Good morning kids, As the rescue, recovery and repair efforts continue in flood-ravaged Texas, New Mexico now has been hit with severe flash-flooding and a state of emergency declared there. Prayers for all affected.

On a positive note, the Supreme Court handed President Trump another major victory

The Supreme Court on Tuesday overturned a lower court’s pause on President Trump’s efforts to downsize the federal government through mass firings at various agencies. . . “Because the Government is likely to succeed on its argument that the Executive Order and Memorandum are lawful — and because the other factors bearing on whether to grant a stay are satisfied — we grant the application,” the Supreme Court order stated. . . Meanwhile, Sotomayor noted that she agreed with Jackson that Trump “cannot restructure federal agencies in a manner inconsistent with congressional mandates,” but indicated its too early to determine if the administration plans to downsize the federal workforce in a manner that is unlawful.
“The plans themselves are not before this Court, at this stage, and we thus have no occasion to consider whether they can and will be carried out consistent with the constraints of law,” Sotomayor wrote, concurring with the majority. “I join the Court’s stay because it leaves the District Court free to consider those questions in the first instance.”

No, it's not the final word and if these two despicable thugs are still on the bench for the final ruling, it's no mystery that they will vote to preserve protect and defend the almighty State. But still, for now, it's a victory with a TBD as to whether it will be Pyrrhic. That said the utter lawlessness continues unabated as this next story shows:

If you thought the judicial coup against the Trump administration couldn’t get any more egregious than it already is, think again.
On Monday, District Judge Indira Talwani took it upon herself to try and unilaterally block a provision from legislation passed by Congress to defund Planned Parenthood. Through the use of a temporary restraining order, or TRO, the Obama appointee (and Democrat donor) declared that the Trump administration cannot enforce a provision of the recently passed reconciliation bill that prevents Medicaid funding from going to entities run by the nation’s largest abortion provider.

So, a law is legally passed in both chambers of Congress and is signed into law by the President of the United States, and some degenerate black-robed communist shit-whore wog just declares it null and void. And as I merely ponder the notion of ropes and lamp posts, this madness continues:

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported that a San Antonio City Council candidate called for the shooting of ICE agents on the streets of Los Angeles. The threat by the self-described Democrat political consultant comes as ICE agents are increasingly assaulted, and a Border Patrol station in Texas came under attack from a gunman.DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin posted on social media that San Antonio City Council Candidate Matthew Gauna called for the killing of ICE agents in Los Angeles. “I wanna see a few dead ICE agents Los Angeles! Don’t let me down.”

This comes on the direct violent assault on ICE agents and other LE agents elsewhere and for a mass attack in Alvarado TX. Now, what do you think is going to happen to this sick, filthy, evil Democrat , sorry for the quadruple redundancy there. No doubt he'll get elected. And San Antonio is not necessarily reflective of Texas, or how we would like to believe Texas is and will always remain. Or Heaven forbid not.

Democrat power in California rests on that mixture of cronyism, corruption and illegal aliens.
Indeed, California is a prime example of a state where political power is built around illegal aliens. Whether or not the illegals actually vote in any number matters less than whether they’re counted for ‘ghost’ districts filled with non-citizens. California’s millions of illegal aliens represent local, statewide and congressional seats that give the Democrats a total lock on power.
The state lost a congressional seat because its population only grew from 37.3 million to 39.5 million. How many congressional seats would California lose without its illegal alien population?
Subtract even the most liberal number of illegal aliens and California would lose 4 seats (in addition to the one it already lost) bringing its congressional delegation down to 48 seats. That would be bad news for efforts by the Democrats to retake the House, but it would also cut California’s power in the electoral college and would make it harder for the Dems to win presidential elections. That is why they’re willing to risk civil war for illegals.

Fun Fact: Google Earth provides street and sidewalk views of many locations!

Maybe it's because it's early and I'm mellow because the vodka is starting to kick in, but I don't necessarily think it's a deliberate effort. To me it seems that Hollywood is bereft of new and interesting material, so they are using old properties and putting different coats of paint on them to try and make them different enough to get people to theaters. The whole "gritty" thing with superhero movies, for example.

Hollywood is, end of the day, about money. It is very insular though because no one there talks to anyone outside of their bubbles, so they don't talk to Just Plain Folks to understand what will sell well. Prob why F1 is doing well - Apple is perhaps more in touch than traditional Hollywood.

1. DOGE identified a number of questionable programs in USAID - please note, DOGE didn't kill anything as they only have the power to inform.
2. The Trump Administration, presumably Rubio, killed off a number of the questionable programs identified.
3. Those programs deemed valuable, or specifically funded by Congress, were moved under directly State rather than the, theoretically, "autonomous" USAID.
4. USAID, now responsible for nothing, was formally shut down by Rubio.

As soon as Clark makes it to Metropolis, the movie just kind of loses me. It's the weird jumps in tone. It's Ned Beatty's performance. It's the random events. It's the basic questions of why Lois is in the desert to begin with.

San Francisco County went something like 80/15 Harris over Trump; Bexar County was something like 54/44 Harris over Trump. Republican appellate judges made some gains in Bexar County in 2024. Not all urban areas are alike. If the GOP continues to make inroads among Hispanics in Texas, Bexar might well get closer. I don't really have a lot of good to say about San Antonio, which an acquaintance once described as the nicest city in Mexico, but it's not especially like San Francisco.

The secret is that Donner had written himself into a corner on the second one, started filming the first one, and then just threw the second one's ending onto the first to wrap up events.

The Donner Cut of the second film ends the same way because he never found another way to end it before getting fired by the Salkinds and he had to rebuild what he could 20 years after the fact to make the cut.

324 The state passed an "affordable housing" law that needed local approval and in one of the wealthy blue towns near me they did so. In the past these laws just led to a little graft for connected people but this one was different.

The state used the law and local approval to seize the town's one fancy hotel, where they had all their big events, and turn it over to a developer that is turning it into tenements for "newcomers".

The locals are SHOCKED that the state/town would do this. Even though the state/town people said they were going to do this as part of this law.

It is almost comical.

Oh and they will vote all of these same people back in in the next election

I get the sentiment, but most places have some recurring weather hazard potential (floods, fires, tornados, hurricanes, earthquakes, rockslides or mudslides, avalanches, eruptions, tsunamis). Hazards that will over a long enough time materialize and kill people. Maybe this one area should be abandoned. But that case could be made for a lot of places, I'd think.

I know a lot of people don't like it appears Pam's not effective. Same with Kash.

However, before we toss too many slings and arrows at anyone in the Trump administration, we have to remember these people are not only under tremendous pressure to get their job done, they also live under the very real threat of assassination.

I know people are going to argue they should have known that going in. To which I reply, "Yes, and they joined the Trump cabinet anyway." These people are putting their lives on the line, daily, for little to no reward and plenty of criticism, just or unjust.

It's easy to snipe from the sidelines when it isn't your life and livelihood on the line. And make no mistake about it, their problems will not end once they leave the Trump administration.
