The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

Israel is going to be vilified no matter what. The world, but in particular the hard left and Europe (but I repeat myself), will never forgive the Jews for not being totally destroyed by the Holocaust, and then having the temerity to rebuild their ancestral nation! How dare they! And then go and protect themselves from the unceasing attacks from Islam and the Arab nations and terror organizations surrounding Israel? Just awful!

After spending 75 years trying to find some sort of accommodation with their enemies, including giving them a huge amount of land and allowing virulent terrorist organizations to flourish just over its border, Israel was awakened on October 7th, 2023. Even the large leftwing in Israeli politics is questioning their deeply held belief that Jews and Arabs/Muslims can live peacefully. Not enough, because they are evil leftists, but still...

Striking Hamas leadership in Qatar is an escalation, and a stark warning to Hamas and others that they are not safe, no matter where they hide.

IDF strikes Hamas leaders in Doha, Qatar

Reuters reports an explosion in the Qatara neighborhood of Doha, the capital of Qatar. The IDF shortly afterward confirmed that strikes were conducted in the city targeting the Hamas leadership in Qatar.
A thick smoke cloud was spotted rising over the city.
Doha is one of the cities that has repeatedly hosted Hamas officials outside of Gaza, including for negotiations with Israel.
The IDF stated: "The IDF and ISA conducted a precise strike targeting the senior leadership of the Hamas terrorist organization."

All of the billions of western money they stole from the oceans of aid that poured into Gaza wasn't enough to protect them from those pesky Jews and their high tech weaponry and surveillance and intelligence. Those luxury buildings 1,100 miles from the fighting could have been halfway around the word...it wouldn't have mattered.

This is a clear signal that condemnation from the bien pensant Jew-haters in the West does not matter when the survival of Israel and the Jewish people is in question.

As Golda Meir said:

If we have to have a choice between being dead and pitied, and being alive with a bad image, we'd rather be alive and have the bad image.

Sadly, the West does not yet understand that we are in an existential battle ourselves! Islam is on the march, as it has been for 1,400 years. We are being invaded, and they are coming to conquer, not to assimilate. And Israel is the only Western country that is pushing back against Islam. It should be supported, or even ignored! But much of the West has decided that being on the side of head-chopping, women-hating 7th century savages over a pluralistic high-tech democracy makes some sort of sense.

And when Sharia arrives in London and Paris and Montreal, but Israelis are partying on the beach and enjoying their freedom, perhaps then the European elites will question their decisions!

In tepid defense of the average typical white female, they hector and scold american men because its safer, and more likely to have some measurable feedback which gives them a sense of control. And thats what they are after. If MAGA is defined as the voters who don't bother typically but came out for Trump because he's not uniparty, or habitual Democrat voters who supported him because their party is insane and he's not a typical Republican, then maybe?

Under that definition, "far right" would mostly be a subset of those who typically hold their nose and vote Republican (or have given up supporting the party due to its fecklessness). Funny thing, that...

The primary source of taxpayer funding for the British royal family is the Sovereign Grant, which covers the official duties of the monarch and other working members of the royal family. This includes the costs of maintaining royal residences, staff, travel, state visits, and official engagements. The Sovereign Grant is set at 12% of the Crown Estate's profits.

King Charles receives the Sovereign Grant directly and uses it for official duties. Prince William does not receive direct taxpayer funding but benefits from the net profits of the Duchy of Cornwall, which are separate from the Sovereign Grant.

So, if I'm reading that correctly, the British government seized a bunch of the Royals property and then, after the restitution, decided to pay for the Royals with part of the money raised by the stuff previously seized.

A much better description would take into account the desire for State control over individual freedoms, and on that level there was no gap at all between Hitler and Stalin, for example.

And we add a lot of social issues into the mix, which often do not coordinate at all with the State Control/Personal Freedom balance.

I'll take the other side. People need to remember. Think of all the lost experience as the soldiers of WWI or WWII passed on. It is our history, and right now, it is still living history. I would cherish an experience of being able to hear from someone who had gone through that, especially if you could tie it to unity of the country, lessons of the decades long GWOT, etc. But only if you can do it without too much relived trauma, I guess.

That's a good rule of thumb for any trauma experience.

Does talking about it serve a purpose? Can you get through it without it ruining your present day? If you can't, you either get working on therapy, or leave it, to the extent you can.

Labor Prime Minister Ehud Barak bet it all on giving the Palestinians Gaza, 98% West Bank, and East Jerusalem. They get their country. The Palestinians refused and launched the Second Intifada. That destroyed Labor. Likud's Benjamin Netanyahu became Prime Minister ever since and Labor never ruled Israel again nor come close. They are down to three seats in the Knesset if that. For a brief moment a Centrist Party ruled Israel, but Netanyahu and Likud came back.

Well, you can either go draconian which is what the Chinese did to kill the opium trade and what Singapore does or you can blame root causes. That gets you to where we are now. No go areas, people walking around with rotting flesh, etc.

All while we spend useless billions on fixing the root causes to get at the drug addiction. And you learn, like criminals, you cannot fix someone that does not want to be fixed--but you can remove temptation and incentives to do drugs by interdicting supply.

Your type never fixes any societal problems--it just creates new ones because your world view is cracked and not based on reality of humanity.

And Portland OR is what you create.
