Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Trump Sues California For Violating Title IX's Purpose of Reserving Female Sports for FemalesThat's now been exposed as the toe-in-the-water first attempt at political reinvention that it was. He's a Trans Crusader and always will be. Pam Bondi even quoted Transin' Newsom's statement that it's "deeply unfair" to force women to compete with men to support the lawsuit.
The left continues claiming that Trump didn't reduce the price of eggs despite the fact that Trump has already reduced the price of eggs. But if they want him to do more to reduce the price of eggs further, fine. He's also suing California for its interference in the national egg market. The Trump administration sued California and Gov. Gavin Newsom over the state's anti-animal cruelty laws Wednesday, alleging they are contributing to the high cost of egg prices and are superseded by a federal law regulating egg quality, inspection and packaging. In its complaint, the Justice Department is attempting to block state laws that require additional space for hen-growing chickens, arguing they are "unnecessary red tape" and "do not advance consumer welfare." "California has effectively prevented farmers across the country from using a number of agricultural production methods which were in widespread use and which helped keep eggs affordable," the Justice Department wrote in its civil complaint. Two California ballot initiatives, passed in 2008 and 2018, mandate higher standards and housing requirements for hen-laying chickens and eggs sold in the state, requiring the birds to be given enough space to extend their limbs and move without touching another bird. The 2018 ballot initiative also bars hens from being kept in any "enclosure other than a cage-free housing system" and mandates space requirements for breeding pigs and calves raised for veal.I don't know about this one. There is a doctrine of federal supremacy that says that any state law that conflicts with federal law is null and void. There's always a question about whether the federal law is "so comprehensive" as to preclude any state laws in this area. And also: The federal government's power to intrude into state law is limited, or at least was intended to be limited. Eh, I think it's weak. But I do like that Trump is hitting the idea that it's the left responsible for inflation and high prices, and he's doing what he can to improve things. Lawfare for me? Then lawfare for thee. Also: Trump is shutting down a Clinton-era policy that allows illegal aliens to use taxpayer educational funds to pay for schooling. Below, Transin' Newsom is incensed that Trump is trying to roll back trans rights all the way back to (checks calendar) 2016.

And also: The federal government's power to intrude into state law is limited, or at least was intended to be limited. ------- You are discussing the old era of E.C. Knight's dual federalism as applied to the commerce clause. Essentially though NLRB v Jones and Laughlin Steel and West Coast Hotel v. And in instances where federal regulations of the marketplace exist, they override state regulations under the dormant commerce clause.
After Wickard and reemphasized by Raich, states can only regulate where fedgov is silent and fed power is absolute over commerce when exercised. That was one of the primary reasons that the constitutional convention was convened. To fix the states monkeying up commerce among the states and specifically all the Framers agreed that state power had to be overridden via the supremacy clause in areas where the federal government has an enumerated power to regulate (aka commerce among the states). The exception is when a state is allowed concurrent power (see state pollution control agencies or food production regulation) or federal regulatory power is absent when the subject is commerce. It was a major reason I used to raise my own chickens and why to this day I buy grey market eggs from an Amish dude. Posted by: Harry Paratestes ====== I hate to tell you Harry but it is easy to get Salmonella from field raised chickens. If a chicken's internal organs are infected by Salmonella (usually via food or water transmission) then it lays Salmonella contaminated eggs. Field raised chickens almost always have a greater need (for commercial operations) for antibiotics, dewormers, and other medications because field conditions are less than sterile. That is because chickens are essentially scavengers that can and do eat their own and other's crap among other nasty things. Left to their own devices, chickens can even be cannibalistic. Essentially dinosaur descendants with feathers. Farm raised pigs on grazing land can have similar food safety issues. The paet I nevr understand is this:
Setting aside all the politics, all the gender insanity, all the legal fights: Why aren't the men who compete against girls EMBARRaSSED and ASHAMED of themselves? But they aren't. Never. If you look of the photos and videos of the winning "trans" athletes, they are PROUD of themselves for blatantly cheating. Never any shame. Never any embarrassment. Never any self-doubt. This whole problem would evaporate if these people had the slightest iota of self-consciousness. But there's something deeply wrong with them, and it's not even the "trans" gender stuff. They can have 6 billion people pointing out they they are immoral cheaters, and their response is to smile and wave and feel sanctimonious in their villainy. They're all severely mentally ill, but not in the way people think they are. Posted by: zombie at July 10, 2025 02:40 PM (pMi6S) 99

Posted by: whig at July 10, 2025 02:37 PM (ctrM5) That's not my primary concern. The chickens in the big factories are frankenchickens (cornish cross for meat birds, for example) who live a freakishly accelerated life cycle in a tiny cramped warehouse living in their own shit with only minimal ability to move. They get in constant fights with each other, and are stressed out for their entire lives. Thus why the default for chicken feed includes antibiotics, because they're always all scrappy and cut up from the jostling and fighting. Then we eat them. Diseases are what they are. Yes, birds who spend their entire lives in warehouses are much less likely to catch diseases from nature then the birds who wander around outside, but that's a trade off. And designed for more people to get more opportunities to compete. One might even say they are discriminatory - hey, I have big bones!
If the law says "female" then there needs to be a definable measure of "female". Just like there is for weight class. Female = XX chromosomes. So, here's an idea. Form a company that does that. Raise your chickens with whatever restrictions you think you need. Buy advertising telling people how awesome your products are. In part, that is why China repeatedly is and was a source for many livestock viruses that jumped the gap to humans. They literally live with their pigs, chickens, etc. Thus, aerial spread viruses such as flu due to proximity and dose (along with smoking, poor ventiliation, etc) create a petri dish for raising viruses. But, there is also the problem with vaxx. Marek's disease is an example where a vaxx in the 70's created a dependency on continued vaxx. By interfering with survival of the fittest, the vaxx for Mareks created a vax dependency where non vaxxed chickens die as it has destroyed native immunity to Mareks. I looked into this chicken thing and it is complicated.
Most of the laws are not too bad, but they require access to "free range" and that can be a problem because chickens like staying protected close to the nest. My solution is to require a photo of the "battery" or cage that the eggs come from on the package. Let the public decide what they want to buy. When I used to travel to China and had chickens at home, I always spent a few weeks isolating myself from my birds in case I picked up some weird Chinese bird flu. And yes, wild birds do take a lot of interest in chickens and in the chickens food. I once had a blue heron try to, ahem, get a little too friendly with one of my hens. I was not too pleased. I agree, it is a trade off. Birds outside are much more likely to come in contact with wild birds and other vectors for disease than birds in a warehouse are. Posted by: Helena Handbasket at July 10, 2025 03:04 PM (ULPxl) I never raised chickens commercially, but from what I understand from people who have done so, "organic" is a third party label (like the good housekeeping stamp of approval or whatever), that has strict and pedantic regulations and is not worth getting involved in for most farmers. For example, if a cow cuts her leg on a fence, you are not allowed to give her antibiotics. So you either see if she heals on her own or dies from infection. Obviously that's a waste of money and meat and most people would be fine with eating beef that got proper medical treatment. The issue is the routine use of hormones and antibiotics and vaccines and everything else thats mixed in with commercial feed. That shit gets in our food supply. Plus the inhumane treatment of animals in factory farms is pretty gross to a lot of people (me included). Posted by: Harry Paratestes at July 10, 2025 03:09 PM (uCjyK) 281

Posted by: bob (moron incognitus) You would find those far better than pictures from slaughterhouse for animals. The should be whether or not the food is healthy and nutritious. Farmers have made great strides in the US to do so. Not so much for figuring out the optimal happyness of animals apart from gross calculations of yield aka weight on animals or the proportion of egg laying. Stressed animals of any sort fail to put on weight, don't lay eggs, don't give milk, don't breed. It is nature's way of self limiting the population. I see the same talk by urban and suburban types regarding hunting. Then they get involved in whether or not some animal should be hunted. Nature is often shocking cruel, violent, and absent of anything other than the law of the jungle. It ain't Disney out there. And one of the cruelest fate is not the gunshot that kills Bambi's mother but the relentless effects of starvation and disease when you ban it. Posted by: whig at July 10, 2025 03:10 PM (ctrM5) 286

As I recall, much the same argument was made to claim that slavery wasn't cruel. Posted by: Rodrigo Borgia =========== Not really. You are putting animals into human terms which is unpersuasive itself. They ain't humans. So you can feel free to not consume animals anytime that you like or even food. FWIW, By the time of the ACW, slavery was unprofitable except to a) sell new slaves westward, and b) cotton. Those that trained a slave to serve as skilled labor faced the real possibility of them fleeing to a free state as Frederick Douglass did. Those that allowed literacy, etc. of their slaves made them more human. One of the problems that ended up draining a lot of eastern plantations was the soil was exhausted, their labor force aging, and Southern laws compelled slave owners to keep old slaves kept up with food, etc. The old solution before the 1820-30's was manumitting them when they aged. South though restricted that due to fears of a large free black population so the only thing left for older plantations was to breed slaves. The import ban, soil exhaustion via cotton, and western lands helped with that awful market. Blonde Morticia, you are so right. And I'm sure the CGI employees are doing the pushing too. "You're talents are SO wasted here, Chelsea! You should run for office!" I think deep in their souls, these political nebo babies and minor celebs WANT to matter. They know they lead useless lives. I think the divine in us craves purpose. Unfortunately the liberals have taught her since childhood to use that divine spark of purpose in a twisted way: to grift, steal, and desire to dominate/bully others. Did you see that Charlize Theron has an African charity she named AFTER herself? The egos are too much. Posted by: LizLem at July 10, 2025 03:28 PM (gWBY1) 383

Do it for all the foreign produce brought in where night soil (human shit) is used as fertilizer and workers simply do their business in the fields without washing hands, etc.
You don't have to go the foreign route for that. Posted by: rickb223 at July 10, 2025 03:29 PM (e2MJJ) 385
But that's not how it works outside of farmers markets. Posted by: Harry Paratestes at July 10, 2025 02:56 PM (uCjyK) Most farmers markets are fake nowadays. If the produce is uniform and pretty; if there's any barcode stickers; if the booth has stacks of branded produce boxes etc. Then they are resellers who buy produce from the same wholesaler as your local grocery chain. What is nurse Sarah going to do, Inquire of everybody who comes into the ER-"Who did you vote for in the last election"? I know how food is made and most people would rush to their representative to make the bad pictures stop. Or they would starve.
Nature and this world in general is cruel. Posted by: whig ---- so you are against it because it would be too effective? I only said eggs because that is what the people are arguing about now but I do think it should all be publicly accessible. So what if people are revolted -- that is the point. Teach these idiots what the world really is about. I think it will do both - inform the public to make them less priggish, and improve some of the worst practices. The issue is the routine use of hormones and antibiotics and vaccines and everything else thats mixed in with commercial feed. That shit gets in our food supply.

"Eh, I think it's weak. But I do like that Trump is hitting the idea that it's the left responsible for inflation and high prices, and he's doing what he can to improve things.
Lawfare for me? Then lawfare for thee." *** Ace, it's war. Have you not said that already umpteen times? If the enemy keeps attacking you with poison gas, at some point you need to quit whining about the Geneva Protocol and gas their asses right back. The stakes are too high to take the damn high road. This isn't a limited conflict. This is total war for all civilization. Quit letting the enemy use your morals against you. "Lawfare for me? Then lawfare for thee." In-f*cking-deed. Tear them limb from limb legally, especially now that things like USAID have been taken from them, and they cannot afford eternal lawfare. So many on the Right seem to conflate moral victory with actual victory. In what f*cking war ever, EVER, have the victorious acted absolutely, purely, according to morals? None. War is hell. War inevitably compromises the warriors. It's about goddamned time we make it hell for the OTHER side. You win a war by making the OTHER poor dumb bastard suffer for his ideals...
