Does the Louvre officially ban photography yet? I took a pic of the postage stamp size in real life Mona Lisa and got some really foul looks.
Speaking of which, the crowd around that painting is insane. You're only supposed to take fifteen seconds or something to look at it before you're told to move along. JackStraw mentioned the purported ongoing color ops in Europe as suggested by Mike Benz. I have pondered what they’ve been doing in this country.
Because there are a number of assumptions one has to make when looking at the larger picture. People en masse and individually react very predictably wen provoked, when outrageous things are perpetrated against them. (This is why the left so loved to call righteous indignation “reactionary” btw) What I’m getting at, they planned all this outrageous shit going on decades then of course they necessarily had a plan for a bunch of pissed off people. It’s the “dog that didn’t bark”. That’s where my crystal ball gets cloudy. I suppose broadly it revolves around excluding anyone not of the Uni-party from being admitted to the Club. No Grass roots allowed, anything like that must be co-opted and hijacked “and for other purposes”. See also: hippies, occupy, “black” lives matter, etc. But the end result is clear. A lop-sided total control of everything by leftist wackjobs. Normal folks, millions of them, no representation and don’t get anything. That did not happen by accident, that was engineered for decades. No way around it Posted by: Common Tater at September 02, 2025 09:55 AM (tE2Wy) 141

For some reason the word "camel" makes me think of Kraft caramels. The light-colored ones, not the dark ones.
All seriousness aside, this is a grim painting for sure. I'd guess this is supposed to be just at sunrise; the sunset would be much more blazing and orange (I guess, never having seen a Saharan sunset). We're looking east, then. Just the painter's choice of viewpoint. Nobody would try to drive east to west across the Sahara; I think it's as wide as the whole North American continent. The slave trade routes went from south to north, and even that was one hell of a trek. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at September 02, 2025 09:55 AM (omVj0) 144

Posted by: TheJamesMadison ======== This is a uniquely stupid ruling that even the 9th Circuit will stop. Commander in chief role and protection of federal facilities brook no judicial interference. In essence, the Resistance is trying to use judges to delay until a midterm delivers them from Trump is my guess. And that means all of these Resistance judges are likely communicating among themselves either directly or via activists in ex parte communications. MEDIAite: Trump Considers Reopening 'Insane Asylums' in Crusade Against Crime. Trump made the suggestion in a Daily Caller interview with reporter Reagan Reese that dropped Monday.
Does anyone seriously use the term insane asylums? The reporter used it and of course if she's with the daily caller then that figures. With the advent of psych meds there is no longer a need for long term hospitalizations. Of course RFK jr wants to change all that. Reagan closed a lot of these facilities which did lead to highly mentally unstable people living in homelessness. Something like this probably is not all terrible, but I sure as fuck don’t trust this regime with it. No doubt, they will start with the chronic homeless, followed by trans, then liberal activists, etc. I've noticed Trump following up on a lot of his delusions. He just wants things back the way they used to be and doesn't ever consider new information or why things have changed Trump is like Reagan, constantly revisiting a halycon past that doesn't exist anymore. Le Sahara, Gustave Guillaumet
www musee-orsay fr/ Gustave Guillaumet (1840 - 1887) In part, "An eye-catcher at the Salon of 1868, this work by Guillaumet makes a break with Orientalist paintings of the time. Whereas many of his contemporaries gave a deliberately idealised or anecdotal picture of North Africa, here we have a poignant vision, which focuses on the essential. "Never has the infinite nature of the desert been painted in a simpler, more grandiose and more moving way," was Théophile Gautier's comment. The harshness of the landscape, the feeling of solitude and desolation are heightened by the division of the painting into wide horizontal bands, the implacable monotony broken only by the presence of men and animals in the distance. From the skeleton in the foreground, frozen in cool tones, we slide imperceptibly towards the glow surrounding the improbable caravan looming on the horizon. With a remarkable economy of means, a subtle graduation of planes which mingles the dusty stretch of the vast plain with the hazy sky, Guillaumet manages to capture the quintessence of the desert." -- Where Hillary would like to house our butts. 😉 -- Wouldn't hang but it's fascinating. Come to think of it: There was an early Have Gun episode written by Gene Roddenberry. To win a desert race contest, and make sure the town which has hired him gets its water rights back, Paladin enters and uses . . . a camel. He wins. I don't think leftists love crime. They just hate when you notice their idiotic policies increase crime.
Defund the police. Cashless bail. DAs who won't prosecute crime. These are actual Democrat policies and anyone with an IQ above room temperature knew they would increase crime. But we are bad people for noticing. Posted by: JackStraw at September 02, 2025 11:01 AM (viF8m) 374

For a few years I lived in the middle of nowhere on acreage. It was about as safe an area from crime as you could have.
But I still locked the door as well as car doors. The whole leaving doors unlocked thing is weird to me as a born and raised city slicker. Posted by: Its Go Time Donald at September 02, 2025 11:02 AM (ItzsN) 376
