63 Art related !

"A painting that was once stolen from a Jewish arts dealer by the Nazis during World War II has been discovered in a real estate ad for a home in Argentina. (Argentinian nazis!)..Portrait of a Lady,' a portrait of Contessa Colleoni created by Vittore Ghislandi in 1743, was pictured hanging over a sofa in the real estate listing posted by Robles Casas & Campos...Portrait of a Lady' had once belonged to Dutch-Jewish collector Jacques Goudstikker, a successful art dealer in Amsterdam ....An ensuing investigation into how the portrait may have wound up at the Argentinian house ultimately led AD reporters to Friedrich Kadgien - who once served as top Nazi official Herman Goering's financial adviser. He was tasked with funding the Nazi war efforts, often through the theft of art and diamonds from Jewish dealers in the Netherlands...It turned out that the house advertised in the listing was owned by one of Kadgien's daughters."

Posted by: Sponge - F*ck Cancer at August 26, 2025 09:40 AM (Zz0t1)

67 Could be wrong here, but I've heard that making a real old-fashioned haystack was practically an art.

The outer layer would be arranged like a thatched roof, so that it shed rain water to the outside.

That kept the hay inside the stack from going moldy.

You'd put the hay in a bunch of stacks, and over the course of the winter you'd remove the outer layers so the cattle could eat the good hay inside.

122 107 One little thing I like about this painting is the figure of the woman behind the haystack. I don't know if this is a milkmaid or not, but the figure just reminds of how much backbreaking labor is involved in farming, even more so when there were no big machines to help out with haymaking.

136 I'm never sure what to call Van Gogh's art. Impressionistic to some degree? Primitive as in not too realistic? I think of it as suggestive. The structures are detailed enough to provide a style and place. The figure is just brush strokes, enough to be recognizable but no more. But the colors make this painting for me. The yellows and golds of the haystacks and field, the blue shades of the sky all point to the time of year and conditions: warm and dry. (Make hay while the sun shines.) Another aspect I like is the way the horizon is shone and the areas of green growth. That green is also used in the window of the houses. A nice bit of continuity.

I would hang this. It's a pleasant scene.

Great speech by Gov. Pritzker. I have been very impressed with his leadership in resistance to Krasnov. No more than today. He didn’t miss a single point and he tore Krasnov a new asshole in doing it.

Love this speech, especially, the challenge to the media to stop the both sides! Pritzker is presidential. He is exactly who we need to take the orange felon down.

Pritzker and Newsom are providing great examples of leadership for their fellow Democratic representatives. I hope that they’re listening. We need to directly and forcefully call out these fascists for who they are - kidnappers, murderers, sexual abusers, thugs, wannabe dictators.

267 Yeah Seattle doesn’t get that much rain relative to other cities. The issue is it rains a bit a lot of days. Whereas Boston gets a lot of rain in a few days. It’ll pour in. Paying for a day or two then you get 4 or 5 days of sun. In Seattle it’s cloudy with a bit of rain 7 days in a row. That’s what makes it annoying, the constant nature of the rain.

A/c doesn’t kick in until around 3 or 4 pm when the house temp gets to 75.

325 Security researchers from Palo Alto Networks' Unit 42 have discovered the key to getting large language model (LLM) chatbots to ignore their guardrails, and it's quite simple. You just have to ensure that your prompt uses terrible grammar and is one massive run-on sentence like this one which includes all the information before any full stop which would give the guardrails a chance to kick in before the jailbreak can take effect and guide the model into providing a "toxic" or otherwise verboten response the developers had hoped would be filtered out.

It's a great leverage play, i think. Sure, you're solving a problem that needs solving. But you're doing it in the most visible way possible, in a place that "belongs" to every American.

And the majority of the people you are tangibly helping belong to the enemy's owned and paid for voting bloc. Get word out through the streets that Donald Trump Cares About Black People, and suddenly it's gonna get a lot harder and a lot more expensive to maintain a lock on big city electorates.

Yup. Trump has already blown historic holes in the Dems' control of blacks (with some assistance from the rapidly increasing number of black men who've had bad experiences with woke feminism). Why would he not try to expand on that?
