Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Trump Advises Prosecution of Adam Schiff for Mortgage FraudThis doesn't seem like a big story but it's a slow news day. The problem is that Schiff claims his Maryland home is his primary residence in order to get a lower interest rate for the mortgage. But the law says that a Senator must actually reside in his home state (California, in Schiff's case). This could be characterized as mortgage fraud, but I dunno. We all know that most senators live permanently in the DC area and the idea that they are primarily residents of their "home" state is just another fiction in the Empire of Lies. Then again, I have been reliably informed that No One Is Above the Law, even when it comes to ticky-tack stuff like keeping a napkin you wrote a note on as president. This isn't much of a post so I'll try to find another story within 30-40 minutes. I can see where a senator lying on a mortgage app is way more serious than a senator going to a billionaire sex Island.

This is Trump's reminder that "You guys played footsy with the law to come after me--payback's a bitch."
Its inexcusable how *cheap* this makes Schiff look. He's a publicly elected official from the state of California, and rather than acknowledging that and paying the extra 1-2% in APR for a "2nd home" purchase he checked the "primary residence" box. Its not only "fraud" because its a blatant misrepresentation, its chintzy as hell. The cool kids should laugh and point...but they won't, because the cool kids in DC are crooks too. "This could be characterized as mortgage fraud, but I dunno."
It is mortgage fraud. But it's a "fraud" that everyone with more than one property always does. I do it myself. The banks all know about it and look the other way. The banks care even less about this than they do the property owner's estimation of the property's value. You can't defraud someone who knows you're lying. What state is Adam Shitt's driver's license? I'll bet CA. The bank would easily notice this when he provided it as ID at the closing. The bank didn't care. This is nothing more than a rather clever message.
The Democrat party is still headless. And, while Schiff isn't one to lead the party, it shows that the administration is willing to smack those that start making waves. The administration did the same with Letisha James days after she announced that she was pursuing Trump in court on a new issue. The minute someone of substance sticks their head up, the administration is going to focus on them with a laser and stuff like Schiff's Mortgage hits the news. It guarantees that the Democrat party remains headless, wandering, and in the hands of idiot radicals like Crockett. Posted by: Orson at July 15, 2025 01:20 PM (dIske) 51

I don't know how "primary residence" was defined in the mortgage document. Though, I tend to think both lenders and insurers care to know in which house the owner actually spends most of his time. So, possibly the Maryland one, even despite the pretense of endless-terms congresspeople being residents of the district they represent.
So, I'd have to see the mortgage itself to say anything wrong was done. Yes, I'm a lawyer. (Wherever he lives, I have trouble seeing Schiff as representing the interests of his constituents, any more. He's a propagandist for the national party, and loyal to his own vanity only. Not crimes. The Tish James one seems like much more of a real case because she had no reason to list a Virginia home as her primary (she has no job there) and she did other shady stuff like list a property as having four units when it had five to skate on multi-family property mortgage rules, besides listing her dad as her husband, whoopsie, who hasn't made that mistake. Posted by: gnats local 678 at July 15, 2025 01:34 PM (CWTWj) You can have different primary residences for different purposes. Especially in an odd job like being a Congressman. I assume he is registered to vote in CA. I assume his drivers license is issued by CA. But he very likely does spend more than half the year in the DC area, and he earns his money in DC. So for a mortgage purposes, that may be his primary residence. So for voting purposes, he's a resident of CA, for tax purposes, he's probably a primary resident of MD or whatever. Although, again, I don't know if there are special rules for Congressmen (do they pay taxes on their income in their home district?), and different states handle taxes, residency, long arm statutes, etc. differently. NY, famously, taxes professional athletes on any income they earn in NY. So you play against the Knicks, x% of your salary is owed to NYS in taxes. I believe that this story is critically important. The entire field of "political science" is invalid once you realize that there are only two kinds of government: One strives to make the law apply equally to everyone; the other bucket is a shit pot holding every other kind. Making distinctions among the wrong kinds is effectively debating the number of angels that can dance on the head of a pin. A circle jerk would be more productive. Or I could be wrong. I dunno. Posted by: TheJamesMadison, searching for thrills with John Frankenheimer at July 15, 2025 01:43 PM (GBKbO) My read? Cuomo has a much better network / establishment / corruption system behind him. Adams made a lot of enemies in Brooklyn when he was borough president (basically giving the graft to his people, and taking it away from others). That might cost him the Republican Jewish vote, they'll likely stick with Silwa. Plus, of course, running his mouth about the migrant stuff that got him indicted didn't make him a lot of friends in Dem circles in NYC. BUT I think most actual voters are sick of the Cuomo dynasty. So, to game theory this out: Cuomo should drop out and throw his full endorsement and corruption machine behind Adams. A Cat might hork up a furball, or possibly hurl a furball, but never, ever hurk. It just isn’t done. Posted by: Morris, your ever present protocol kitty at July 15, 2025 01:55 PM (uywL/) 238
Voyager wasted a lot of decent characters. It's later seasons had better stories, but the were also the Holodoc and Jeri Ryan's tuts era.

Voyager trivialized the Borg from a significant menace to a simple nuisance. "Hey, there's a Borg cube coming up!" "Nah, it'll be fine." Posted by: WitchDoktor at July 15, 2025 01:53 PM (PzXaK) ====== True. But, there were a large amount of solid individual episodes, especially in Season 5. >>>Just goes to prove that all Donnas are bad.
They aren't all bad, they're just drawn that way. Hey, we could do a thread with Donna in the title or lyrics. I'll go first, and I won't include the song title, you can guess. Donna, Donna, educate me, tell those girls that I'm not alone... Hey little Donna, aww ya still wanna? This is NOT a slow news day. Israel; the CPI report; Russia/UKR. It looks to me as if Israel is tying itself in knots. Public opinion about to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, imo. Both sides tying to spin the CPI report, but it's not good for Trump & his economic team, imo. I'm uneasy about reports that Trump/NATO are now signaling approval for UKR to target Moscow. The "Beverly Crusher has sex with ghosts" episode would like to dispute that.
Posted by: Ian S. at July 15, 2025 01:53 PM (2ocoG) lol I'd forgotten that one. OK, a lot more of the show was fine-tuned after season 3 (a lot less Wesley!). They still had some strange & questionable choices in there. Posted by: SpeakingOf at July 15, 2025 02:01 PM (6ydKt) 245
179 🚨NEW: Alan Dershowitz says it's *NOT* Trump Admin that's hiding Epstein info — it's judges🚨
"Many of the things that are being suppressed are being suppressed by two judges in Manhattan." "The judges have issued orders — which is why I can't disclose things I'd love to disclose" Posted by: Washington Nearsider ======== He is probably correct in part as those judges have power over grand jury testimony over Maxwell and Epstein and depositions in the Prince Andrew lawsuits. The good news is that evidence is probably less tainted because of the eyes on those documents/testimony. The bad news is any of that evidence is unlikely to have much if anything about CIA/FBI/Foreign Intel in it. Maxwell's prosecution dealt with her pandering for Epstein personally, not others. Epstein's was for sexual trafficking but I would have to dig up the indictment for it because I cannot find a grand jury. Approximately twenty lawsuits by victims have been filed against the estate for Epstein's crimes with the list of Jane Does and the few named/initialed plaintiffs counting well into the double digits. Alleged assaults from the 1970's onward. Posted by: whig at July 15, 2025 02:02 PM (ctrM5) 246
