General "Razin'" Caine: The Massive Ordnance Penetrators Worked Exactly as Designed, and Obliterated Their Targets
CNN's Analyst: I'm Convinced, the Centrifuges Are All Destroyed

CNN hardest hit.

The Pentagon on Thursday released footage of 30,000-pound bunker-buster bombs designed to destroy fortified underground targets like Iran's Fordow site. Gen. Dan Caine said all six bombs "went exactly where they were intended," pushing back on claims the sites weren't damaged.

Key Details:

The footage shows a Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP) plunging into a target and igniting a fireball through a shaft--highlighting the bomb's ability to penetrate before detonating.

Gen. Dan Caine told reporters, "Unlike a normal surface bomb, you won't see an impact crater because they're designed to deeply bury and then function."

Caine added the strikes on Iran's Fordow enrichment facility were precise: "All six weapons at each vent... went exactly where they were intended to go."

Diving Deeper:

The Pentagon on Thursday released dramatic footage illustrating the destructive power of America's most advanced bunker-busting weaponry--just days after questions emerged about the effectiveness of strikes on Iran's nuclear infrastructure.

The video showcases the GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP), a 30,000-pound bomb specifically engineered to burrow into heavily reinforced underground targets before detonating. One clip shows the bomb piercing a target and triggering a bright inferno shooting through a vertical shaft--highlighting its underground impact rather than surface-level destruction.

"Unlike a normal surface bomb, you won't see an impact crater because they're designed to deeply bury and then function," said Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Lt. Gen. Dan Caine during Thursday's briefing at the Pentagon.

Caine confirmed that the U.S. deployed six bunker-busters per vent at Iran's Fordow uranium enrichment facility and emphasized that "all six weapons... went exactly where they were intended to go." The statement appears to directly contradict anonymous claims cited by CNN earlier in the week, which suggested that U.S. strikes had failed to damage nuclear targets.

...

"A bomb has three effects that cause damage: blast, fragmentation, and overpressure," Caine explained. "In this case, the primary kill mechanisms... were a mix of overpressure and blast." He concluded with a warning: "Imagine what this looks like six times over."

Meanwhile, Iran's Supreme Leader emerges from his bunker to declare victory over the US and Israel.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran's aging theocratic ruler, emerged from hiding Thursday to make his first public remarks since hostilities erupted between Israel and Iran earlier this month. Appearing via video on state-run television, Khamenei painted a picture of Iranian triumph and American failure, using characteristically fiery rhetoric to assert dominance in the aftermath of a fragile ceasefire.

"The Islamic Republic was victorious and, in retaliation, delivered a hand slap to America's face," Khamenei declared, referencing Iran's symbolic missile strike on the Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar on Monday. Though the attack resulted in no casualties or structural damage, Khamenei used it to posture strength, warning, "Such an action can be repeated in the future too. Should any aggression occur, the enemy will definitely pay a heavy price."

Khamenei has remained out of sight since June 13, when Israel initiated a targeted campaign against Iran's nuclear facilities and top-level military figures. Following a retaliatory strike by U.S. forces on June 22 -- involving the use of seven stealth bombers and over a dozen bunker-busting bombs -- speculation swirled over the regime's internal chaos. Khamenei's reappearance on Thursday appeared aimed at dispelling doubts about Iran's control and resolve.

He dismissed America's involvement as ineffective, saying the United States "achieved no gains from this war." According to Khamenei, the U.S. only intervened after realizing the "Zionist regime would be utterly destroyed" without assistance.

CNN immediately offered the Ayatollah a $1.5 million per year contract to serve as their international affairs correspondent.

8 So, if the centrifuges are destroyed but the uranium was preserved, it's at 60% and can't go higher without finding new centrifuges or building them. Fordow took 11 years to build.

That's years back.

If the uranium was also destroyed or made inaccessible, they have literally nothing except the intelligence to start again. But Israel definitely hit some of the scientists in the first couple of days of their bombing.

Seems big.

I find it amusing, for years we've all been saying "You can't go by what Trump says, you can only go by what he does."

And then with this we all... myself included, got all up into what Trump was saying.

It's possible... just possible, what Trump DID here was stop a war from happening, one that he didn't want, even though plenty of people in his administration (and in the other two nations involved) did want.

So, whether it was brilliant maneuvering, or sheer luck, Trump seems to have stopped a war not long after it started.

Which I happen to think is a great thing. Even if others disagree.

Yeah, we can see from the photographs that the MOPs didn't create craters. They didn't blow material into the air leaving an indention in the ground.

They left precise holes on the surface and blew 100m+ below the surface. That wasn't strong enough to move the 100m+ of stone and rock and dirt above it into the air, however, in the moment of explosion, the material should have been closer to a liquid than a solid which would have let another MOP, delivered a few milliseconds later, to pass through more easily.

I think Egypt uses the money to buy weapons from us too. And I'm sure a nice fat slab of the billions sent to Uke found its way back into American hands, if the money ever left.

I think the money sent to Israel and Egypt is money well spent. It's part of the Camp David accords, and it helps buy peace. $4B a year is pig's spit compared to what we really waste each year.

The money sent to Uke was a complete waste of fucking money. Might as well have used the money to wipe our asses; woulda got more use out of it that way.

The War on Iraq went well. It was the nation building that was a disaster, primarily because the administration at the time was never ready to admit that installing "democracy" in a society like that was a fool's errand. At the very least we should have given the Kurds their own country, but I think we didn't for fear that would make the Shiites too strong in what was left, and the Saudi's didn't want that.

Now, you can say the person who caught it was prepared, through all kinds of skill and effort, to be in that position, but yeah, luck had a lot to do with it.

Or, suppose someone sets up a shooter to blow your head off, and you happen to tilt your head at just the right moment, and the bullet just grazes your ear instead.

That's luck. Or Grace of God, if you believe in that sort of thing, but hardly what the guy with his head still on his shoulders planned and executed flawlessly.

It's time sensitive, so what ever they decide, it will happen shortly. The Iranian economy was a disaster before Israel came in and started banging things around. The infrastructure is horrendous. 1/3 of the nation had unreliable electricity prior to Israel knocking it out entirely. Inflation is currently approaching 40%, and they are going to have to rebuild by printing money, which will increase it significantly. Yes and no. The 'President' of the Senate makes the ruling and then any senator can appeal the chair. Ultimately it means that majority rules. Something similar regarding the nuclear option.

There is also a way under Senate rules, that you simply exhaust all the speaking time. Usually takes weeks but it can be done without touching filibuster rules. Basically every senator has the right to speak on the legislation but once they sit down and thus yield the floor, they can no longer rise up to speak again on that particular bill. Eventually, after all senators got a chance for 'unlimited' speaking on the bill, the vote takes place. Ties up the whole senate but it can force through legislation if necessary.

6 B-2's were assigned to Fordow. Each with 2 MOP's.

In some photos of Fordow after the strikes you can see 2 sets of 3 "holes" where the GBU-57's were aimed. 2 per vent = 12 MOP's total used on Fordow.

IIRC the first one pretty much blew the "doors open" and the follow on MOP's likely dropped as far down the air shafts as possible before detonating.

Now he can have his cake and eat it too… destroyed nuke capability and no he didn’t start a war. Wizardry

Nothing about the timing between each bomb going below the surface, timing of each bomb's detonation, nor predicted and actual depth of bomb penetration before detonating, individually and total. Nothing about damage assessment means. This is all good.

I learned only thing from his briefing I would take to the bank. The bomb-maneuvering grid fins on the bomb in the test video rapidly folded back along the side of the bomb, before aft section of the bomb went below the surface. I paid a minimum of $200 extra each month, and as I could I made a double payment, or more. I got lucky in a way for some windfalls to pay it off in the end, but they would not have paid off my 30 year in 12 years if I hadn't started off plopping extra cash into the payment every month.

A lot of people think this approach is stupid, but to be honest I don't care. I own the house now, people who pay off a 30 year mortgage in 30 years may never get to the end.

Most if not all. They are all money-grubbing whores, even the rich ones. The few that aren't getting paid are instead using their expression of opinions that are very popular in their industry as "pick me" PR.

The ones that have different opinions and express them usually get crucified and their careers suffer. Jessica Alba was once asked, when she was up-and-coming, something to the effect "how does it feel as a Mexican actress?" She said that she was very mixed race and didn't feel "Mexican." She was instantly slammed and shamed. She immediately saw the writing on the wall, and changed her tune.

I am aware that you have a toothache and hate yourself and feel remorse over letting you puppy out into the street when you were six, but the point is that every extra dollar you put on your mortgage payment goes against THE PRINCIPLE debt and reduces your interest going forward and in fact reduces the amount that you will pay in total for repayment of your loan. It is actually worth scrimping a bit for future gains.
If this is too low time preference for you, then go on being in debt and hope that you can meet each month's payment obligation for what may be the rest of your working life.

The fact that you think it is stupid tells me far more about you and your values than it does about the wisdom of my approach which led me to scrip, save and pay off a 30 year loan in 12 years. Do better than that and I will care what you think.
This advice was not for you, by the way, but thank you for trying to be part of the conversation.

anything works, a buck here and there, strip your pockets of change every night, half the winnings from a scratch off, beans and rice once a week, anything helps, even if it is 20 bucks a month.

If it helps, I hate debt. I hated taking a mortgage, but it was the only way I could get a house. No one can buy a house on what they have on hand. The nicest thing about paying off the house is all that money that went to the mortgage company goes to me, instead. And I can make it work for me.

We had one in the apt I shared with a roommate, with a built in love seat and wood-burning fireplace. A lotta fun times spent there. 1977. Yes, I am old. Yes I lived during super fun times and great music.

455 Hegseth laid a pretty good smackdown on the media this morning.

10 Hi Ace

Hegseth was amazing. Having an actual war fighter defending the war fighters was a breath of fresh air. He is also very nice to look at which in my opinion makes it doubly fun to watch.
Posted by: sharon

Agreed. Great presentation and he smacked down the media bigly. Did you notice not one question from the press in the room about the media leaks which is a big story. They protect their own.
