A Day of Shocks: Young Men Cannot Name a Single "Masculine" Democrat Except for Obama
"Which Obama?" Greg Gutfeld asked.

Young American men do not have a long list of Democratic leaders they view as masculine, in fact, there really seems to be only one name on it. A recent analysis of young men aged 18 to 29 by the think tank Third Way stated that most of the participants "struggle to name masculine leaders within the Democratic Party, outside of [former President] Barack Obama." Respondents recognized the Republican Party as the most masculine, and the party that best represented the interests of men.
"The [Republican] party generally tends to put itself towards supporting the nuclear family," one respondent, identified as a young black man, said in the study. "One I mean, like I said, I'm a father. I'm a husband... you really can't get better at leadership and integrity than having to raise a family. And the Republican Party does do that very well." ... "[Harris] talked a lot about the whole cultural thing," one respondent, also identified as a young black man, said. "But she didn't really address... the prices of everything going up that was actually going to change my day-to-day life... too much focus on cultural inclusivity and not [making] our lives as civilians a bit more tolerable." The study used three focus groups of "soft Trump supporting young black, Latino, and non-college white men" from the seven battleground states between the ages of 18 and 29. Third Way said the men in their study tended to be less focused on ideology, low-propensity voters and less likely to consume political news. Third Way is a self-described center-left think tank widely associated with the Democratic Party's moderate wing. Lucas Holtz, a political analyst at the think tank, wrote that the findings of its focus groups "should give pause to anyone who wants to beat back the MAGA forces."

Especially when compared to 30-49 women, who swing +3 blue. So 17 points difference between women in consecutive demos? Seems unlikely.
I understand (I think) that these are movements from 2023 to 2025 and not the current actual +/- for the parties. But still.

The problems are multifold. ( I don't disagree and I'm 65.)
1. It is impossible to "opt out."
2. With Medicare, one is actively, financially punished for being self-insured after age 65. That is, one is forced into the system, like it or not.
3. Ditto SS retirement benefits taxation on earned income.
The only real solution would be an alternate universe where SS and Medicare never existed.

Reduce Social Security payouts by 5% while simultaneously putting 5% of the current Social Security receipts in a taxpayer-chosen investment account. Repeat every year, correcting for things like inflation, the time value of money, etc.
In 20 years...voila. No more Social Security.
If that's too quick, you could even make it 40 years at 2.5% a year..
Young people entering the job market today would know for a fact there would be no SS when they retire, BUT they'd also know that their money had been put into a real investment account to compensate.

Hard to say. I never got shot at either but still think that serious soldiers don't court war although they prepare for it nonetheless. As an aside, at the risk of sounding silly or fake macho, I regretted, in a way, not being in a fight. Not because of fake bravado, but more in the sense of being on the football team, but sitting on the bench while the team's on the field.

This is a big deal. Many here on the HQ have this attitude and it comes from years of politicians saying it was so (starting with the SOB FDR).
The money paid in was taxes. It was spent and then some. There is no "my money" in the system, only debt and some lying ass pol. who told oldsters that they had a "lockbox" filled with twentys "owed" to them.

I got a different view - Michelle was always about The Party, and could see how it ran things. Let's assume that 5% of babies is fathered by someone other than the putative father (data indicates that is a conservative estimate, with the range being 3-10%). Going back only five generations means there's only a 77% chance that the pedigree is accurate. It's hard to say for sure, but I suspect this was MUCH higher in the days before DNA tests.
If it's at the high end of the range, 10%, 5 generations means less than a 60% probability that the pedigree is accurate.

The guy who originated the term defined it as 45-59 (I think). Today it is mostly 45-64 but it still varies.
The boom was well and truely over by 60 and that was a bust period of declining births so there is no real logic hear, just opinions.
My opinion is that the birth year is meaningless and what defines the social views of different cohorts is what they experienced in their formative years - the economy, the wars, the draft, the technology, etc.
