![]() ![]() Baby Conures Update: Good day fellow Pet Morons. That's a lot of great information. What a lot of work! Thanks for the update. Anybody feeling inspired to raise some baby birds of their own? Great mentor here. Chicks A and B are lookiing stronger. ![]() ![]() Hi KT, Here is the new puppy, my very own Doge, Saijo. He is settling in well, being pretty good with the kitties. Like most Shiba Inus, he is very smart and now that he realizes he has an actual home, he is letting his personality shine through. I think he will be glad to get the donut off soon, even if he is using it as a pillow. PiperSaijo looks like a great dog! ![]() ![]() The first picture was taken by the guy who delivered the dog food for my Golden Retriever, Whiskey. Thought it was cute that he got both "dogs" in the shot. Ordinarily Whiskey would be on the porch to greet the mailman and delivery people, but this was a stormy day, hence the sad puppy face. The next picture is a friend of Whiskey's who is a Treeing Tennessee Brindle dog. Actually hails from Tennessee but currently lives in the land that maps forgot. Quite the dapper little chick magnet in his sportscar, no?! Best Regards, IrishEiLove the information with these photos, and the great personalities reflected in them. Meet my son and daughter-in-law’s Potcake mutt Arthur. Year and a half old and is pretty good dog…aww, all dogs are pretty good, right? “Are you allowed on the couch??” ![]() ![]() We have one story left for next week. The kittehs have beat me down and defeated me in preventing them from using the chairs as scratching posts. Howdy, Pet People!
The model train vs. cat video was amazing. The cat was a handsome devil, but the model and detail work, including "rocks" on the track bed, were astonishing. You'd almost believe that a gigantic cat was sprawled on a commuter railway! What kind of sports car is that in the pic w/ Whiskey's friend? Something British, I suspect from the wood paneling (if it's real) on the instrument panel. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at July 05, 2025 03:43 PM (omVj0) 8

My furry thugs are doing well. Big black Stirling was upset, as usual, by the fireworks sounds last night and slid under the bed to hide, despite the "calming chews" (melatonin) treats we gave him. He's back to normal now and was sleeping with me during my afternoon nap.
Little Dagny La Siberienne has been playing enthusiastically with her wire Cat Dancer and the small green foil ball that used to be a Christmas decoration (or so I think). When I look back at her first pictures from Sept. of '22, I realize just how much she has filled out in body and coat. Stirling was pretty much what he is now, simply smaller -- and he had to grow into his big feet and ears -- but she has changed quite a bit. Posted by: nurse ratched at July 05, 2025 *** The noise here began about 7:30 pm, dusk, and were up to sharp bangs and cracks when I was heading off to sleep about 10:00. The odd thing is that, on his first Fourth at age four months, Stirling was not disturbed by the noise at all. It was not until his first New Year's Eve later that year that he turned nervous. It's possible it was because of the noise Dagny made that same evening within the crinkle tunnel toy I'd bought them. She loved it; he avoided it. Wolfus,
Are you plan ing to take the thugs on your road trip This fall? Posted by: nurse ratched at July 05, 2025 *** Nurse, not very likely. Not only would it be stressful for everybody concerned, it would limit the places I'd be able to stay. Rarely; he'd rather test his claws on the carpeting. I don't know why I care, since I consider my damage deposit long gone after twenty-some years living in this place, and have kept it in remarkably good condition despite having had seven cats, all but one fully clawed, in that time. I thought they were trying to chase they eagle away from their nest. I took some pictures. Later, when I zoomed in on one of the pics...it turns out that the eagle was holding a fish, and the gulls were trying to steal it. Posted by: BeckoningChasm at July 05, 2025 04:21 PM (CHHv1) 35

Am building a cat pen off the back of the house. The recent boom in "affordable housing" has chased coyotes and racoons into the neighborhoods. My cat got attacked and has been inside since he returned. He's a very compressed kitty over this. Depressed, compressed and stressed. I had to do something for him.
I took a two story scaffold and set it up off the back bathroom window and caged it in with garden fence. Soon he'll be able to come and go as he pleases. About 90% done but it's just too hot outside to work. Posted by: Reforger at July 05, 2025 04:35 PM (SJnNf) 45

My 5 month old beagle boy is driving my 2 y/o weimaraner crazy. It must be a male thing, the weim is not neutered yet because of his autoimmune problem, but he is making himself crazy following the beagle around in case he pees. He has to cover it immediately but he has peed on the beagle trying to do it before another dog can know the puppy is here. The pup is house trained but the weim is following him just in case. They play constantly and between that and following him around, they are exhausted, which is good.

I have a four-year old Shiba that's the younger sister of my son's. My vet cousin jokes that shibas aren't dogs, and like dingoes should be in their own category. We're #1! I recently tripped over this: Graph showing that Shibas have the most "wolf-like" DNA of well known domestic dog breeds https://tinyurl.com/3fwuvy5u They look like foxes but act like little wolves. They're a 7,000 year-old breed that are independent hunters of small game. It explains their wild fun personalities. They're true pack animals. My son's shiba is only 18 pounds but she's Alpha. Congratulations, Stateless. There are new responsibilities -- but the place is yours, and if you want to repaint a room or even just one wall, you can do that without getting anybody's permission.
Unless you live in a historic home in a historic district with a restrictive committee. The people who have bought properties in the French Quarter, for instance, are permitted to repaint only in colors that are accurate for the homes original time period. A good idea to follow that principle -- but I hate somebody telling me I *must* do that. (I hope to join the club of homeowners this year. No HOAs if I can help it!) Yay Pet Thread! Thanks, KT.
Too hot to take pup out on the 'toon today. She's full of P&V now that we're back home. Got my welder's glove on and giving her some aggressive lovin'. Posted by: olddog in mo at July 05, 2025 05:37 PM (VpKXM) 81
Cowboyneal - the Other Jewish Carpenter:
Both the car and the pup belong to JackStraw. I have never seen either in meatspace, just thought it was a great picture for the PT. Posted by: IrishEi at July 05, 2025 05:39 PM (3ImbR) 82
My son's shiba is only 18 pounds but she's Alpha. She takes no shit from no one.
Mines 33 pounds but comparatively mellow. She's a cuddle meister. Posted by: Ignoramus at Saijo is 24 pounds, I am thinking he will top out at 26ish. He cuddles, but he also has the Shiba bounce and his obedience training has been interesting. He gets it, he knows it, it just takes him a little longer to be consistent in it. Speaking of, we are going to the nature preserve now to get the zoomies out. 😂 Posted by: Piper at July 05, 2025 05:44 PM (QzINz) 83
59 Stateless, I have been following your saga and I'm thrilled at how far you've come. I cant wait to see your home's backyard and your dog and the cat that's not yours.
Posted by: Megthered at July 05, 2025 05:07 P Thank you so much. I never want any morons to go through horrible family crap like that but, sweet, if any of them go through that, i can be there. BY THE WAY, THE CAT LET ME SLEEP IN TODAY! Snowflake has been here 3 weeks. About 7am, she climbs into bed and reminds me about food. I had a tough week. Even the cat let me sleep for 4 more hours. That's hilarious. Posted by: Stateless BUT NOT HOMELESS! 90%- mental state clawing up from 10%, shit happened, clawing back now at July 05, 2025 05:44 PM (jvJvP) 84

They're actors. They need "motivation." Posted by: Ignoramus at July 05, 2025 05:47 PM (dtajH) 85
I have four kittens around me right now that I rescued outside (mother is basement, kittens are weaned. I'm really stressing because next week they are going to the shelter to be put up for adoption. I'm worried they won't be, or fail some tests and are killed, or go to unworthy irresponsible people ETC. Never done this before. We have too many cats ourselves now so can't manage any more and of course I love these babies. (one watching me type right now)

Jackstraw, your good taste in ragtop roadsters is only rivalled by your obvious great taste in music. My nic was bestowed on me by an old buddy after an 18-hour drive from NW Ohio to Saratoga Springs NY (in a blinding snowstorm the entire way) in my bright yellow '66 International Harvester Travelall (which he'd named Bertha, for obvious reasons). Brothers of Jerry, unite!
