Weird day today. Was going to bring big black Stirling to the vet, but the Buick refused to start. Something called "Battery Saver Mode" was in effect, and I even saw a line of what was labeled as Linux (!) code in the entertainment center. Called AAA; it turned out to be the battery was low (maybe I left a light on? The stereo?). Battery is now recharged after a long drive, and I will buy a new and better one in a week or so. So Stirling got a reprieve, or actually a stay.
The Superman movie thread this afternoon revived me, and my interest in going to see an actual movie at an actual theatre.

Have Congress hire her to review bills that add or change the US Code. If it doesn't change it, or just deletes part of it, she skips those.
She then gets to ask the Representative or Senator who submitted the bill questions. Just those people - no staff. The time she gets to question could be based on the size of the bill. When that's over, she announces whether she understands it or not.
She has to give up being a judge, and no moonlighting. Her pay would be what it is now. The job exists until she retires, or Congress votes to kick her out.

I have to gone to 3 different groups, 3 separate issues, each time thinking we were going to exchange tips, tricks, encourage each other. Brought a brand new pen and notebook set, to house all the excellent information that would be shared.

Big red tabby Arizona and I knew from Day Two that he was My Cat and I was His Human, and there was never any question of either. But he was occasionally difficult and distant, gave me hell when it came vet time, disliked other cats, etc. He was what he was.

The guy who was video'd doing that at the Paramount (part of LA area) chapter of the initial festivities over ICE actions in LA was being sought, don't know if they collared him.
Various individuals have been arrested for interference, and I think assault, at some of the small melees involving ICE.
Issue here is same as I noted in connection with Trump's "SLIMEBALLS" post (I hereby give it that title, for posterity) - tactical situation, and numbers. ICE is there to get their illegal targets, that's it. They often don't have the force or set-up to also grab some of the idiots - some times they do. Do it will depend.

I had a cat named Feline, a black long haired cat who always held her tail up high like a flag. Had a very hard early life and really hated people, would hiss and spit at almost everyone - but I had been kind to her, and she decided that she loved me and hated everyone else. It was really astounding and strange to me, I’d never before (and probably never will again) have a pet so personally devoted to me, to the exclusion of all others.
There were plenty of stories about her, she passed away a few years ago, but on her terms.

From the chart, Michigan, Baltimore, Idaho, Memphis all sound interesting but are not Correct.
(In case you're wondering, ketchup on hot dog is Wrong if you're over the age of 12. Onions are not something I enjoy on hot dogs usually, but can be okay in small amounts or light flavor.)
Many of the others are either technically incorrect (kolache != hot dog), or look like someone took an existing dish and swapped in a hot dog, or just threw stuff together with no accounting for whether the tastes flow correctly.

Actually +2. Daughter #2 had some pretty severe stomach issues in 2nd and 3rd grade. However, a chili cheese dog would soak up all of her stomach acid.
If she was having a bad day at school, she would run home and I would make her a quick chili dog (and one for dad).
Must have been good comfort food, because if we go out to eat a family dinner at a place that offers chili dogs, she still orders them at age 25!

So many tales like that. I watched The Goldfinch to see just how they were going to cram that book into a single feature, and it's like they had someone write a one-page double-spaced plot summary, randomly subtracted key adjectives and added "not" before some words, and shot that.
No one has ever had the inclination to make Wuthering Heights properly either, which gets my back up because there's a production underway right now. Starring as 18-year-old chestnut-locks in the year 1783 Catherine Earnshaw is... Margot Robbie. A publicity pic has been released of her wedding to Edgar Linton. I would have thought so until I said wth I'll try that once in a little stand that is no more. It was a chili dog with parmesan. NOW HANG ON. The chili was like none I've had elsewhere, ground beef chopped verrrrry small, nothing else biteable so it was almost like a sauce. Then finely ground Parmigiano Reggiano dusted across it. It was a revelation that I have not been able to re-create.

I would be fine having feral cats around in our future retirement place. But we love to travel, and there are not a lot of cat-friendly motels out there.
In all honesty, we will likely do without a critter for a few years, because we love to travel. Spur-of-the-moment road trips. Can't do that with a geriatric kitty.

I think I've said this on the ONT before, but I had a friend who had an older cat, and then got a puppy. Who learned how to fight from the cat. He'd roll onto his back and try to grab with all four paws.
Extra-hilarious because it was a dachshund.

Yeah, that makes sense. We are going on vacation this week, and with the add of the dog, we are just having our pet sitter stay at the house. We haven’t left him alone and I feel like boarding him would be too traumatic at this stage. So overnight pet sitter it is! Not conducive to just up and leaving when you have to arrange all that.

There was a corn dog truck at the top of Snoqualmie Pass where we would stop after a day of snow skiing with the boys. She hand dipped the dogs on a stick into her corn bread batter and then into the hot oil.
Pulled them out and handed to you with a paper protector on the bottom of the stick to keep the hot oil from burning your hand. Add mustard or ketchup as needed and burn tf out of your mouth eating them.
So awesome. And great memories.

Then into the oven. Don't know the temp or duration.

Heh. I can imagine. I've had a colostomy bag for six months, then after more surgery, now an ileostomy for fifteen months and counting.
A while back, I found out about a local ostomy support group. I tried to imagine what kind of support I'd get, what would we discuss? "So, do you prefer the clip, the valve, or the velcro closer?" And… things too yuck to joke about on here.
I get by because I have to. Don't like it but since I was thisclose to dying before the first surgery, I'm quite grateful to be alive, whatever $#!+ I have to deal with. MiladyJo is my support group, and expert nurse, so I am greatly blessed.
Might even get sewn back together one day, God willing. Repairs are… delayed.
And on that oversharing note, I take my leave for the night. At least in my dreams, I don't have that stuff.

My dad did the same thing when I was a kid. Only when mom was out for one reason or another on a weekend, so it wasn't often, but my sister and I loved it. He had to use Kraft singles, though, since my mom was a bit boring when it came to grocery shopping at the commissary. Good memories.

When I was in electronics class we cooked some hot dogs with the push a nail into each end, wrap wire around each end and plug it into the wall method. It was to prove how you can get fried by electricity. The teacher says any questions? I said yeah, can we do burgers tomorrow? lol

I tried that when I was in grade school. One, it left a metallic taste where the nails were, and two, the very ends of the dog didn't get cooked, and stayed cold. If you used graphite blocks pressed firmly against the ends of the dog, it might work well.

Well the t had to be something I did, or didn’t do. Turns out that’s what I get for not wearing my peepers, needed for close in work. A carb gasket fell off and somehow it was installed backwards, and interfered with proper air flow naturally, or covered up an emulsion air bleed or somethin’. Attention to detail rock & rollers!

I was more impressed with the electric motor constructed from iron pipe, elbows, and a gazillion feet of insulated wire, with copper pennies for armature and the rest of it. Dad made all sorts of cool stuff for us kids, he never quite grew up I don’t believe.

Thinking it through a bit, the one second delay between the switch cutoff is consistent with a human action time.
A "computer" could deactivate both controls instantaneously. A smart saboteur could take this into account.
But then...
Why would the switches be restored later if it was sabotage. Only one engine restarted witch is probably why it crashed. Maybe if both had restated it would just be some weird glitch that was lost in the noise.
I don't know much about the specific avionics in the Dreamliner but with the very strong trend these days to make pilots kind of accessories, I would really be looking at what other condition other than the physical switches being manipulated could have caused this to happen.
There were four total glitches, one for each switch and one for each action.
Very strange.
I'm sure the airline pilots are discussing this somewhere.

The kitten at feeding time remind me of Jojo our, rescued from the mouth of a dog, cat. He had a voracious appetite when we rescued him. Like every hour wanting food. I think he was only about 3 weeks old at the time.
I get a $4/hr shift differential for working swing. They tried to put me on days but I refused. I like swing and day shift is mostly a bunch of tards that I want as little to do with as possible.
I hate waking up to an alarm clock.
I have always been a night owl but circumstances with the kid and such demanded that I do days.

We on swing help each other. We truly act like a team. We double days production with 1/2 the people. They try and steal our people in hopes of finding "good workers" not realizing that everyone can be a "good worker" when they are treated with respect and not like some idiot who just fell off a turnip truck out front and stumbled through the door.
We identify and correct issues. Days fires people for stupid shit. Totally unwarranted sometimes. We have lost some good people who were fine for months on swing then get moved and are gone before the end of the week.
They have way to many cheifs and can't keep indians around.
It's a night and day difference.

Too many 'big wheels' rolling thru Day Shift, that gotta make a name for themselves.
But also-- night & weekend shifts had the least supervision. They were able to fk-off a lot, and they DID... product quality went to sh*t.. and Days got to hear all about it, almost like accusation, and it built resentment.
"Days" was full of slackers, too. Biding their time for retirement, didn't give a sh*t, buncha tattle-tales-- "trying to clip the wings of others, because they themselves could not fly..."

We're running Linux (a Debian version, I think) -- wifey and I are both former software developers and she's handled the difficult setup of the system.
Unfortunately, non-software types likely can't figure out how to setup and use a Linux OS ... but if you (or someone you know) can, you can pretty much replicate all of the popular Windows programs including the Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. we're using an open source freeware "LibreOffice" suite of programs that can use and convert from/to Microsoft Office analogs).

Whatever Hoover's personal proclivities were, he cared about America, and hated Reds. The FBI simply could not move without Justice and the WH.
