Congratulations, Jaguar. You took your brand, which had been associated with prestige, achievement, and masculinity, and turned it into the Drag Queen Story Hour of automobiles.

The Daily Caller reports that desire for the once-desirable brand has collapsed.

Jaguar's sales in Europe have plunged dramatically, with only 49 vehicles registered in April 2025, a 97.5% drop from the 1,961 units sold in the same month the previous year.
Jaguar's European sales plummeted by 97.5% and year-to-date figures show a 75.1% decline in sales, with just 2,665 units sold from January to April 2025. Globally, Jaguar's performance dropped sharply from 180,833 units in 2018 to 26,862 units in FY24/25, holding a market share of just 0.1% in both Australia and the U.K.
These sales figures follow Jaguar's bold rebrand in November 2024, which departs from its traditional identity. The luxury automaker unveiled a new logo and advertising campaign that notably excluded depictions of cars, instead featuring androgynous models in vibrant attire, with slogans like "Copy Nothing" and "Live Vivid," positioning Jaguar as a modern, inclusive brand.
Critics slammed Jaguar's rebrand for straying too far from the brand's performance-focused roots, accusing it of pandering to a "woke" agenda.

So another woke corporation chases off its old "pale and male" customer base to replace them with... nobody.

Both decisions are indicative of a management that has been making decisions on a totally political basis, with no thought of economics or risk
I believe Jaguar is not only headed for Bankruptcy, but Liquidation.

Time for my fav Jag story. Worked with an attorney once in a rural area. He drove his Jag. Since it was rural, we had a lot of counties in our court district. Which meant lots of travel. So the cops in one county, which had court only once a month, would look up the court calendar and just wait for my colleague to come barreling out of the canyon into the valley in his Jag. They pulled him over on principle, just to mess with him. Usually they could ticket him since he had a lead foot.

He got rid of the Jag, finally. Too much in ticket costs!

57 Looked up a bit on Tata Motors out of India, which still owns Jaguar - they have already written off most of their investment in it. It seems like much depends on a new electric battery plant, subsidized by the British Government in Britain, to be ready in 2026.

But I suspect Tata is now getting ready to simply liquidate the entire Jaguar Brand. Just keep it as a dead nameplate, maybe to relaunch in a small way some day.

Others in the comments are saying they were bought by Tata motors, then decided to stop making ICE cars and focus on all electric cars, but unfortunately did not have many electric cars to sell, so basically they had zero inventory.

That makes more sense to me than nearly every jaguar fan collectively deciding to stop buying them due to a bizarre marketing campaign.

Jag generally positioned itself in the BMW 3/5 series and the Mercedes C/E classes. They stumbled pretty badly over the last 20ish years though imo and lost the rep it once had.

Plus, as pointed out upthread, their operations have turned to garbage. Design and engineering is lackluster at best imo. It doesn't really set trends. And that's assuming they can even get a car to market.

Shame. For a time they really had an "it" factor for me.

I remember doing a case study on different car companies while I was still in school -- if I recall, back then, Land Rover and Jaguar's were far and away the most leased cars on the planet. Something like 70% of cars "sold" were actually leased. Because the people that drive them know they're super unreliable and finicky and don't want to deal with a 4 year old Jaguar or LR that's falling apart.

Of course, LR and Jaguar knew that too, which is why those cars were so expensive to lease, the resale value at the end of the lease was pretty atrocious.

I know they have a repuation as lesbaru, but honestly here in the mountain west, they are a pretty good idea. 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive is almost a necessity in winter. And while most SUV's have that, not many sedans are anything other than front wheel drive. Subaru makes a decent sedan/small car with all wheel drive. For a whole lot less than the luxury cars that have all wheel drive.

So in fact there are lots of them on the road, mostly being driven by staid white dads.

Sure wish they would focus more on that niche instead of the hippy lesbian from Seattle.....

I know a lot of normal people who love their Subarus. Subaru seems to have fixed their head gasket issue, so that's good. But the WRX and STI very recently had rock knock and engine failures! There are also TCV failures causing overheating in late model Forester, Outback, and Crosstrek Subarus.

My wife had an Outback for awhile. It was a great car with the 6 cylinder. Was really great in the snow. And it worked well with dogs and small kids -- closest thing to a wagon out there. Only issue was it ate batteries. Went through 5 in 6 years, though always under warranty

Ironically, Jag was selling its own versions of the same cars. But customers preferred the styling and brand cache that Land Rover brought. I agree. It really has been something to behold.

There is such a tiny subset of the market that would be interested in Teslas. Namely, people who have fairly high incomes, don't drive very far, often have warm weather, have a place to charge the car, love tech gadgets and are not "car guys".

For the rest of the country, the range limitations are enough to say "eh, fuck it." Like yeah, I don't drive 400 miles every day, but I do like the ability to drive 400 miles without spending half the trip freaking out looking for a charger and worrying that my battery life is going to decrease due to the cold weather and I'll be stuck on the side of the road somewhere.

Same reason I drive a small SUV -- 90% of the time, I'd be fine driving a 2-seater Smart Car. But I don't want to have to rent a car that other 10% of the time that I need to move people or things around with me.

This is not to defend that God-awful ad campaign at all; what a stupid horror show of a "car" commercial. But that's not the entire reason for their lack of sales.

If I were a Jaguar dealer, I'd be suing them for breach of contract - Dealer agrees to sell cars, and assumes lots of fixed expenses related to such sales, in anticipation of Manufacturer sending them cars to sell. Manufacturer just stopping building cars for no valid reason is a breach.

Oh hell, I almost bought an old right hand drive Land Rover about 15 years ago. Problem was, parts availability scared me, it had been repainted brick red (ugh), and had a top speed of about 55-60mph, which would have been a problem on my 40 mile commute on Hwy 101 to Ventura.

I had a Subaru Forrester and it would walk over ice and snow like a boss. Loved that car. Boy spawn literally outgrew it so we traded up to a larger all wheel drive. Hubbymayhem kept driving the Subaru until it rolled down a hill. By rolled I mean top over bottom. He and the kids were fine except for a few scratches. Car was totalled but still started up and drove it to a different area for storage until a guy bought it for parts.
I will always want AWD in a vehicle. The Kia I drive now has it too.

I don't know what the wording is on the application, but if he demonstrably lied about something, then he be stripped of citizenship and deported.

However, if the phrase is "being sympathetic" that's hard to prove absent some kind of money changing hands or something along those lines, I would think.

The first Female Robot Chucky was nothing to write home about. And it's a darn shame because there's a really excellent movie or series in there about what happens when distracted adults turn childrearing over to a robot (a morality tale of sorts about all those small children you see on iPads).

I just noticed.
They also did the mixed punctuation for another reason - symmetry.

See how the j is an upside down copy in the r?
Then they capitalized the G to keep from having the g's descender go below the x-height and the rest of the logo. Somebody didn't like dangley bits.

It works that very well that way, purely from a design perspective.

Like when David Lean was crestfallen at the critical drubbing of Ryan's Daughter, so he invited all of the NY based critics to a round table.

Nearly all TV commercials are like that. It's usually not "buy our beer, it's readily available, has an ABV of [x], tastes like [y], is low in calories and is very reasonably priced!"

It's hot chicks and emotions and ultimately says nothing about the product.

Same with truck commercials, except they often include EXTREME OFF ROADING and american flags.

Which I guess seems to work, but it gets boring.

I don't have cable either, but I watch YouTube and occasionally streaming services, so the ads are presumably a bit tailored.

I do see a lot of interracial couples in ads, but most of my ads are as described. Like Post Malone and Shane Gillis sitting in lawn chairs opening cans of Bud Light.

That Lotus was nice; I liked the Aston Martin V8 Volante that Timothy Dalton drove in Living Daylights. One of my favorite things about the earlier Bond movies, going all the way back to Connery was the cars. Even the ones that Q branch didn' t modify, they were always nice to look at.
Well, at least until we got to the Daniel Craig movies where he murdered that tradition riding b*tch on a Vespa.

My guess is Tata Motors did what Stellantis did and got rid of all the engineers at Jaguar who knew what they were doing and replaced them with cheap labor people in India who are incompetent, clueless and lazy.

That is exactly what happened after the FCA-PSA merger to form Stellantis. The new management completely destroyed North America operations by pushing out 50%+ of local engineers and management and replaced them with cheap labor "engineers" in Mexico, India (where average IQ is 76) and people from India living in Canada. They also ended a lot of popular products and put in place the plan to move to 50% EV by 2030.

As a result, Stellantis North America operations and culture are now garbage.

419 One thing missing from this is that I think Jaguar isn't currently building cars.
They've stopped for 2 years in order to really focus on being unprofitable and retooling a new factory or some bullshit. So I think these are last years cars being sold.

As an old JAAAAaaaggg fan, who has owned a MkII since I took the money from my first job and bought it from a dodgy Dutchman in an old warehouse without telling my parents, it breaks my heart to see what people who really don't care about the marque have done.

They should stop their nonsense and just put out the C-x75 that they inexplicably never built and maybe a more affordable E-type recreation. That's what customers actually want.
