39 Except for the tall trees at the right, and the narrowness of the river, this could be the New Orleans-Algiers ferry crossing point as seen from a little ways upriver. Probably in the late 1800s or early 1900s, though, not today.

There were industrial smokestacks downriver from the French Quarter until fairly late. The Kaiser Aluminum plant was in Chalmette just downriver (a little east) of the famous Battle of New Orleans field, I remember, and so was the Tenneco Oil Refinery.

Oft angry celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey diagnosed with skin cancer. Tells everyone to 'use sunscreen.'

My step-mother had a cancerous growth removed from her nose and cheek not long ago. She said something about the sun causing skin cancer. She hasn't been out in the sun for any length of time for YEARS.

Yet another myth perpetrated by the communist government that's become the norm.

110 I don't know if it has been mentioned but, the biggest part about Trump blowing up the TdA boat yesterday is that it completely destroys the leftie--and clown judge-- argument that TdA is not an enemy force/invasion/incursion.
See also our warships and sub parked off the coast of Venezuela.

But the clown judge's rulings were always stupid:

The President doesn't get to define what an incursion is (when the statue is largely silent)--but a random judge with no Article II foreign policy authority let alone experience or knowledge/intel--somehow IS qualified to determine what constitutes an incursion or invasion.

That's real retarded, sir.

--
Airlines are not airlines any more: They're "banks" that fly passengers in planes on the side.

All of them, their frequent flyer/rewards programs are worth more than the airline.
Which they had to reveal when they put those up as collateral for loans during Covid.

And not just a little bit more, like the programs are sometimes almost double the value of the airline.

They actually now lose money on each seat; it's now a loss leader to capture more program members.

So no, airline travel is never going to get better.

Armand Guillaumin
Painting, 1873, 65×81 cm
Region: Paris, France
Location: Musee d'Orsay, Paris

Warehouse 13 Artifact Database Wiki
"Armand Guillaumin was a French impressionist painter who was a friend of many more well-known artists such as Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Cézanne, and Camille Pissarro. Despite his comparative lack of fame, he was a celebrated artist in his own right for his use of vivid color. He is known as the most colorful impressionist due to the range and depth of colors he used in his works."

Not familiar with this artist but, yes, the sunset is quite lovely and "real," in the moment. However, I'd be ambivalent about hanging the painting.

That's more than 3 years from now when they'll suddenly say, "We've been trying to save Britain from the dirty Conservative Party who brought all these terrible things to our nation."

The Tory's were given nearly 10 years to run the country - they failed miserably in every aspect. No one is going to forget that.

Labor is universally despised now, support about 20% and dropping. They don't dare call an election.

So that's why so many are now talking about open civil unrest. They now have a government that is almost universally despised and disrespected, refusing to hold elections and refusing to give up power, as the economy sinks further and further into oblivion. (not to mention the social pressures.) There doesn't appear to be any possible good ending for this.

Things usually go on until some "trigger" happens, which is usually a black swan event that no one predicts (but which many should have seen coming) And then they're all surprised that this black swan event collapses the government, or the nation.

Impossible to predict - but one possibility is the national power grid shutting down mid winter, with thousands freezing to death while they struggle to bring it back up.

Illegals, Covid response, Coverup of massive rape culture by grooming gangs, Criminalizing dissent, and Budget Crisis. Five torpedoes into the UK Ship of State and its putrid elite class.

Elite classes get displaced for new elites only when the current ruling class become disreputable and dishonored. People generally prefer to avoid losses than possible gains from change and this is also reflected in a sticky retention of even evil and awful regimes because the masses think things could always get worse. But at some point, a switch occurs mentally--when enough people view the ruling class as likely to take what little they have left--then that regime
must go at all costs to prevent that loss.

209 The Taylor Lorenz article in Wired that a whole bunch of the online left were being funded by Chorus has really struck a nerve.

A lot of them are in a full-on panic doing everything to deflect--personal attacks, smears, lies, mischaracterizations, etc.--but none of them deny they were being paid.

A whole lot of whining "but they never told me what to say!"

LOL, because a fat $8k a month totally won't change your commentary? Keep you in a nice, tight lane of Good Little Progressive?

But my favorite part remains that Chorus was paying all this money to all these people who all just share the same 100k-500k followers.

Healthy societies that have faith in themselves can tolerated failures.

Unhealthy societies on the brink have no design margin left at all, and can collapse over the smallest thing. They have become brittle, in that they look solid from the outside, but one sharp blow will shatter them into a thousand fragments. Remember how surprised we all were that the USSR didn't end up reforming, but collapsed completely in just a matter of days? They had become brittle, one crack in the facade and it all shattered.

I'm saying that Britain, France, and Germany are all at that point, right now.

Euro governments like Germany, France, UK, etc. have extended huge loans to Ukraine that will in the end result in default. In normal economic times, those economies might be able to withstand it, but all of them are now entering the fiscal death zone where you choose between inflating the debt away resulting in an economic crash or simply default and start the crash right away.

We are getting close to that zone as well but growth from reshoring the US economy and full employment will go a long way to delay it here.

She's claiming that, since the thing she didn't do, but if she did, it all happened before she took office so it totally doesn't count.
That it has to be crimes committed while in office to count as "for cause."

It's really your fault for not catching her lies sooner because she mentioned them in her confirmation disclosures.

Uh huh. Now do that for every Republican forced to resign due to something said/done decades ago.
Oh, and your fraud is on-going--you've not refinanced a single one.
