Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | The Morning Report — 8/20/25![]() American support would particularly take the form of air support. Whether that means combat air patrols and air policing or the deployment of intelligence assets to feed information to European forces on the ground is presently unclear. Nevertheless, President Trump said: “When it comes to security [the Europeans are] willing to put people on the ground, we’re willing to help them with things, especially… by air because nobody has the kind of stuff we have.”No war, however it ended, either by a clear military defeat and official surrender of one side or by an armistice or some other political accord ever stopped the mutual animosity and distrust of the victor and the vanquished for each other. I can't imagine Zelensky provoking Putin but I do think Putin will likely probe the resolve of the EU and President Trump, and that means air to air combat and at that point things can and likely could get out of hand. Aside from facilitating an end to the bloodshed, it is up to each side to behave in a civilized manner once the ink dries on the Neville Chamberlain stationery and it's up to the EU to secure their own damned borders and security if they really think Vladimir Putin has the manpower and ability to roll all the way to and even cross the English Channel. From my perspective, and I could be dead wrong, it seems to be in in Russia's best interest, geopolitically, domestically and economically to end the fighting. The greatest threats to global security come from Communist China and the global Islamic cause. Regardless of Putin's behavior vis a vis invading Ukraine, down the road it would be in our interest to have him in our corner as an ally with a common cause against bth of the aforementioned threats. But the Chi-Coms are now linked closely with Putin and putting a wedge between those two would be a challenge for sure. That's another reason why getting America involved in keeping the peace is not in our best interest. Speaking of the Communist threat, over here in the US of A, whether or not he can actually do it, the President got a giant cheer from me and every sane American for announcing his intention to do away with mail-in balloting for future elections. Of course there was an equal and opposite reaction from the clinically insane crowd: Democrat Rep. Sarah McBride (D-DE), a man who identifies as a woman, claimed President Trump is waging an “all-out assault” against “American democracy” because he wants to get rid of mail-in ballots and voting machines. “This president is taking notes from his favorite dictator. Let’s be clear: a president with popular policies wouldn’t need to illegally gerrymander districts, ban voting machines, or abolish vote-by-mail,” the transgender-identifying lawmaker said in a post to X on Monday evening.American democracy is a myth, up there with Palestine and the Loch Ness Monster. Or at best a euphemism for Democrat-Party Dictatorship. At the very least kudos to the President for at the very least bringing this issue to the forefront of public discourse where the longer it remains in the spotlight, the more the Prsident's point of the threat to voting an election security is made. Look at the reaction to calling out the National Guard in DC to combatting crime. And now look at the figures, that is the ones that the DC PD did not fake (see below) since he called out the Guard show how doing so has immediately made a difference. The investigation raises broader questions about the reliability of crime statistics in Democrat-run jurisdictions. And lastly, a quick shout-out and thank you for your continued support in hitting our tip jar. It truly is appreciated more than you can know. Have a great day!

The NFL has officially ended its contract with LGBTQ+ advocacy group Stonewall and announced that team captains will no longer be allowed to wear rainbow armbands in support of LGBTQ+ inclusion. Additionally, other rainbow-themed items such as shoelaces and wristbands will be banned on the field. This watershed announcement follows a meeting held this Tuesday with captains from all 32 NFL teams, marking a surprising shift away from visible LGBTQ+ support during games.

There's something reductive about Trump 2.0 that I am really liking. There's a pronounced "nice Gordian knot you got there" theme to a lot of the stuff he does. So many things that are obvious were never done because That's Not Who We Are, when it turns out that's exactly who we are, and we've just been gaslit into believing that everything has this impenetrable bubble of complexity and futility around it preventing anyone from doing anything.
Peace? There's no way to have peace. These are hatreds going back thousands of years, blah de blah de blah.... when it turns out that a great big superpower saying "I don't care who started it, I'll finish it for you if you don't knock it off" is enough to get people to simmer down. Trade? Trade is so complex that not even the biggest brains in town can fully understand it... when it turns out all you had to say was "You need us more than we need you" and tax the bejeebers out of anything they try to sell us. Stuff is simple. Anything that sounds too complex to ever be solved is usually that way because people you've never heard of have a vested interest in everyone else being afraid to do the obvious thing that would stop them. Interstellar object 3I/ATLAS — which is zooming through our inner solar system — appears to be emitting its own light, according to Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb. The observation by Loeb, if verified, would contradict NASA’s classification of the Manhattan-sized object as a comet, the scientist argues in a new blog post. Loeb and a colleague analyzed photos released by NASA of the object in determining that the source of its glow is likely not from the sun. The astrophysicist wrote the “brightness profile around 3I/ATLAS implies that the nucleus dominates the observed light.”

I've been noticing more and more that, even in general day to day life, nobody is ever really "crazy" or "stupid". When you see someone doing something that would clearly indicate that they are one or the other, it's usually because they're lying about something or hiding something or trying to screw over somebody who may or may not be you.

I'm partially of the mindset that there's no point in even having "boots" if we're going to be making promises we'll never put them on anyone else's ground. And it's unbecoming in a commander in chief to ever promise never to unleash the military anywhere, anytime he choses to (suck on that AUMF, Congress). How does anyone know what may or may not need to be done tomorrow? Even Canada and Mexico ought to live under the constant low-level hum of the infinitesimally small but non-zero chance that American boots might be on their soil one day.
I'm fine with a firm statement that there are no intentions to deploy significant military assets anywhere at this time, but "promises" are for horny teenagers trying to get laid, not heads of state. But the only thing that makes me feel vindicated in taking that position is the corollary position that if you're going to be taking a swing at anyone, it had better be for a very, very damn good reason, and you had better connect. It's pretty funny how people are pretending the United States is "brokering peace" in Ukraine.
Let's be clear, the number of days Ukraine would have survived against Russia without the United States supplying munitions, intelligence, and equipment is closer to zero than it is to the present length of the conflict. Even with the assistance of all of Europe, who have largely become toothless octogenarian gumming their oatmeal. With this reality in mind, what Trump is effectively doing is negotiating a surrender for American neocons to Russia, and artfully painting an illusion that he is the ring referee between the hapless featherweight Zelenskyy and the light-heavyweight Russia. But the truth is you can't be a mediator when you are one of the belligerents. Kudos to Trump, nonetheless, as he is extricating the United States from yet another boneheaded, profit-driven war. He deserves a Nobel Peace prize for taking on the biggest enemy to world peace, his own Deep State. Posted by: Are We Not Men at August 20, 2025 08:08 AM (cEs+D) 72

Posted by: Martini Farmer at August 20, 2025 07:57 AM (Q4IgG) I agree. Air support could also include AWACS, airborne jammers, and tankers. Tankers because the Euroweenies would want to base their combat aircraft as far from the battle zone as possible. Posted by: Gref at August 20, 2025 08:08 AM (aBgBM) 73

The Epstein stuff and various other things like the BBB that have irritated other people haven't bothered me, because I never expected Trump to do different, and he's done a ton of other positive things concurrently that exceeded expectations. But I *did* expect better than a security guarantee for Ukraine, and I'm disappointed in something he's doing for the first time since he took office this time. The reason I didn't give a crap about the Epstein mess was that I understand there's a ceiling to Trump's power, and while he's proven it higher than I imagined, *that* is high above it. And so is the forever war faction of the deep state. Those people are entrenched so deep they can never be removed, and nothing short of a force of nature like Trump can keep them in check for very long. He ain't gonna live forever, or serve a third term, and might lose control of them in this one, for that matter. The only thing this will guarantee is a big war in Eastern Europe sometime in the near future. He's giving away the store for a Nobel Prize he'll never get. It's a language immersion camp, in the DC area, with a 4 year old little girl going....so I'm guessing rich white liberal parents send their kids, and a bunch of the staff are illegals. Old Democrat plantation owners raised their kids to manage slaves, and this is just the new version of developing kids to communicate and run the ethnic underclass.
Its accepting the reality that the trajectory of their four year old daughter's career will likely have her taking a job at a drive--through window after graduating with her poison-ivy league degree in Woke Worthlessness. The woke brigade will not stop agitating because you gave them stenciled end zones and penile cheerleaders. They'll see it, rightly, as a retreat on the NFL's part and push for more. The NFL will, in turn, give them more because that's who the current leadership of the NFL is. Those retreats will irritate a growing percentage of the fanbase - yes, some people will never leave but their kids might not ever care. This will, in turn, collapse the system. Not overnight, but it'll happen. Same holds true for paying college players. Good for the guys today, fatal in the long run. Latest outrage on the Left?
DHS Secretary says entire southern border wall to be painted black to stop people from climbing it. "...specifically at the request of the president, who understands that in the hot temperatures down here when something is painted black it gets even warmer and it will make it even harder for people to climb. So we are going to be painting the entire southern border wall black to make sure that we encourage individuals to not come into our country illegally..." So Christian Also: "Homeland Security will be getting about $46 billion to complete the wall ". I can think of LOTS of things--like food, shelter, schools, bridges, roads --for the needy of this country, that this money could be better used for!! This is surreal. I think Trump's interest in putting and end to the Ukraine - Russian conflict is this: Ukraine is still a huge source of graft for the people in office that oppose him.
Like most of Congress. Turning off the various revenue streams those people have makes them more agreeable to certain things. Like doing their fucking job instead of grifting off the public tit forever. Not that they'll suddenly have some sort of epiphany about all that, but it puts Trump in a much stronger place moving forward if those asshats don't have all that money rolling in.
