Not Exactly Tech News

My new GP wants to know how I'm not dead and made me swear to go to the ER if the numbers got worse. Seems like just ignoring health issues can only get you so far.

(Checking in though with my home BP machine that sparked the crisis, the numbers got better. Which doesn't mean I am better, just that things are trending in the right direction. Everything fell apart about six weeks ago when I contracted RSV.)

Bad enough for a reading from a $20 toy from Amazon to get me in to see a clinic that wasn't accepting new patients and walk out with a new GP, prescriptions for two new meds, and a detailed treatment plan.

But almost no symptoms and no obvious cause.

More tests tomorrow and a second visit next week.

125 Da Vinci, Vitruvian Man:

Vitruvius, the architect, says in his architectural work that the measurements of man are in nature distributed in this manner, that is 4 fingers make a palm, 4 palms make a foot, 6 palms make a cubit, 4 cubits make a man, 4 cubits make a footstep, 24 palms make a man and these measures are in his buildings. If you open your legs enough that your head is lowered by 1/14 of your height and raise your arms enough that your extended fingers touch the line of the top of your head, let you know that the center of the ends of the open limbs will be the navel, and the space between the legs will be an equilateral triangle

Steed was a minor character in the early show snippets extant with Honor Blackman.
Posted by: OrangeEnt at August 26, 2025

***
I never heard of the radio series. Yes, when the show originally started -- before the first Bond film, even -- Steed was a minor character with a male co-star, a character who was a doctor. Then we got Honor Blackman, and Steed became much more important and much more the vivid character we got to know. In the HB eps I've seen, I'm never sure whether Blackman's Cathy Gale even *liked* Steed. We were never in doubt about Emma's affection for Steed, though. And the scripts became much more sparkly in dialog, and even more far-fetched in plots, though that was the fun of it all. The first B & W season is good stuff.

Steed (in an adventure where Emma goes undercover to work in a department store): "They told me Mrs. Peel was in Ladies' Underwear. I took the stairs two at a time."
