Unintended Consequences Dept.: Recently the state finished and opened a toll bridge (replacing a 1960s tunnel) to a suburban town. People who live down there never asked for a bridge, let alone a toll. For them it's only .25 each way, but for non-residents it's over a dollar, and if you're towing a boat it's more. A local restaurant owner, finding his business from that parish is way down, is offering to take the toll amount off your bill.
There's an alternate, non-toll and non-bridge route to get to the suburb. I've known about it for years (though I rarely have reason to go down there), and I'm sure the locals down there do too. Now it's going to be jammed with cars and trucks. Thanks, Lousy-ana. 30 Rapper at Glastonbury music festival leads chant of " death to the IDF".
Posted by: Ben Had at June 30, 2025 05:26 AM (HFcKg) I watched a Sargon of Akkad episode on YouTube yesterday about this. The name of the punk-rap duo is “Bob Vylan”. They also sang a song in their set that was about “You’re not taking your country back” aimed at Brits who, like Tommy Robinson, are fed up with immigration. The singer also led the crowd on chants of “Death to the IDF” and said “From the River to the Sea will happen” while the vastly white, middle class, audience repeated everything he said back to him. People are not pleased that the BBC aired this group live around the country. I listened to a little of the music and their rap + punk sounds just about as horrible as you’d imagine.
