We would get ginger ale when we were really, really sick. When we couldn't eat for throwing up it was nothing, then ice to suck on in a cloth for some moisture, then crackers, then ginger ale for your tummy and something really simple. Mom was a genius at this stuff, I don't know where she came up with it all.

121 Well, the news is EXCELLENT!!!!!

Saw the Oncological Surgeon today, and he said everything looks great. So much so, that he thinks after I get my next CT scan (late October - early November) that we will be talking about surgery to remove my tumors!

One of the satellite tumors is no longer there, and all of the rest of the tumors continue to shrink. The largest tumor is showing signs of calcification, which means that it is dying.

He said if it wasn't for the fact that my most recent CT Scan showed a couple of blood clots in my lungs - which apparently is quite common in cancer patients - that he would have been inclined to do surgery now. I am on a blood thinner to dissolve the clots; by the time of my next CT Scan, they should be gone.

So, as I said to Paul as we were getting on the elevator, "It's a good day, Tater!"

Thank you all for continuing to pray for me - they are definitely working! 😊❤️

What is interesting is JJ Abrams Drek killed off the Reeves writing about Star Fleet Academy. Starting with Jim Kirk, age 12, surviving Kodos and having his dreams crushed. Only later does he see the worth of Star Fleet and decides on a career. The first book was published, second book was written with the last line mentioning Axanar when Abrams Trek killed the series.

336 Cool! According to Cal Fire the criminal homeless are now "illegal campers". Next month I am sure they will be called "undocumented campers".

Trespassing arrest made after illegal campers linked to Red Fire in Redway area
An arrest was made over the weekend for trespassing after illegal campers were found on a private property in a wooded area northeast of Redway, near where the human-caused Red Fire ignited in late July.
The Red Fire, reported on July 26, was determined to have been linked to the illegal campers on the property, according to Cal Fire investigators. Cal Fire law enforcement officers, alongside the property owner and the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office, informed multiple people illegally on the land that they were trespassing and needed to leave. On Aug. 3, a follow-up inspection by deputies and Cal Fire law enforcement found all encampments vacated except for one...

Peon's hand cleaner hack: buy the white gel hand cleaner like DL or GoJo from your auto supply dealer. It's made mostly of lanolin. Dip your fingers in the can and get a daub on them. Now dip that daub into a coffee can filled with powdered washing soda (NOT baking soda). Scrub your hands with that mix. The washing soda acts as grit, and helps scrub the grease from your skin. Now dip hands in water, and scrub some more. Water helps the washing soda break down the lanolin (saponifies it, for the chemists here), and the goop rinses right off, leaving your hands completely non-greasy. It is a mild base and does not sting, even on cuts and scrapes.

367 Many inscrutable Oriental wrestlers performed a salt ritual, tossing salt to the four sides of the ring/arena. Then, you throw the whole bag in the eyes of the opponent as the bell rings to start the match.

370 Water helps the washing soda break down the lanolin (saponifies it, for the chemists here), and the goop rinses right off, leaving your hands completely non-greasy. It is a mild base and does not sting, even on cuts and scrapes.

393 Vegetable oils and animal fats are the traditional materials that are saponified. These greasy materials, triesters called triglycerides, are usually mixtures derived from diverse fatty acids. In the traditional saponification, the triglyceride is treated with lye, which cleaves the ester bonds, releasing fatty acid salts (soaps) and glycerol. In one simplified version, the saponification of stearin gives sodium stearate.
