Morning again, Coffee Folken,
I actually still have some java left in the pot I made when I got up. The small cup I've been using since April, my retirement cup if you will, allows me to have several separate cups each morning, but each is smaller, so (in theory) I use less coffee every day. Who am I kidding, I still swill more than I should. It's good for me, right? Right?? Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at July 19, 2025 07:54 AM (omVj0) 11

Gray wolf update: Colorado Parks & Wildlife releases video of new wolf pups "On Thursday, CPW shared footage from a game camera that shows three wolf pups playing in a sun-dappled clearing." Sun-dappled? Really? If they were in a sun-dappled clearing I think accurate reporting would have described them as cavorting, frolicking or perhaps even gamboling. Those playful little scamps! Just so darned cute! D'awwww!! The wolf pup play prepares them for a future life of throat-ripping, hamstringing and mauling beef cattle and deer with the occasional rampage throough a chicken coop. If we deep-faked video of Bambi joining the pups in that sun-dappled clearing the pups would have playfully chased him down and playfully dragged him down by his haunches.. There also is a trophy in Dad's name presented each year by the Junior Hockey Association there. Israel ‘deeply impressed’ by Queens College response to Jew-hatred
Ofir Akunis, consul general of Israel in New York, said on Thursday that he is “deeply impressed” by the support and commitment that Queens College has shown to Israeli students on campus. The public college is part of the City University of New York system, in which many reported instances of Jew-hatred have been documented since Oct. 7. It's like all those years in professional wrestling are completely forgotten. He's doing a "heel turn" regarding Epstein, a sudden, unexpected about-face and that includes reviling fans. This is stock and trade on pro wrestling, and the whole point of it is to stir the pot, raise everyone's pulse and then - when the time is right - reverse course and be the hero again. The Trump vs Elon feud was a test run of this concept, with Elon playing the heel. The BBB got through, and then the whole plot just disappeared. What Trump is doing with Epstein is making the Dems push the issue, and they are stupidly doing just that because whatever Trump hates, they love. Good morning Horde! Prayers up for all. Always amazed at the (generally) fun and positive attitudes here in light of all the troubles, this group seems to truly live the verse at the end of the list. I generally check in and read the list (but not always in time to comment). Haven't provided an update in quite awhile. I'm doing great. Healthy (regularly competing in 5ks and Triathlons- 5 top 5 finishes/podiums this season). Ex Mrs. Farmer Bob has gone off the deep end (or, I guess, just remains so). She started stalking/harassing me with phony accounts on FB back in February, then crazy Tik Tok videos and FB shitposts. Strange/weird lies and accusations ("You gave up on your wife and family") when she abandoned us all, physically, financially, emotionally. It's weird, she asked for no contact back in Sept 2023. I honored that request, even though at first it felt like it would kill me. Not sure what's going on with her, but she looks absolutely terrible in the videos she's posted- gained at least 60 lbs, looks like she's aged 10 years in 2. Figure my best bet is to just ignore her. So, I guess what I'm saying is, thank you for your prayers, spare some for her if you can.

There are political risks involved with prosecuting Obama and his cabal. The current judicial coup makes me wonder if the Trump administration would even come close to getting a single conviction, let alone get a single case to court without being dismissed.
Maybe they'll have some sort of tribunal instead. If it gets that far. I've moved in with my mother during the week, after she fell again, and broke a couple of ribs. This will be an indefinite arrangement. It's either that, or assisted living, which she stridently opposes. She has sacrificed so much for so many in her life that I don't want to make her go to assisted living as long as I can be her assist.

A bit of a family update for those who have been following events at Chateau Lloyd.
My oldest seems to have turned over a new leaf in the last few weeks. She moved back in with us without actually asking. She would visit on weekends and stay in the kids' room but in June she never bothered to leave. And every night, more of her stuff showed up. This caused a bit of friction, but I've learned that I often create my own opposition, so I've been mostly passive. Anyhow, when i discussed getting new furniture for the kids, which would include one of those cool twin/full size bunk beds, showed her what I was looking at and agreed with her choice, things began to change. It was little things at first, but yesterday she was doing yard work, tidying up the front lawn and sidewalk, pulling weeds, etc. In short, she is helpful and cooperative, as she used to be. God be praised! Posted by: Ace-Endorsed Author A.H. Lloyd at July 19, 2025 09:09 AM (ZOv7s) 164

103 Israel ‘deeply impressed’ by Queens College response to Jew-hatred
Ofir Akunis, consul general of Israel in New York, said on Thursday that he is “deeply impressed” by the support and commitment that Queens College has shown to Israeli students on campus. The public college is part of the City University of New York system, in which many reported instances of Jew-hatred have been documented since Oct. 7. Queens College was one of the few schools that the Anti-Defamation League gave an “A” grade in its 2025 campus report card. ==== Yeah we're not like those guidos at Brooklyn College. Mr. Trump was, I remain convinced, the political equivalent of “In Case Of Emergency, Break Glass” kinda guy, held in reserve for just such an occasion. He had reportedly been considering a presidential run for quite some time. He knew what was entailed, and conducted himself accordingly for quite some time as well.
It is an axiom in politics, that leftists will hold people to standards they themselves reject, ordinarily. But this is why it is so important to stay out of any controversy they can hold against you, an almost impossible standard, but there it is. The Electorate finally caught on. The Democrats were incandescent with rage, that the Evangelicals, those poor benighted mouth breather hicks in Flyover Jesus Land, would deign to vote for such an uncouth, boorish monster from Queens. Dogsitting daughter and s-i-l's two dogs. Last night's thunderstorm drove them into our bedroom, whereas before they'd been happily confined to the main room. Now, like last night, they think they can just camp out in our bedroom. The larger one even jumped up on the bed after MiladyJo was up, but did respond to my yelling to get down. Only three more nights. Maybe four.
I showed them. I got up, dressed, and first thing took our Daisy the excellent Malinois out for a good walk. Before it got too hot out. Now I've caught up on the ONT tail-end and jumped over the tech thread to land here. Coffee is fresh and hot. Now to check the hidden click and the prayer list. Jesus, can you send that legion of angels with swords now, and maybe a slew of angelic physicians? We haven't earned it, but I know you are strong and merciful. Please. Yes, but they mistake forbearance for weakness. Americans are slow to saddle up, that much is true. A high trust society is not a luxury or “nice thing to have”, it is a pre-requisite (sorry!) to a functioning society, or advanced modern civilization. The shithole countries have never amounted to anything and never will amount to anything, so long as they fail to advance along those lines. Americans suffer from normalcy bias, thinking (or hoping) that things will somehow get back to normal, but that’s not how this works. That’s not how any of this works. ------------ My folks went to a "retirement community." They started out in a duplex. Paid a "mortgage" but never actually owned the place, but got to take the interest off on taxes. Paid their own utilities too. But the maintenance was part of the deal. When my dad's dementia got so bad, and he was more or less immobile, he went into assisted living until being moved into hospice. All at the same place. It was a suitable arrangement for them. My mom passed away in 2020, in the very duplex they started out in about 20 years ago. And, yea, it cost them a lot of money. But I think it was worth it. Much as we hate them I think there is a tendency to believe that unless the media hypes a story it doesn't really exist. The documents Tulsi released are earth shattering. Most of us have known for a long time the basics of what happened and when but to get actual documentation that Obama knowingly sent his intel community on a mission to rewrite the intelligence to frame his successor and run a coup against him is banana republic stuff. It can't be ignored by everyone. And we are just getting started. This is why Kash and Bongino were put in their jobs. Posted by: runner --- Yes, they are definitely expensive but I was surprised that it was within reach for my mother. She had a long term care policy. It had various levels of benefits, including a 1/4 benefit which you could request as "cash benefits" to help with informal caregiving, outside a facility. With her LTC plus SS and small retirement income, she could afford AL with a little left over each month. But she wouldn't have been able to afford skilled nursing. I don't like to give advice, but if you can, buy an LTC policy. They're cheaper if you start younger. (I started mine at age 27 - probably the only smart thing I've ever done.) We had difficulty getting the proper documentation to get mom approved, but once she was in, they were great. I doubt most of them even know yet. It's not like the media they watch is telling them. I saw a recent poll that shows most Democrats still think Russia collusion was real. I never even met him, but I was a member of his church during the Covid period and I’ve heard hours and hours of his sermons both live and on YouTube. When he eulogized his friend RC Sproul a few years ago he said that man’s death left a huge hole in his heart. I feel the same way about him. Also… it made me realize even more that I might not have my own father many more years; he is also a pastor and my hero. He’s in decent health for his advanced age but we’ve no guarantees. My first-world problem du jour is that I have to get out and help my elderly inlaws hump their laundry to the laundromat. I mentioned in the ONT a day or two ago that their first washer/dryer set lasted from 1972 (when they got the house) until 2020 or so. The second one lasted until about 2023. The third one is currently hors de combat, waiting a couple of weeks for a replacement computer board. But hey, it's got a fancy digital readout, rather than just physical knobs and buttons like some kind of caveman tool. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy spending time with them... it's just that I don't exactly consider the laundromat to be quality time... especially not at 0800 on a Saturday morning. My first Communism lessons came through two men who arrived here in the 50s and 60s, one Hungarian and one Russian, one a machinist and the other a concrete guy. Both knew work, what constituted value, crushing oppression and poverty. The Hungarian taught me what it means to lose a nation, lose your freedom, feel terror and the mind boggling amount of guts it took to escape it. He hated the Soviets with a heat that is still toasty to this day. He expressed this with the best profanity laced insults that could go on for what seemed like hours. He taught me a lot about the value of purposeful cursing. The Russian taught me how great was my life. He never took for granted what it meant to have food in the house and what we had here in the states was a miracle. He also taught me what it means to live without fear of being arrested on a whim; him growing up under Stalin made him something of an expert on this subject. What Tulsi released yesterday was evidence around the December 2016 White House meeting that led to the abandoning of months of intel reporting concluding that Russia did NOT interfere in the 2016 election and didn't even have the capability. That's when Obama commissioned the ICA written by Comey, Brennan and others that completely went 180 and claimed Russia did interfere to help Trump. And then it was leaked to the media.
Hillary was the candidate in 2016 not part of the Obama White House at the time. This is just the first bit of evidence. The conspiracy was years long. We'll get more. Posted by: JackStraw at July 19, 2025 10:40 AM (viF8m) 390

I go back and forth on this. On the one hand I agree it is not good to be charging former presidents. On the other hand what Obama did was down right treasonous.
He didn't just try and take down Trump and deprive all of us of our votes, he severly damaged our relationship with Russia, elevated Ukraine and probably helped contribute to where we are right now. Putin knows he was falsely accused of trying to rig our election. I bet that doesn't sit well even now that Trump is back. Maybe charge him, try him and then have Trump pardon him. But under no circumstances should this not be fully exposed. The cats like to scratch them, they collect hair and dirt, if the cats throw up on the carpet it's a pain to clean, etc. When I buy my house, an existing hardwood or laminate floor will be a selling point for me. If I have to have the floors redone in the laminate, so be it. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at July 19, 2025 11:25 AM (omVj0) 448

I remember wayback when Donald was hillZbubs stalking horse. No way was he a serious candidate. He's just in it for the lulz, at least that was what the kool kidz were saying.
Right here on this blog. That same defeatism is rampant here still. If you can't suceed, do not bother trying. Yeah, and you would be stuck with another worthless prog in the Oval Office today. Posted by: Somewhere South of I-80 at July 19, 2025 11:29 AM (89Sog) 450
>>> We were a better country when we had carpet instead of hardwood.
Posted by: Dr. Pork Chops & Bacons at July 19, 2025 11:17 AM (g8Ew ----------- See, now if we're talking about actual floors, or women's privates, I completely disagree with you. Posted by: BurtTC at July 19, 2025 11:21 AM (SyQqu) Generally applicable statement: Carpet has gotten a bad rap over the past half century but if it's well cared for and kept neat and clean it's more comfy and better looking than hardwood. Not to go all chesterton's fence about it but it was installed down there for a reason and just yanking it up willynilly without thinking things through isn't the improvement people think it is. I'm so blessed. By the way, I am on a corner lot. Surrounded by 5 wonderful neighbours all around. Sweet. Everyone, have the best day possible. Posted by: Stateless - HAPPY NOT HOMELESS! - New Life Creation 13.7 % at July 19, 2025 11:39 AM (jvJvP) 452
Talc used to be made from asbestos. Nowadays it's corn starch. Not sure there is any difference in actual practice.
The Pinaud Clubman brand, infused with their signature "barbershop" scent, is great stuff, but ordinary Johnson's Baby Powder works too. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at July 19, 2025 09:32 AM (omVj0) No, talc is a mineral in its own right, and is mined for extensively. Thing is, the geological conditions essential to its formation are also conducive to the formation of various asbestos minerals, and they can be co-mingled in the mine. Asbestos can be ground to fine powder as easily as talc, but the powder granules are slender crystalline slivers instead of tiny flakes, and can apparently pierce the walls of body cells. Moral: don't inhale talcum powder dust, or blow it up your hoo-hah, and you will be fine. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at July 19, 2025 11:49 AM (Ux/Nh) 453
The CBC just started the hour with Trump, Epstein, the WSJ and the President's $10 billion lawsuit. And in the name of fairness and objectivity, the CBC is bringing in the best and brightest!
