Vtuber Newsy News

Vshojo is no more.

As far as I can tell, all the talents have left, including the brand new ones who were presumably still under contract.

News coming out now is more about indie talents like Mint Fantome and Phoebe Chan (her actual name) who were working to create a new unit within VShojo and have been left high and dry.

Also gone is merchandise that has been paid for but will likely never ship.

Also also gone are payments to artists, video editors, and music producers who worked with the talents, even though VShojo would presumably have taken the money out of the talents' accounts, which seem to be also gone.

Slightly less gone is the half a million dollars raised for charity by vtuber Ironmouse that VShojo allegedly lost.

And the only reason that isn't gone is that the fans rallied and have raised another $800k since yesterday.

18 Thought experiment. Imagine Beethoven with the orchestra of his choosing and Black Sabbath performing at the same show.

With this in mind we begin to understand why Rock and Roll took over the music world and annihilated the previous thousand year history of western music. The soundtrack to our collective lives is nothing less than modern classical music.

19 Recall by design remembers everything you have ever looked at, including all the private data you have ever had visible in your web browser.

This is obviously insane, but in the initial version Microsoft went one step further and put all the collected data in a single, completely unprotected database on your disk drive.

I assume that they then went ahead and shared that database globally, opening ports and bypassing network security as needed to make the feature as asinine as possible.

I went to a local comedy show a few weeks ago where some nitwit in the audience decided he was going to be the show. The initial sparring match was brutal and then the real slugfest took off for the rest of the show when this nitwit became the punchline of every joke. After about 30 minutes of this endless abuse the guy's wife wife hauled him of the place to a barrage of insults and a standing ovation from the audience. Double plus good show.

2017 The End Tour
https://youtu.be/zY5nYmTUfnQ

I saw the band on this tour. The audience on the floor was exactly like this video, a seething mass that knew every song and lyric. The show was more like Black Sabbath and the Multitudes Choir. The Mormon Tabernacle choir they weren't. It was pandemonium at its finest.

And in case you are thinking that was the show, you would be wrong. That band on that tour was some of the finest playing I have ever heard in my life in any genre. The synchronicity between the band was sublime and the fact that it was at a thundering 100 decibels was a blanket of indescribable mayhem.

Using the phrase "fine art" and Black Sabbath in the same phrase is counterintuitive, but that is absolutely what happened.

Pop music is pop music, Some of it's great. Most of it's dreck. Rock and Roll is a whole different thing. I don't disregard classical music at all as I absolutely love it and listen to it all the time. I only mentioned this perspective to point out that the music we lived through is as great as anything that's ever been done. It's just a wee bit different in its ethos and compositional approach.

An example.

Comfortably Numb

Good point and well stated. My view of popular music is anyone looking to get a hit record played on the radio. This includes the likes of The Gratefully Dead, Sabbath or Pink Floyd (name that song!).

I'm going to have a difficult time lbringing myself to listen to that version of Comfortably Numb. I loathe that album. Pink Floyd's White Album.

35 A good Weoden's Day evening to the late toilers, and morning to the early risers/insomaniacals! I had no idea of the name of the "Wild, Wild West" group. I recall hearing the single when it was new, along with The Pet Shop Boys' "East End Boys, West End Girls," and hear them now on the '80s oldies station here. But I did not know who the artists were.

Like everybody else, I thought the PSB song was "Eastern Boys, Western Girls," since I couldn't make out any of the other lyrics. That title suggests something very different from the London of the '80s.

38 Yesterday was a lovely day for which I thank God. Some of the things which I appreciate were going to RC Mass with spouse at a lovely tiny chapel ( No; I did not take the Eucharist ) and I enjoyed the priests homily. It's nice to see people of a variety of ethnic groups worshipping ,and I had a strong feeling that a young guy kneeling on the carpet up front because there was no kneeler there may be considering entering the priesthood . Also, saw some lovely flowers at a local garden including Roses, some spotted lillies and hydrangea. and snowball bushes. I saw a black butterfly with blue on the bottom of its wings and a spotted fawn crossing the road Finally, I had a lovely visit and communion with our 98 year old retired organist. She is a sweetie I am thankful that I can find things to thank God for everyday!

You still have to login through the developer’s app on some of them, though.

Rockstar is notorious for the amount of hoops you have to jump through just to get to the game’s menu.

Ubisoft doesn’t make it easy either.

It’s not not terrible unless you haven’t played in awhile and then you’ve got to update two or three programs to play the game that you also have to update first.

76 Consider a password vault with an encrypted online storage. Even if you don't put anything vital in it, it keeps the passwords you don't use often safe and then it's easier to make them all different - which is a good policy to have.

I got an app for that on my phone after I came to the conclusion that keeping a list of logins/passwords on a list in the Notes app was probably not the most secure way to keep track of them.

This was before Apple introduced their Passwords/Keys app.

Oh, and coffee.

79 This smelly pile of feces masquerading as Windows 11 for the hundredth time just ate a post and put me in some type limbo where I had to start over to get back here. I was posting about the mishap concerning toes the other day turning out to be worse looking than it was in reality. Blessed be steel toed boots, I say. Didn't realize toes bled like that.

Anyway, allow me to wish for you great benefit in all you do with maximum heartburn affecting the leftwit fungi plaguing us.

83 People are highly skeptical he could make it for only 20% more, but it wouldn’t be far off from Apple, made in China & India, prices, so somebody might buy it.

Unfortunately, unless it is running some flavor of Linux, the OS won't be US, but have huge China and India input.

87 @IRONGRAMPA: I'm very glad your toes are mostly okay, and yes, steel toed (or composite toed) boots for the win.

Also: Previous mentions of gog.com for gaming: Yup. This. I said "No" to Steam from the very beginning with others looking at me like I was crazy. Now that Steam has started removing games because their content conflicts with what their payment processor masters (Visa, Mastercard) will allow in their own terms and conditions, I'm not looking so crazy.

GoG allows you to download full offline installers for purchased games. DRM has been removed. This is how you do it if you want to actually keep your purchases forever.

Okay, work beckons. Off I go.

They’ll have to use Windows unless 2026 really is the year everybody moves to Linux.

(I’m not very hopeful on that score)

92 I’ve got a few in GoG, and several on both Steam and Epic, where I never paid for one game but Epic gives them away free on the regular.

If I actually played any of them more than once every three months I’d actually be getting somewhere.

The monsoon rains are here and they have a glorious effect by making everything smell fresh and immediately dropping the temperature by 20 degrees for hours. This is provided you don't get swept away in a flash flood and die.

I use a password manager where I keep not only usernames and passwords but critical information related to that particular account. Additionally, I keep in a locked safe keep paper copy of critical digital account information and a backup of the password DB on a thumb drive. I update these once a quarter.

Late to the thread, but consider KeePass. There is a version for almost every platform, so you can keep and use synced versions of the encrypted DB on many different devices and in different locations.
