Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | The Morning Report — 6/ 25 /25![]() Supreme Leader Khamenei insisted publicly that “Iran will never surrender to the enemies of Islam.” But the regime’s behavior contradicts this. And after Donald Trumps announcement there has been no IRGC press conference, no new vow of revenge. Messaging platforms long used to broadcast defiance have gone silent. Leaks suggest younger commanders within the Guard are urging a strategic pause—not out of diplomacy, but survival instinct. Even China and Russia, both traditional allies, have issued only neutral statements. There is no formal capitulation. But Iran’s actions—warning enemies of a missile strike, initiating the ceasefire, ceasing retaliation—amount to a modern, informal surrender. This was not peace. It was exhaustion. Iran has not been conquered. But it has been contained, weakened, and temporarily silenced.Indeed the word "temporarily" is the key, and it's not Iran the nation state, it's Islam that has been on the march in the Middle East and across the world for 1500 years, whether at the Gates of Vienna, or with the collapse of the Ottoman Empire post the Treaty of Versailles or after getting its ass kicked by Israel in several major wars and other military operations after the October '73 humiliation. But the nightmares of 9/11/01 here, 2004 in Madrid 2005 in London and the butchery and slaughter of Al Qaeda, Boko Haram, Abu Sayyaf, Isis and every other Islamic terror group will no doubt continue regardless of what the polticial/governmental future of Iran as a nation state holds. Please God may it be non-Islamic for the sake of the Iranian people and indeed the region and the world, but if past is prologue, I'm not holding my breath. So, Iran's nuclear weapons capability has been neutralized and perhaps at long last the Mullahs heads might be on the chopping block and the doors have been blown off of Evin Prison. And despite that, or perhaps because of that, we have this tory: Not the mass murder of Israelis that took place in the past, at the Nova Music Festival that was held in Israel on October 7, 2023, but a mass murder planned for the future, at the Boom Music Festival to be held in Portugal this July. Antisemites, encouraged by the hatred that has been heaped on Israel by so much of the world, with so many people both so ill-informed and so malevolent, have apparently been planning to do all kinds of terrible things to the 4,000 Israelis expected to attend this year’s festival. Perhaps the sudden revelation about the planning of that massacre will prevent it, if Portuguese authorities wake up from their stupor, from being attempted. And did you catch this item the other day? Fourteen arrested after nearly 150 people report being jabbed with needles at French music festival As my good friend and friend of the blog Michael Walsh states: So the ongoing conflict in Iran should only end one way: with the destruction of the mullahs, the disestablishment of Islam, the eradication of Iran's nuclear capabilities, a stern warning backed up by force if necessary to other nuclear powers not to ship any nuclear bombs or other material to a fundamentalist Iran and the neutralization of the well at Jamkaran to end Shia Islam's belief in the resurrection of the hidden Twelfth Imam. The Jews have survived the destruction of the Second Temple and Christians the loss of Constantinople and the Church of Holy Wisdom (the Hagia Sophia, now a mosque), without any loss of belief; Islam ought to have the opportunity to do the same. The president's announcement late this afternoon that a cease-fire between Israel and Iran has been reached is, therefore, disappointing absent the collapse of the mullahs. . ."Fuckin' A Bubba" to quote Gus Grissom from The Right Stuff, but what of the other 1.5 billion Muslims, both Shia and Sunni all over the world? Unless and until they have a, shall we say "Come to Jesus moment" about their beliefs vis a vis their imagined destiny of global conquest and supremacy, we shall surely see Notre Dame (underscored by CBD's eloquent essay) and Westminster Abbey if not the Vatican itself transformed into mosques just like Hagia Sophia in the next 20 to 50 years. Whether via the sword or the maternity ward. On a completely different note, there goes New York City. Yes, I am well aware there are many here who could care less, and even I as a NYC native just shake my head in abject disgust and disappointment. And while this is only the Democrat Primary, the fact that as Daniel Greenfield suspects, and probably rightly so, the Tammany Hall machine still rigged it for one of the most outrageously maniac leftist candidates imaginable. And this in a city that suffered through two terms of Bill DeBolshevik, on top of a city council that is perpetually to the left of the Shining Path and Vietcong. So given all of that, you can easily calculate the odds of Curtis Sliwa or whoever the GOP candidate may be in winning the general. Regardless of one's prejudices against the city and indeed any blue city in America, that we have lost them for generations and some unforeseen cultural sea change notwithstanding, likely forever, is still a tragedy and an infamnia. Leftist madness might not be confined to big blue cities. Over time, it spreads everywhere and one day, those who sleep comfortably in solid red states and districts might wake up to find their neighborhoods and towns fundamentally transformed, to coin a phrase. Apropos of NYC, as Travis Bickle said in Taxi Driver "Someday a real rain will come and wash all this scum off the streets." And out of City Hall. everywhere else Leftists are in control, the media. and most especially the schools. The weird thing is, as far as I can tell from reading about it, that the authorities can’t determine if the people, mostly women and girls, were injected with anything. Some of them went to the hospital but it’s never made clear if they were sickened or unconscious or what. If we could see mugshots of the people arrested it might clear things up. It certainly has all the hallmarks of a terrorist act. When anti-nuclear activists go into the streets to protest for Iran’s nukes, they reveal that none of their hysteria about nukes was serious or sincere. It was only a trick to dismantle our defenses and aid our enemies. The same ‘anti-proliferation’ organizations that acted to advance the USSR’s agendas now plot to aid the nuclear arsenal of an Islamic terror state.

That’s because democracy always eventually turns into a totally indebted mobocracy followed by tyranny.
"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship." - Alexander Fraser Tyler (disputed) There’s some truth to that. Indeed. In fact, why put an end to a war that you've practically won? Especially if we don't really know how far back the nuclear program has been pushed. WELL, MAYBE it's just that if the mullahs have to go, that it's bad optics to make that happen by Israel and/or America assassinating the regime. MAYBE there are ways to get the Iranian people to finish the job - which is the right way to go. MAYBE it's just good optics for Trump to explicitly say he's not interested in regime change. MAYBE. Once Disneyland Paris figured out the bride was 9 years old they cancelled the thing, the actor ‘best man’ called the cops, and they arrested him, the groom the brides mother and the bride’s sister, who I believe was the maid of honor. The ‘groom’ paid $150,000 to rent Disneyland for the wedding. I can't see any downside to Mamdani winning (unless you're unfortunate enough to live in NYC). I see 3 possible outcomes-
1- he wins in November, implements his promises, and the city completely fails, becoming an easy example of the failures of far Leftism in future elections and social commentary 2- moderate dems, Republicans and independents panic, rally together around an Independent candidate in the General (maybe Adams?), push him over the finish line, and Leftists melt down and riot at being backstabbed by the Dem Establishment 3- Mamdani doesn't implement his extreme policies, knowing they'll fail, disappointing the Far Left, and he eventually gets marked as a sellout corrupted by money/power/the Establishment. All are hilarious and may result in great campaign ad fodder for the 2026 midterms and 2028. Posted by: Moron Analyst at June 25, 2025 07:56 AM (ycI94) 74

That’s because democracy always eventually turns into a totally indebted mobocracy
"The simpleminded electorate were visited every few years by rival politicians, who, in the desire to secure election, were accustomed to make the wildest promises involving increased public expenditure in the constituency and the satisfaction of all the cherished desires of the inhabitants. The latter, as was not unnatural, chose the candidate who promised them the most... The country was thus exposed to the evils of paternalism in its most extreme form. The people, instead of being trained to independence and self reliance, became increasingly dependent on those who were placed in authority; instead of being trained to think in terms of the national interest, they were encouraged to think only of the interests of their own district. Even within a district, or a church denomination, there was no public spirit; in the struggle to secure a decent living, the average man sought only his personal advantage. The Government was looked upon as the universal provider, and it was thought to be the duty of the Member for the constituency to see that there was an ever increasing flow of public money." Regarding Iran specifically, and the Muslim world at large.
First, regime change was ALWAYS going to have to come from the Iranians themselves, neither Israel nor the US have the ability, let alone the desire, to try to compel some 70 odd million people to create some form of government absent a massive land war and violent occupation for decades. Bombing itself, even massively destructive bombings such as we did in Iraq including no fly zones, etc. against Saddam had little effect on his hold on internal power. And, inevitably the international consensus on containing him was breaking down. Iran is no different with its mullahs, IRGC, and internal secret police. Regime change is simply not in the cards for Iran without the Persian people themselves rising up to get rid of the detestable regime. All Israel and US can do is limit the spillage and reach of that regime until the people in Iran themselves choose sanity over endless war with the outside world. The same is true of the Muslim world itself. We face the same problem that provoked George Kennan to write his Long Telegram to the State Dept. The West has to contain Islam until it collapses itself. Posted by: whig at June 25, 2025 08:10 AM (ctrM5) 115

Israel only cares about the existential threat posed by Iran, the nuke program, the proxies it was feeding , training, and supplying the weapons that surround Israel, the ballistic missiles program (thanks to North Korea - another "beauty" as Trump says). 110 Do we know who, specifically, said the Iran program was only set back a few months?
====== It came reportedly from a low confidence BDA by a specific DIA (Defense Intelligence Agency) analyst. We know not what the actual data was employed to make that assertion and the low confidence label could mean that it came from open source aka news in Iran, confidential sources like diplomats or informants, technical means like satellites, etc, signal intercepts, and so on. A lonely analyst report 'leaked' usually means that someone is simply playing games just like the alleged Pee Tapes involving DJT and Russian Hookers. That being said, it could be true, it could be false, and undoubtedly the Iranian mullahs will try to resume these activities, even at a low level, if they can. Germany, even under the Weimar government sought to evade Treaty of Versailles limits on their forces because they looked forward to a time to recreate their armies. France and the UK looked the other way because neither country wanted to resume hostilities over what they saw as minor breaches of the Treaty. So, Iran trying to rebuild its program is simply another Iraq situation from 91-02. Posted by: whig at June 25, 2025 08:19 AM (ctrM5) 143
Yes you can restart them. Grok what happens ? "Restarting centrifuges is complex, requiring precise recalibration and vacuum reestablishment, leading to significant downtime and cost." And that is just cutting power. If you drop a few 30,000lb bombs on them...downtime expands tremendously !

Trying to put myself in the mind of the Iranian mullahs, I would have to see the ceasefire as welcome. It stops Israel's devastating whittling down of their munitions and leadership ranks and buys them time to begin a rebuild. I'm surprised Trump was surprised that Israel would react the way they did. I was hoping he'd let them finish the job and only then sue for peace.

Does this retard think that in short order he will be able to hire, compensate and retain top talent merchandisers, contract negotiators, supply-chain specialists, warehouse and distribution center strategists, get them all oriented to government work place rules, organized and out-do the established consolidated players in the industry who have decades of experience stream-lining things? The owner of WABC Radio, John Catsimatidis, has threatened to close his Gristedes supermarket chain if Mamdani wins. His third-rate RW station will have plenty of copy to gripe about if Momdani is elected. When anyone calls a Democrat a Socialist, that tells me he/she is fighting for the people. What happened to the maxim that it takes a moderate to win? Maybe the DNC is out of touch with the American people? Democrats forced Al Franken out of the Senate because of a misguided prank, Cuomo? They made Jasmine Crockett its last choice out of 4 people to be ranking member of the Oversight committee, recommending Garcia, who originally was a Republican. 40 years ago, Mamdani’s policies would be considered moderate. That’s how far to the right the GOP and corporate media has pushed this country. Mamdani needs to cool it about going after Wall Street. businesses and employment and capital investment will leave, and that will be very bad for Democrats. reading this board the last 12 hours is like reading a Far Left version of "own the libs" rationale. 128 Iran moved all of its nuclear materials beforehand and can totally build a nuke in a few months, so the raid was a failure.
I believe the argument is that they moved the uranium... away from the site that the "experts" claimed was impregnable, but it's still short of the concentration required for the Earth shattering kaboom and the equipment to concentrate is wasn't moved. Hence, I assume, the argument that it's just a delay although it would seem like it would be a sizeable one. Posted by: I used to have a different nic From what I've read, Israel intel warned the US that the enriched uranium (not the centrifuges, etc.) was moved to another site. Think it was Ishafan and not Natanz. The original US plan only included bombing Fordow but because of Israeli intel, the US also attacked both Natanz and Ishafan with Tomahawk missiles to take out the new enriched uranium locations. It is clear that Israel has totally penetrated the Iranian nuclear program and its government itself with spies so the information probably was very credible. But as in all things, we shall see how accurate it was. Posted by: whig at June 25, 2025 08:23 AM (ctrM5) 166

A lot of people here likely know this, but for the uninitiated...
Mere possession of a clearance does not mean one has access to everything marked with that level of clearance. Need To Know is required. In other words, a TS or SCI will not have the full picture. He will only see a bit. Example I use is that a TS may only have visibility on a hospital being bombed, but higher clearances will also know that said hospital was in reality a weapons depot. The first sees an atrocity, the second sees a valid action. Unless these leakers are in the inner circle with access to everything (which I doubt...) they don't have access to everything. They may only be tasked with assessing damage to a limited subset of Iranian food carts outside of the former locations of the targets. Posted by: WitchDoktor at June 25, 2025 08:24 AM (jBB4+) 173

I remember when Austin was upgrading their water pipeline that routed along the border with Williamson County (McNeil Rd). Somewhere near the intersection of Parmer Rd, the tunneling crews, operating in limestone country, hit a cave. The 14" pipe tunnel cutter had to be replaced with an 18" pipe tunnel cutter so that to complete the task the crews could encase the pipe and protect the freshly discovered cave. The thing is, 18" pipe tunnel cutters don't abound and sit around waiting to be used, they are scheduled for months or years in advance. So the road sat all torn up for nearly a year waiting for the equipment to come in. I'm supposed to believe out in the middle of no where specialized equipment is sitting on a warehouse shelf just waiting for this specific opportunity to arise and be used. Hire these engineers and managers away from Iran Now! They can pull miracles in construction and would be worth their weight in gold anywhere else on planet Earth. Islam already had its reformation.
It was reformed from a flabby, disjointed, self indulgent bauble for pashas and emirs, rousing just enough rabble to keep the social order chugging along, into a global revolutionary death cult. What we do not know is whether Iran has a stockpile of such machinery off site that can be installed quickly or whether the previously enriched uranium (a bit less than 100 lbs or so) was effectively destroyed and dispersed in the US attacks on alternative nuke sites--Ishafan and Natanz.
Posted by: whig at June 25, 2025 08:27 AM (ctrM5) Israeli sources have quietly said that yes, they were able to track where the enriched uranium went, and that currently it is buried under the rubble of some other destroyed buildings that they prefer not to name. Posted by: Ordinary Amerian ======= Trump made it clear that he was not interested in regime change in Iran via bombing. Israel may be but if finishing the job means using bombing to bring it about, that has been tried by the US in the past in Iraq, a smaller country, and failed even with direct occupation. The Persians themselves have to have the internal gumption to get rid of the mullahs and what comes after that, no one really knows with any sort of authority. Libya and Syria are perfect examples of that after the dictator falls. Besides, testimony indicates that the US Navy was running out of anti missiles and my guess is that Israel itself worried about that as well which is the curse of advanced weaponry. "SCOTUS Justice Takes Bold Stand Against The Constitution"
KBJ's dissent is a window into what will happen if five Democrat-nominated Justices are on the Supreme Court. Using cases initiated in Cali and other Blue states, the five would eventually rule that their un-liked parts of the Constitution are un-Constitutional. Using a twisted meaning the 14th Amendment and whatever else they can usefully twist. Stare decisis? Bam - gone in new cases, as needed. Yesterday KBJ decried textualism. In a future with five hard-left Justices, textualism will be used to gut the 2nd Amendment and other pieces of the Constitution, as they wish. Posted by: Gref at June 25, 2025 08:58 AM (aBgBM) 301

The story in the Koran says that Muhammed asked one of his friends to follow him into the desert one night. When they got a specific location he asked the friend to sit in one are and do not move or else bad things would happen to him. Then Muhammed went a little further, but where his friend could see, and the men of al-Zutt came out to meet him. And it actually says they rode him all night long and "injured him" and wore him out. Riding in this context is used in the same sense as in English, so either Muhammed carried random men on his shoulders all night long and was injured doing so or he had a Provincetown dogpile and they got a little too rough...the former just doesn't make any sense does it? yeah well SE PA is overrun with new New Yorkers after the covid mess - and it sucked here, but I guess was somehow worse there! they started out saying all the right things but I'm still friends with many and guess what? they forget now. they are Leftist and frustrated with all the things that make this area what it is. and they are becoming very politically powerful - they were already rich (comparable assets here are much less expensive than up there). so I'm looking at more and more of them coming here - to Chadds ford area and to up north by Eagles Mere - as they have been. and just those will be New York South and that is Not Good. so personally, I see the results firsthand. they do not become red pilled, not really. they are locusts. they do not appreciate things like horses or farms or the quiet things that make Chester County really great. those things are getting crushed, apparently "fox rights" are important unless you are driving over the poor things in your Lexus SUV. ==================== I hope the CIA ignores this message, as the President has done. If the Persians rise up and end the mullahs, I'm going to sheer them on, but if we do it (or Israel does), it's pretty easy to see bad collateral effects. Zoltan is a Hungarian name. I had two uncles with that name. Zoli for short.
Posted by: J.J. Sefton at June 25, 2025 09:13 AM (x0n13) Yep. When I was a kid, in the 50's, three older guys in my Hungarian church had the name Zoltan. And, Zoli was what the other adults called them. Heard that name many times over the years. Posted by: thatcrazyjerseyguy at June 25, 2025 09:44 AM (5xuJ/) 465

'Morning, all & thanks, J.J.
Some US/Iranian Naval history: The USS Trout (SS-566), a Tang class submarine, received orders in Dec. 1976 changing her home port to Philadelphia, PA. In 1977 and 1978, she underwent an extensive overhaul at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard (PNSY) in anticipation of a planned transfer to the Imperial Iranian Navy. Upon completion of the overhaul in 1978, Trout's home port was shifted to New London, CT where a training period for her the Iranian crew ensued. The training program was completed in Dec. 1978 and, on that day, the U.S. Navy simultaneously decommissioned Trout, struck her from the Naval Vessel Register, and transferred her to Iran. The Imperial Iranian Navy renamed her Imperial Iranian Ship (IIS) Kousseh (SS 101), meaning "Shark." Her Iranian crew took control of her at New London in December 1978, but abandoned her there in March 1979 following the Iranian Revolution. The Kousseh returned to PNSY where she languished for many years. She finally was returned officially to U.S. custody in 1992 & then sold at scrap value. Nov. 1, 1977, a second Tang class submarine, the USS Wahoo, SS-565, began training a crew from the Iranian Posted by: L - No nic, another fine day at June 25, 2025 09:59 AM (NFX2v) 467
Navy scheduled to take possession of her sister-ship, USS Trout, sometime the following year. That duty continued until the summer of 1978 when she began an extended overhaul at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard (July 6, 197

Wahoo was instead decommissioned on 27 June 1980 and cannibalized for parts for the other Tangs that were still in service to foreign governments. And so the political fracture began roughly half a century ago at a time when the United States was happily celebrating its Bicentennial, and after Jimmy Carter & Walter Mondale were voted in (Nov. 1976). 466 and 467. Wikipedia as one reference for most of the USS Trout and USS Wahoo information. Additionally, there were many other Naval sources available.
The Base Realignment and Closure Commission (BRAC) made the decision to cease naval operations at PNSY in 1991. PNSY and the bulk of Naval Station Philadelphia closed in 1995. (I was employed by/at both prior to their closing.) The US Navy maintains a (small) presence at the Navy Yard, operating Naval Ship Systems Engineering Station and the Naval Inactive Ship Maintenance Facility. The thing about Walsh's screed is that the history he cites is completely wrong.
Imperial Rome set borders at the Rhine, Danube, and Hadrian's Wall, and never eliminated the Parthians or Persians. Constantine managed a single re-conquest of Dacia but otherwise did not expand the empire. While he established his rule throughout the empire, his dynasty lasted less than sixty years. Bohemond established himself in the Levant, but the Crusades as a whole never came close to eliminating Islam. Napoleon's defeat of the mamelukes in Egypt endured all of 3 years, 2 months, and 1 day before they returned to power. As for Napoleon's French empire, we also know how long that endured. As for his citation of Clausewitz, he seems to have completely missed the parts about war, politics, and popular will, and that the "total war" Clausewitz wrote of was purely theoretical due to those factors. And then of course there is the issue of how all of those leaders cited along with Clausewitz himself were all accomplished with the ever popular "boots on the ground" and imply significantly more than a mere "forever war" to accomplish, bringing us right back to Clausewitz and will.
