Time for Scotus to put Jacobson v. Massachusetts that allows mandatory vaccinations to rest. If it requires a probable cause to merely draw blood for a test, it should require the state to have a helluva lot more to mandate vaccines.
Jacobson in that case already had a very bad experience in Sweden with mandatory vax and had already had the vaccine at issue in Mass. Mass fined him anyway and Scotus backed that up.

I have autoimmune issues plus a genetic IGG3 subtype deficiency in resisting respiratory viruses So, after getting a bad case of Covid in 2021 then severe bronchitis immediately afterward. My entire immune system crashed and I suddenly had sudden spikes in BP to stroke level in an unpredictable fashion. Took monoclonal antibodies to end the problem months later.
Whether that fits long covid or not, I more or less had severe complications from that first go around. Worse the second time early in 2022 followed by pneumonia and the bp spikes. Then again in 2023 and had to take Pavloxid to stop that and by that time had all pneumonia vaxxes that existed.
Never recovered totally from those infections and they spiked my inflammatory arthritis to eleventy leaving further damage in joints, spine, etc.
Had to retire as a consequence.

Not quite. And only sort of.
Investors are out about $250 million. That's how much the market cap has shrunk over the past month. They didn't spend all that much on the rebrand yet. They had *planned* to spend $700 million. They didn't come anywhere close to that. A bunch of new signs went up and a few stores got turned into generic hipster restaurants. That wasn't free it, but it wasn't hundreds of millions. Not yet. Not ever, now.
The losses are in the huge stock declines, but even they aren't really close to $700 million. They can't be, because of the obvious question in this whole thing.
CBRL's market cap has mostly floated between $1.3 and $1.6 billion this year. It's down to $1.12 because of this debacle, but it has bounced around in that range otherwise, except for one spike. So the better question, in my mind, is why the executives thought committing ~50% of their market cap to rebranding was feasible. It's an expensive job to renovate restaurants, but half of the enterprise value?

I am going to put this as bluntly as I can....If I saw a black man doing anything to a white person that I did not know I would walk away. I know I would have done that much, at least. and if it was the jugular and not the carotid, direct pressure would have helped, at least somewhat. Arterial bleeding is very difficult, especially in the neck, and the torso. You can't apply a tourniquet. But, yes, I would have done something. At least be there.

I spent about a year or so learning the lingo and science behind viruses while I was laid up. Very early on, Indian researchers caught on that the virus had features that could only have come from being human made aka the furin cleavage and it was reengineered from earlier corono viruses in order to spread faster by being less lethal in the short run. That was promptly hushed up as the full Covid/Election Cheat/Lockdown machine was in high gear.
FWIW, Moderna had some inkling what was going on as they were issued patents that closely resembled the virus when in the wild shortly before go time that they later used for their vaxx.

Apparently then, the spike itself became a toxin and it tended to accumulate in different places for different people just like Covid appears to attack different organs in different people--probably due to viral receptors in that organ.
Natural immunity tended to destroy the spike entirely and cleanse it if the person had normal immune responses. Vaxxed people can't get the spike out of their system and booster makes it worse.

All the ladies at the hair salon I go to were talking about this. I was shown a video from it that was recently released. This young woman was completely aware of what was happening to her. Very awake after the knifing. This was no instantaneous murder. She looked mortified and utterly stunned. I imagine she just slowly died from blood loss as nobody around her dare help her out. It was devastating to see.

Blade work requires experience like you have. In my case, the Indiana Jones solution is better and I avoid places I cannot carry being retired now. That being said, KaBar makes their TDI knife that is effective for close end defense and easy to retain. Has basically a pistol grip with the same angle as a J Frame revolver. IIRC 3 inch and 5 inch blades with the same hilt.
As my dad was a Schrade Old Timer dealer way back when they were all American made with American steel, I have the big hunting ones too but too big of a pita to carry around and never learned proper knife fighting techniques.

I've had one of those for a couple of decades. I've used it twice while jogging--large dogs thought I would be a good target until I popped the baton open. The metal-on-metal sliding sound as it clicked into place startled both the dog both times--you could see the look on the dog's face as it had that "System recalculating look" as it paused its charge at me.
I've never had a reason to use it against a human, but I keep it in my car.

There's an awesome story out there of a Nepalese Gurkha taking a train while on leave from his unit. His train is swarmed by bandits. One of them tried to violate a young woman sitting next to the Gurkha. He was fine with being robbed, but they crossed the line.
He managed to kill several of them and chased the rest of them (about 40 total) off the train BY HIMSELF. Total badass.
Oh, he did suffer a bad cut on one hand.

Basically it is a thesis for the MAHA folks that ultraprocessed foods are bad for people but at the same time, many people find it difficult to make the time to cook themselves or have the budget to eat fresh. So as always, tradeoffs.
Believe me, I recognize them despite being able to cook most things from scratch from experience but being unable to do a lot of the prep work now for ingredients to do that.

Costs of ingredients and labor to cook it are the easiest costs to reduce by using pre-prepped food form food wholesalers like Sysco. They also tend to have the ability to buy into more expensive and visible locations and for travelers represent a sure level of mediocrity versus perhaps an intestinal adventure at a mom and pop.

I think the times this has been accurate are precious few. The history of man isn't the last few decades. It's mostly been brutal and required heroes all the time in many ways. Hell, the founding of this country isn't just a fairy tale, it's a time when people risked everything including their lives and those of their families for freedom and in the grand scheme not that long ago.
I think we lost something vital when we assumed we didn't need heroes every single day and just relied on government to make sure we didn't need them.
The line between civil society and brutality is very thin as has been demonstrated graphically over the last few years. We always need heroes.

But some of these chemicals we put in our food are byproducts of coal tar and petroleum.
God knows where all the preservatives, besides sodium, come from.

From what TJM said earlier though, it appears that some people did step up to help the woman but the video is slowed down by some sites. Whole attack took about 15 seconds. By measure, if your firearm is optimally placed and you are average in drawing, it takes at least 1.5 to 2 seconds to draw and make the fire/no fire decision and you might have to move for a clear shot.
From training and seeing endless videos of attacks--these attacks happen fast which is why distance is needed to figure out a response before the person can close with you.

Oh, I agree - at least about the food and service. The last time I was in one, I watched the cook preparing three of four breakfasts at once, and he was amazing in the rapidity and efficiency of his movements; practically artisanal waffle-making.
As to the customers...I never had any trouble with anybody, and there was only one time - in Jacksonville, Florida - that I got some ominous vibes. There were four Hell's Angels or some other motorcycle club guys, huge, hairy and decked out in black leather jackets. the thing is, they were the least scary people in there (probably around midnight).

As I'm sure everyone recalls, the school attack in Texas, there were cops INSIDE the building who were told to stand down, rather than confront the shooter.
We still don't know the whole story there. We do know though, there were parents outside ready to go in, and were threatened with arrest.

It's a form of Fraud. Bait and switch. The owners are adding an additional fee beyond the advertised menu price for food, so they don't have to pay a reasonable wage.
It's especially bad on places that automatically add the Tip, or a 'fee'.... flat... out... fraud.

A man who was declared "brain dead" in Nashik started moving and coughing while preparations were on for his final rites, his relatives alleged on Friday.
Bhau Lachke (19) from Trimbakeshwar taluka, had been declared brain dead by doctors at a private hospital at Adgaon after he sustained serious injuries in an accident some days ago, they claimed.
"While we were preparing for his funeral, he started moving and coughing. We rushed him to the district hospital, where is undergoing treatment at present. His condition is serious and he has been put on ventilator support," Lachke's relative Gangaram Shinde said.
Meanwhile, the management of the private hospital claimed Lachke was never declared dead, adding the family was confused over certain medical terms."

I dearly miss the fantastic music we had when I was growing up. The late 60's through the 70's into the 80's was absolutely golden and what we had was vinyl, bootleg cassettes and the devils handmaiden, 8-track. You had to go and find it.
But boy howdy was the music better in ever single way. Thank the powers pretty much everything is still buried somewhere on the tubes even if makes purists tut, tut. Still far better in almost every way than the new crap.
