38 Evening and morning, ever'body,

'Tis Woden's Day again, ja? Am I awake? Yes, for certain values of "awake."

Dreamed last night that I was applying for a job at a giant chemical plant, apparently as part of a plan to rob the payroll or something. My girlfriend, who was part of the gang, and who looked something like Miss Linda (think the young Madonna with dark hair) and something like the ex-Mrs. Wolfus No. 2 (think Jan Smithers with short hair), was already working there. I had to go to an office where an HR drone was petting a longhaired kitten. "I want to apply for a job," I said. "What can you do?" "Airport or limo driver; cleaning crew." "Fill this out."

I've worked in the blue-collar world. Having to apply for such a low-level job as "cleaning crew": Nightmare fuel.

Disclaimer: Not an expert.

If you have a recording of their voice, you can easily add it to the AI.

76 Shortly after the "Grok Imagine" was released Tuesday, The Verge's Jess Weatherbed was shocked to discover the video generator spat out topless images of Swift "the very first time" she used it.

According to Weatherbed, Grok produced more than 30 images of Swift in revealing clothing when asked to depict "Taylor Swift celebrating Coachella with the boys." Using the Grok Imagine feature, users can choose from four presets—"custom," "normal," "fun," and "spicy"—to convert such images into video clips in 15 seconds.

At that point, all Weatherbed did was select "spicy" and confirm her birth date for Grok to generate a clip of Swift tearing "off her clothes" and "dancing in a thong" in front of "a largely indifferent AI-generated crowd.

Maybe later I will cruise out to Home Goods and see if they have a wall clock I like. The quartz Restoration Hardware clock I've had for many years is now running a minute slow or more every day despite a fresh battery, and I don't suppose it's worth trying to get it fixed. Remember when RH used to have inexpensive gadgets as well as their overpriced furniture?

The RH wall clock looks like the kind you'd see in a European train station once upon a time. The only "train station" clocks I see online are the double-faced ones that have to hang on a bracket projecting from a wall. Fine for an outdoor setting, say on a porch, but not in a kitchen.

89 Stern has lost all the cultural influence he ever had over the course of his career, especially after he went to Sirius.

I remember a time where you’d see his name all the time and his interviews went viral before viral was a thing, especially when he had the tv show on E! (or whatever channel it was on).

Those were the days when his rabid fan base would call in to random call-in shows just to say his name and embarrass the host.

He hasn’t been that relative since about 2010.

Since he’s turned into a full on woke numbskull it’s well deserved.

But they all just wait around hoping Trump will go away, like the Dems and Canadians.

Gave away some 400 classical music CDs to the homeschooling group at church yesterday. I don't know if they'll be a boon or an embarrassment to them. But they now have, among other things, the complete symphonies of Beethoven, Brahms, Bruckner, Elgar, and Vaughan Williams, none of which ever hurt anyone.

Heck, $62 million is cheap for a stadium.

$10 million for the property. $10 million for the building structure. $5 million for fitout and lights and speakers and whatnot. That leaves a paltry $37 million to grease all the palms along the way (school board, local gov't, contractors, inspectors, lawyers, etc etc etc) so that anything can actually be allowed to happen.

I'd say it's a bargain. A miracle of bureaucratic efficiency.

Like I said priorities.

It’s all well and good they can take a few dozen boys and make a great team out of them but I’m more worried about the thousands of other students who come out dumber and dumber every year.

Take away some of that easy money flowing around to an extent they can pay the head coach $1 million a year and that might focus their minds on that “Mission Statement” they love so much but can never seem to live up to.

131 @85/Wolfus: If you don't mind a digital clock, and you don't ever want to have to set your time again, the Marathon Watch Company has atomic clock driven wall clocks that pick up their time from NIST via the WWVB radio station in Colorado. They auto-sync nightly, automatically adjust for DST, and run on alkaline AA batteries for well over a year.

I've had these things for years, and I'm really pleased with them. The only annoyance is when you change the batteries, you lose the settings and have to make sure to set your time zone, and then wait for it to grab the date and time from the WWVB radio signal. This is best done just before you go to bed.

Here's their atomic clock web page:
