Me? Uh . . . not much. Still hurting a bit from the surgery of last Monday, though I move around well and can drive to the grocery. There are a few things I *need* to get today; the big shop can come tomorrow. The Killer Kittenz From Outer Space are galloping around after breakfast, Dagny with her Cat Dancer wire toy and Stirling leaping around with her. I recommend this toy to any cat people. It's simple, and since the curved wire wiggles on its own when they play with it, it'll keep them entertained/exercised for hours. Posted by: RickZ at July 20, 2025 *** We used to have those in the patio of our French Quarter apartment when I was a kid, along with not a few mosquitoes. Mom called the dragonflies "mosquito hawks." People don't believe me when I say we used to have fireflies too. My brother and I would trap them in a Tang jar of an evening with holes poked in the lid, and watch them flick their lights on and off. Then we'd open the jar and let them go. So family and I went to a lovely art museum in New Castle, Delaware - called "Delaware Art Museum"" not overwhelmingly large and with a terrific collection of of beautiful Pre- Raphaelite painting.
There was some modern arts and prints but I didn't see those, and some great illustrations by Howard Pyle. Unfortunately, there was the usual left wing bias in some of the commentary. There was a picture by Howard Pyle with a strong tall, man challenging a robber or criminal who was trying to assault or rob a woman. Because it's from the early 1900's we need to be told that the white man is seen as courageous and strong and the woman is in a subservient position. Oh, gee, because white men shouldn't be courageous and she should have whipped Led out her karate moves and defeated the robber. They got me on tape I'm sure saying that and rolling my eyes But I enjoyed it anyway and I liked that one of the pre-Raphaelites was a very devout Christian who had wanted to illustrate all of the scenes in the Bible. New Castle DEi has an old section Which dates from the late 1600s with lovely homes from the 1700's and 1800's with some cobblestone streets. I grew up in an area with lots of fire flies and did what every kid did, tried to catch them in a glass bottle. Where I live now, no spots of light in the back yard. I seldom watched TV at that age, and was outdoors building my backyard construction site with my little plastic trucks and cars. Mother read a lot and dad played poker or pool in a hidden backroom of a bar/restaurant.

The entire thing about the kiss cam at some rock concert it’s very strange to me. This has been by far the biggest story in the media of the last week. You can try to avoid it, but it just keeps popping up everywhere. It is not left or right it has been on all the news sites. I keep lowering my expectations about our culture, but I don’t do it quickly enough.

I had a similar experience with the 2002 Ford Explorer. If the cam position sensor gets wet, it kills the vehicle until it is replaced. It is on the underside of the engine compartment and the enclosure that is supposed to keep it dry is very easy for a mechanic to get wrong. I was twice stranded on a rainy. One of these times was on an offramp from the 210 Freeway in Pasadena just in time for rush hour.
I later did a search and found many forum entries discussing the problem, with several posters saying they always kept a spare as part of an emergency kit in the Explorer. Posted by: Epobirs at July 20, 2025 07:11 AM (/0z9K) 78

No one is safe from the Panopticon except those we choose to ignore.
——- What’s remarkable is that just at the point where the Digital Panopticon is perfected - nobody can theoretically get away with anything - the “authorities” and our betters stand down, and decide that say, stealing just under $1000 worth of merchandise is not worth the bother. It used to be possible to criss the county line, and you were home free. Then came Radio. Now? Retinal scans. Fingerprints. DNA. License plate readers. VIN readers. Cell phone tracking. Facial recognition tech, and on and on. They can track a cow from calf to a pound of hamburger for e coli recall, though not 25 million foreign nationals, illegal aliens, visa overstays, unlawful enemy combatants, etc. weird, huh?
