63 This painting really resonates with me. There's a family picture of my GGF and GF (aged about 12) after they came over from Sweden. They're clustered around a piano, with my GF holding a violin. I'd guess it's about 1910.

It strongly reminds me of this painting.

69 Anker has a wonderful talent for conveying context and emotion is his portraits. In this case the old man (grandfather, teacher?) watching as a new generation learns from him. The smaller child gazing at the sister, perhaps wondering if they will ever be able to play like that. The quiet confidence of the girl as she demonstrates what she has learned. The expressions are real but subtle in a way that makes the viewer pay attention. I like the way the dark background makes the figures and instrument almost pop off the canvas. I don't know what the title means but I'm not sure it matters. The scene is complete in itself without context.

CBD has used several paintings by Anker and they are all delightful. His still life paintings are wonderful. Sadly, I can't find any books of his art.

The chlorine content of CFCs is what was blamed for the Ozone hole. Notice there is a sodium layer in the atmosphere. The sodium layer comes from the disassociation of salt (sodium – chloride) from the oceans – which of course leaves Chlorine. You can easily smell the salt in the water vapor near the ocean. The featured art is a beautifully detailed, realistic painting. (IDK how one accomplishes that when children are featured. A lot of sketching before painting?) He had his daughter as the model in several of his works.

His body of work was large and included numerous oil paintings, watercolors, drawings, and decorated plates.

Would consider hanging in rotational art. Thanks.

Anyway, this guy got away with a zillion simoleons. We trailed him to a little dive down on Yukster Street. We went in. Only he got the drop on us, literally. Dropped a piano on us from fifteen stories. Broke my arm, Teddy never made it. I never did find out who that guy was. All I remember was him standing over me laughing, with those burning red eyes, and that high, squeaky voice...

Since spun off from Reynolds Nabisco, Del Monte has went through a series of owners each larding up the company with more debt.

In general, it is a poor idea to use debt to acquire companies in a commodity industry figuring on wringing out more efficiencies. Leverage works when a company is growing, not so much when the industry is declining.
