Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | O Say Can You ONT?Howdy folks! Welcome to the eve of the 4th of July! ![]() I Voted For This Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy Bans Rainbow Crosswalks Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy struck a blow at radical LGBTQ activism as “Pride Month” ended. Duffy sent a letter to all 50 state governors, the D.C. mayor, and Puerto Rico’s governor, a letter which he also shared with The Daily Signal. Trump’s transportation secretary told the governors to work on removing distractions, including woke political symbols, from roads and intersections. In the letter, Duffy wrote, “Roads are for safety, not political messages or artwork. Today I am calling on governors in every state to ensure that roadways, intersections, and crosswalks are kept free of distractions.” He added, “Far too many Americans die each year to [sic] traffic fatalities to take our eye off the ball.” He assured the governors that the Transportation Department “stands ready to help communities across the country make their roads safer and easier to navigate.” Just this June, a Rhode Island man was reportedly arrested for leaving skidmarks on a rainbow crosswalk. Hopefully, Duffy’s new guidance will help the man as his case moves forward.About time. Disgusting Pop Singer ‘Can’t Remember’ How Many Abortions She’s Had “The pattern would be: Unfortunately, get pregnant, like, not want to be, have an abortion, then while I was sedated in said abortion, they’d give me a coil,” Oliver recalled, noting that she “can’t quite remember” why she ultimately got the IUD removed each time.Nice to know that you don't need any justification for murder. Medical News You Can Use Man suffered horrifying side effects after injecting himself with own sperm to 'cure back pain' As doctor's examined him, they spotted that his arm was red and swollen and questioned the man about it. It was then that they learnt that his back pain wasn't actually new and that he'd been injecting himself with semen for the last 18 months as an apparent 'cure' for his ongoing pain without proper medical advice. According to ABC News, the unnamed individual had been using a hypodermic needle he'd bought online to inject himself and shortly before his hospital trip he'd administered three 'doses' at once. He proceeded to undergo an X-ray which found that he had subcutaneous emphysema and a collection of semen in his muscle. The man needed urgent antibacterial treatment as a result. Cleveland Clinic describes subcutaneous emphysema as 'a rare condition that happens when air gets trapped under your skin'.So, uh, don't do that. Musical Interlude Stay Away Dear New Yorkers: Texas Will Break You Hey New Yorkers. I heard you're probably going to get an outright communist as your mayor. Zohran Mamdani sounds like a real peach, and the fact that he won the Democrat Primary and is well on his way to the mayor's office has made many of you fire up your Zillow account and start looking for homes out of state. I don't blame you, but let me offer you some advice. You're probably going to be tempted to come to Texas because so many companies have moved here, and you feel like you could easily land a job. I could see why you'd think that, but let me tell you about Texas. You really don't want to move here. Texas is like Hell, only worse, because the living conditions here are so chaotic and difficult that the devil himself thinks it's a bit much. Let's start with the weather. People joke about how hot it is in Texas, but hot doesn't fully describe what happens here. Texas isn't just hot; the air is the essence of heat. When you walk outside, you have .02 seconds before you start sweating, even if you're in the shade. The humidity is so thick that you don't just walk through the heat, you swim through it. And that's during the fall. Can concur. Texas is horrible, you don't want any part of it. California, however, California is beautiful. Move there. Deep Dive On AI Costs Vs Benefits Bunk Costs So let’s put all of those points together: If you have a developer who can create $10m in value and you give him an AI he can create $20m in value in the same period, for a gain of +$10m. While they are rare by general population standards, $10m value developers are fairly common for competent people. If you give 20 of them a -4o class AI, the AI will have generated enough value to offset its training cost. Any additional $10m value developers who use the AI are over-unity, and the thousands of $1m value developers add to the pile on. We haven’t even touched any business case beyond making the very best programmers more productive and we’ve already demonstrated that the concerns – or perhaps concern trolls – about recouping the cost are full of nothing but wind. It's all Greek to me, but I know there are some of you who are into it. Depressed? Trip. Just one single dose of ‘magic mushrooms’ could relieve depression for 5 years, researchers find Psilocybin, the main psychoactive ingredient in magic mushrooms, could alleviate depression for at least five years after just one dose, according to a new study. The research, presented June 18 at the Psychedelic Science 2025 conference in Denver, followed up with patients who had been diagnosed with clinical depression — also known as major depressive disorder (MDD) — and had participated in a previous psilocybin treatment study in 2020. “Most people who participated in our trial reported improvements in depression symptom intensity or in the ways in which they experienced depression in their life, lasting up to five years after the trial,” study co-author Alan Davis, director of the Center for Psychedelic Drug Research and Education at The Ohio State University, told Fox News Digital.I've never taken 'shrooms, but I've always kinda wanted to try, just to see what it's like. The long dreaded July 1st 65c per gallon California gas tax increase failed to materialize. Turns out the actual tax increase was about 1.5c. The 65c number is apparently a long term worst case price increase scenario based on some low carbon credit trading scheme cooked up by the legislature. So I guess safe for now. What I don't like about TV western series is how clean everyone is. Clean shaven, too, all the time. Also, they make riding in a buckboard, wagon, or a coach seem like it's fun and pleasant. I guarantee after the first five miles of riding on a wagon you'll want to get out and walk the rest of the way. How the fuck is she just getting rid of the IUD and being like 'oh well no big deal if anything happens I'll just get a painful medical procedure and then get a new one for a while. It's like - and again moral issues way way way to the side - someone having a bunch of root canals and being like "oh yeah, after every one I brushed my teeth for a while and stopped chewing sugar cubes every day, but then I just sorta slacked off and whatever." It wouldn't surprise anyone that I've done shrooms, although less than a dozen times. They are very dose-dependent, whereas LSD has a major Russian-roulette factor. A small dose of shrooms (not a micro-dose, though I dunno what the quantities are these days) has a bit of pep to it, colors are brighter, you just feel kinda giddy, and you want to do things and explore your surroundings, think about the universe, etc. When you start doing more, you really start to get into your own head in a critical (but not necessarily bad) way. I very much see how it can be a tool in psychotherapy. You really open up. OTOH, I actually really don't care for music when I've done it. It's weird. I love music when I'm on THC. Oh, and you have no appetite on shrooms. That's probably a good thing; most people could use a day-long fast. Glad to hear Nurse enjoyed it on a hike.

179 The first time I tried shrooms, after I started tripping, I was sitting at a table where there were snacks and stuff. There was a big bag of puffy Cheetos and one of the Cheetos started crawling towards me and I smashed it with my fist. Then two other Cheetos crawled over to the smashed one and stood up, bowing over it as if in prayer. I looked at that and then looked up at one of my friends and said…. “Look, a Vietnamese family.”

The vet gave me a couple of alprazolam. The next year I didn't bother with the vet since I was taking alprazolam my self. I stuffed half a tablet down her gullet, and spent a relatively peaceful night. Unfortunately, though, I had inadvertently over dosed her. Most of the 5th, she was a zombie. I was kind of wondering how they got away with painting public streets. For traffic law and uniformity, states adopted standard federal rules on the nuances of road signs (such as height, visibility, clutter...etc.)
All this is documented in the "Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices and Street Signs." I know this, personally, because I ordered a personal copy (which is updated monthly) and I have used it to get out of at least 10 traffic violations (including speeding tickets, slow slide through stop signs etc). Simply put, how intersections are marked right down to the height of the sign and angle of to traffic light, location of cross walk, width/length and legality of the crosswalk etc. is mandated in the manual. Rainbow colored crosswalks are not part of the curriculum. In fact, they could be used to get you out of other violations if you're clever. Managed to get the tire beaded again, put in a new valve core, and aired it up. Dunked wheel in test tank. No leaks! Woo-hoo! Put wheel back on machine, finished mowing the ditch. They put two float switches on this system, and I think that was a Trane warranty requirement, going beyond code. Overflowing water in the attic is a disaster, of course, so I like it. You've got a float switch fitting right on the evaporator pan. It's in a little well fitting. If the water level in the evaporator catch pan gets high enough to trickle over, it will fill that little well and trip the float. That's supposed to shut it down and make you check it out before it gets too bad. Then there's a big secondary catch pan under the whole air handler with it's own float switch as a fail-safe. I like this set up. Posted by: publius, Rascally Mr. Miley (w6EFb) at July 03, 2025 11:30 PM (w6EFb) 266

Big bada boom, but strangest thing was that all the faucets then started to clog until I took out all the screens and cleaned piles off stuff out of them. Apparently the lightning got into the plumbing system and zapped loose all kinds of stuff.

Long backstory I won't go into, but my very experienced acid head friend score two tabs for a Grateful Dead cover band show on campus soph year. I decided to try it. 15 minutes in he says it's coming on really nice. I felt nothing. Waited a little longer. Nothing. Traded 2 minis of scotch for a dose of shrooms some guy was selling. Took them. Acid started kicking in. Shrooms started kicking in. Band started playing, starting with Scarlet Begonias. It was a great night. Woke up after about 7 hours sleep and felt great. It died the first year and my father bought a 33,000 BTU wall job, and since it was a ranch he put it in the side wall to where it just fired through the entire house. You could hang meat in the house with that thing. I grew up in arctic temperatures in the summer and its habit I still practice. My aerobic exercise last month was avoiding the gold diggers. I have a story to tell you about one of the four, but only at a MoMeet. Right now I have no gold diggers in my life. Whew. The story I can tell, is all four of the women had met my late wife, and I knew all of them for more than 10 years as coworkers or acquaintances. One of the four, the one I knew the least about, was telling me her friends were very protective, and it had been decades since she went out with someone. They had concerns. I told her to tell her friends that "I was a sailor and was just after her body." Mistake!! Ooopsie. She then told me she was a deaconess at her church. She does not communicate any more. Here’s my two cents: just because someone invented a code word, doesn’t mean he owns it. It has, by now, been loosed into the public domain. All we need is a word that is uncommon enough to be easily searched for to signify that a new thread has appeared on the blog. The problem with just stating “There is a new thread above,” or the like is that would be hard to search for, and thus easy to miss. We have just such a code word now, and have no need for neologisms. Other than the confusion in the Food Thread, or the like, when someone is talking about cooking some noodles, I don’t see the problem with going on as we have before. The proffered alternatives, it seems to me, will lead to confusion.

Posted by: Reforger at July 04, 2025 12:46 AM (SJnNf) Many newer vehicles have replaced the resistor block with an electronic controller. The fan speed switch simply sends a digital code to the controller, which adjusts the current flow to the fan motor. If you have to work under the dash for any length of time, take the seat out, and place some padding on the floor. An old foamy, or a comforter will make a huge difference. Skip it maintains earlier tax cuts, does a half-ass job on ending the "green energy" looting, and in effect pre-empts the use of the debt ceiling for the usual vandalism. In a way I still don't get (it's not an appropriations measure) it provides big resources for ICE/BP/border barrier work (though I think they'd better be careful about "vicious" apprehension of illegal farm labor, for which their boss said amnesty legislation might be forthcoming - the illegals I mean). Last I saw there was a pathetic 1% remittance tax (vs. 3.5%, itself pretty weak, in original version).

Rescissions are real. They effectively cancel appropriations. Not a refund exactly. And I don't think rescissions require anything other than their own stated process. Regular order is only achieved if approps bills follow the historically normal path of mark-ups, floor votes, and final passage. No external measure or policy can make it happen, AFAIK.
When I was up there regular order was the norm, CRs had terms of 5-10 days (always around Christmas), and never dealt with reconciliation or rescissions (which were rare). Reconciliation was mostly about what it was supposed to be about, because it wasn't effectively the only bill that would pass in a given year (privileged matter in the Senate). Of course the Dems weren't nearly as robotic and monolithic as today. Posted by: rhomboid at July 04, 2025 01:40 AM (1m82a) 460
