reality is we are still the prey, and we don't seem to want to do anything about it.

I mean, people dance all around the issue, but if the law cannot protect us and the police cannot protect us and the organs of propaganda are bent on undermining and destroying us, at some point we are going to have to take matters into our own hands. And normals are going to have to risk imprisonment and martyrdom.

I pray that it doesn't come to that, but since the fringe is close to becoming the larger part of the carpet, how do you vote your way out of this mess? How do you fight toxic culture when it's being taught in the schools everyday, to millions of children? I honestly don't know.

I remember believed that about Rush L. even many years after I flipped to conservative. Finally tried listening to him around 2005. I was amazed that he was nothing like that I had been told. Really opened my eyes to the lies we are immersed in and accept unquestioningly. Breaking through that barrier with leftists, moderates or LIV's is not easy. Charlie Kirk was very good at it and why he had to be removed.

My best guess is Iowahack was trying to distance himself from Charlie's strong religious beliefs. You know, because they are icky and the thing that most drives the left insane and murderous.

I'm not religious myself, but I'm having a hard time finding a political or cultural position that I had a material disagreement with Charlie on. In fact, on the main issues I think we were in perfect agreement.

81 Repeating something I commented on in the previous thread, since it ties into 9/11:

I thought I'd wake up in despair today, and I'm not. I don't know why, but my social media algorithms last night were pulling up young gen z and millennials talking how inspirational Charlie was, the knowledge and hope he gave to them, and how they are going to take his message of courage and love and God and move forward with it.

That surprised me. But it also comforted me as I drifted off to sleep. There are still good people out there, and a young generation waking up to the evil in their midst and wanting to do something useful about it.

There are the dumpster fire people on the left and right, of course. The ones dancing on his grave or calling for civil war. But the messages I saw last night and am seeing today? It's more like the feeling on 9/12, the day after the twin towers fell, where people united in love and community. I didn't think I'd ever get that feeling back. Glad to have it today of all days.

Bless Charlie for his messages on courage and faith resonating the way they have, and for the new generations bringing a message of hope, not hate, to the world. May his words inspire.

Iowahawk and a lot of other secular types often grew up in fairly religious circumstances either directly via family or indirectly via their society around them. Somewhere along the way, usually through education, friends, etc., they pick up the nasty habit of bigotry where they dismiss the Bible as fairy stories, they dismiss the good because they saw hypocrisy (preachers on the take, claiming virtue when promiscuous, etc. etc.) and come to the conclusion that religion is just fake and a superstitions of a past age.

They begin to make themselves into their own idols and if it feels good, do it becomes the mantra. Some maintain the facade of religious attendance for social reasons but they migrate to those churches that put up Coexist, speak of love, not duties, and put as little of a burden on sinners as possible to keep them coming to that church.

There was some guy with a cell phone who noticed someone laying down on the rooftop before the shooting. Apparently did not bother to tell anyone. And apparently no security saw him either? Seems just like the Butler situation. Where people saw someone on the roof and even told law enforcement about him. In this case, not sure the cell phone video person told anyone.

He told me he just heard on the radio that a plane hit the WTC. We both thought it was probably one of the traffic flights that give updates on the news. I told him my flight might be delayed because of it and I'd call him from Logan.

By the time I got to Logan all hell was breaking loose. One of the restaurants was just setting up for the day but they let those of us who were there, turned on the TVs and gave us free coffee. And then every cop in the world descended on us and told us we had 10 minutes to get out of the airport or we would be detained.

My mom lost a cousin who was at work in the WTC. I will never forget that day.

So clearly he and Charlie disagreed on LGBT issues and lifestyle choices. But he said Charlie was always, always, respectful and kind to him, and they had dinners together and were friends. They became friends early on in his conversion to conservatism, and stayed friends.

That's how it should be. Charlie lived what he taught, and spoke the truth as he saw it, but was always willing to open up a dialogue or open up a hand of welcome.

Because a few Orem PD and the campus cops were the first ones responding (IIRC six or so). The old dude was apparently behaving weirdly and the second dude apparently had a pellet gun in his possession moving through the area. It was not as if the Secret Service had a cordon around the entire area with outside vetting.

Meanwhile, in the confusion, the apparent murderer ran and escaped but there was never a cordon around the scene taht would have prevented him/it from leaving as he merged with the rest of the confused mass of students leaving the event in every which way.

So the one or two resident FBI agents at Orem probably arrived at the scene with the cops already having the old bald guy in custody and the sweep caught up a dude with the pellet gun. This was mebbe 30-60 minutes at a minimum so the shooter was well clear of campus by that time. Inevitable delay and confusion.

Old school Mausers generally have a fixed magazine with its feed lips built into the receiver itself that you have to load from the top--military versions allowed stripper clips to be inserted to load, civilian models normally don't have the stripper clip slots in the receiver bridge because they don't need to be able to reload quickly.

You can drop the bottom of a Mauser magazine to clean the area but without extensive mods,they don't have insertable magazines.

In other words, when a hostile group announces their intent to do harm, you have to take them at their word. 250 years ago you might run them out of town on a rail and get away with it, but not now. There needs to be a mechanism for expelling those that refuse to play by the agreed upon rules.

Or you can just convulse in civil war occasionally, that works. Otherwise we need enforcement of the basic tenets of the constitution with teeth.

You have no idea how security is at these types events do you. In fact, universities will gleefully pile on security charges to any group on the right sponsoring a speaker on campus while leftist speakers don't have to pay a dime. And the left always threatens violence when a rightward speaker comes to campus so the administrators use that to either ban the speaker or charge extremely high 'security' charges for the event.

For the most part, campus cops are ones that are either close to retirement and want a peaceful life or they are young and inexperienced trying to get a better paying gig with local law enforcement agencies. They ain't SWAT or super troopers by any means. And then most local law enforcement agencies in university towns are not going to be willing to put the manpower into securing rooftops,etc. unless they get paid to do so.

The security model is essentially a heckler's veto for the left.
