What Made the Democrat Party Go Crazy?"

They didn't abandon them as a concern, because they were never concerned with them. They just abandoned them as a vehicle for votes. This is what VDH still doesn't get; these people didn't change. This is who they always were. They simply moved on to a new phase of the revolution.

If FDR could have outright pulled a Stalin, he would have. If HRC could have gone Pol Pot in the 90's, she would have. Your fat uncle Bob in Michigan who used to wear camo with all his buddies and pretend to be a major and handed out conspiracy fliers at gun shows was basically right.

When they say Socialism hasn't been done correctly before, what they really mean is they're applying lessons from the last 100 years or so. Purge the colonels. Disarm the peasants. They know the drill by now.

He made it to 100, and died a few months later. It was like his only goal was to reach that milestone, despite his advice to me not to live so long.

Underlying this is the assumption that Democrats get free reign to break laws whenever they want because Republicans hitting back is trying to make a right with two wrongs.

Also, the government shouldn't punish any criminals because punishing criminals is a wrong, and two wrongs don't make a right.

It all stems from Alinsky Rule #4 : "Make the Right live up to their own book of rules. You can kill them with this."

Only people on the Right have to have principles and standards.

The Left can do whatever it wants, whenever it wants, no matter how much it contradicts what they just said or did 5 minutes ago, because they don't have to have principles. Only the Right does.

Who's winning right now? I think it's more of a strong horse question. More and more people will start following the strong horse.

The side that has solid values, some moral beliefs, patriotism, and a sound sense of freedom is the strong horse now. We just need to keep feeding it.

278 If you care to do some research, you'll find that Kobe, Wagyu, and the rest are 99% marketing bullshit. "Kobe" means almost nothing; it could be any kind of cow. It's like using "Detroit" as shorthand for cars.

What matters is the quality of the cow that produced the steaks. For high-quality cuts (strip, ribeye, etc) destined for high-end certifications (Prime, etc) the producers select the highest quality cows. For the lower-end stuff (ground meat), the producers select any old crap cow stumbling around on the farm.

291 The first big crack in the left's decent in to insanity was the Gingrich Revolution.
100+ years of holding the House. R presidents come and go, the Senate may flip, but the House was always theirs.
And nobody could do anything without the Democrats agreeing.
Whole generations lived entire lives under the "Democrats are always in charge."
And they responded by telling the voters they were wrong.
Then another crack comes w/ the Clinton impeachment. Where decades of pretending to care about sex scandals--which they always used so effectively against Rs--was cast aside. "It's just sex, everybody lies about sex."
2000 was a huge blow: Gore was going to right the wrongs, prove Bill wasn't a fluke who skated in on split votes.
That loss was the point-of-no return; signaled by when they made the red-blue permanent.
We forget how they hated W.
Then Obama--finally after 14 years! They thought it permanent.
Then comes 2010. The fear. Response was fraud and .gov funding.
Each step? Farther and farther away from the will of the voters; the voters were the ones wrong.

298 When One Lives on Memories, 1904
József Rippl-Rónai

I like it because I think it's touching, personal.

As I'm blessed to age, I find myself remembering the past more than I've ever done before. (Certainly, there's more of it than future.) It's not always alone. Sometimes, it's a leisurely, mostly enjoyable pursuit with friends or family.

But, yes, with age and even gradual changes in mobility, finances, family, etc. memories become a larger part of living than the more frequent 'big' experiences of earlier life. (And for some elders, memories may be more pleasant than "living in the present," a lovely concept if one doesn't lack.)

Nice opening to the week. Thanks, CBD.

Fuck that. My cousin raises Angus beef cattle. I got a quarter of a cow, different cuts of all kinds, for a total price of $1400. That was for the beef, the processing, and wrapping. I carried ten reusable shopping totes full of beef and filled my freezer with it. I barely had room in there for a couple of packages of chicken and pork. I still have more ground beef than I need.

I think you can still have a cheap(ish) vacation in LV. It's just not on the strip. That's all very upscale and high-priced now. Like oceanside in SoBe.

But if you look at the smaller casinos downtown, or off-strip, or off-downtown, there are still bargains to be found.

And even the Vegas strip is probably better bargain than the high-end Atlantic City casino hotels. They charge Vegas prices for a decidedly less-Vegas experience.

315 For all of US history, the party that moved to the center, to co-opt the popular will, was the party that survived.
After 1994, the Dems tried that.
Recall, Clintons' "triangulation?"
Oh, they pretend to love Bill now. But they hate, hate, hated that then.
Obama was their response: Move to the left, deliver for the base; ignore the center.
But McCain deliberately tanked his campaign. So did Romney. That hid the truth: Obama wasn't popular with the center.
That and the massive vote fraud and unlimited laundered government funds papered over just how weak the Dem Party really was. How they've been bleeding their base of power, the one that kept them in power for 150+ years.
They will never get that back.
