43 Son's Golden has accepted the new baby girl into her family. She's like a nurse. Needs to know where the baby is at all times.

If the baby sneezes she sits up and points her nose in the baby's direction to alert humans.

I am relieved as she is very hyper with us when we visit. I figured she launch the bassinet into another room in joy. But she's good, like the Golden before her with the babies.

It's been a long week but, other than MN demon, a good one.

61 Japan is a great place to visit. Just budget enough time to time-adjust, and to do more than the standard stuff (which is good/worth doing).

Fall probably best time, but know that crowding at popular places can be bad due mostly to the masses from Chy-nah who now travel.

Get out of the big city at least once. Take a regular train, not Shinkansen (you see little from those). Stay at an onsen. Get to the mountains (Takayama’s a good choice). Take out dinner from a department store food court back to the hotel, and try a regular ramen joint (kind that sells little tickets outside) in a regular neighborhood.

That's right, I've returned to the world of the Malazan Empire. "Blood and Bone" by Ian C. Esslemont is one part Allan Quatermain, one part Solomon Kane, one part Heart of Darkness, and quite a few more parts of sheer crazy awesomeness.

About a half dozen factions are slowly working their way into the Malazan equivalent of Darkest Africa for an explosive confrontation. Meanwhile, the Jungle of Himatan is so humid and hostile that armor, weapons, and even clothing simply rot off the body. Oh, and there are spiders and centipedes so deadly even Australia would go looking for a stout boot to stomp on them.

175 Piper, CrotchetyJarHead's reco of a guide could be a good idea. All depends on what you end up doing. Remember Japan is a very "advanced" country in the sense of everyday life, technology, transport, infrastructure, etc. More than some of the US. So independent exploration isn't hard at all.

If you can make a direct personal connection with people via the shiba thing, THAT will be your best asset at least for the area where they live. No different than anywhere else - locals can help/guide/reco things much better than anyone.

So older/grown children. If the teens have any particular interests, that's a place to start. But you can figure that out internally between y'all.

Haha-- my older bro found some excellent deal on jerky sticks (25 cents each!) and bought LOADS of it. Told us all about the deal & handed out bundles of it.

192 I bought 8 lbs of peaches today, and picked and canned pears. I got 7 pints of pears canned, and honestly although I love canned pears, they are a pain to peel, core and can.
I am canning peaches tomorrow. I think I will do chunks in pints again. Mom was wonderful at canning whole half-peaches, and mine look like I skinned them with a weed-eater when I try it.

Capital controls are next. next month it will illegal to draw more than 200 pounds from your account in cash, and if you make more than that in a month you wind up on the watch list, and may have your account taken, or prevented from allowing cash withdrawls.

There is also a new tax on all paychecks as well. It is to pay for the deficit.

Bank of England appears broke. The British deficit is too big to ignore. Europe is running out of money.
