My guess is posts on X that first load as a block of text, and then expand to a larger vertical footprint as they bring in the pictures and the text display of the actual post as rendered on X.

The links to posts on X here at AoSHQ seem to use the old twitter.com domain and I had to disable that domain in No-Script, and that solved the jumping around nonsense for me on my desktop. I also have some pretty serious ad-blocking set up on my desktop because I despise advertisements.

Trying with my phone instead of my desktop... Yeah, I'm seeing some jumping around when I load the ONT. King Harv's adverts also seem to cause some minor shifting around after the text of the post loads.

Solution: Let the page settle down first when you jump into a thread before trying to scroll and read (this will also need to be done every time you refresh the page to get new comments.)

My company is currently adding 'AI' to a product. It's the most important thing in the history of ever. People have to work crazy overtime to get it completed. Rules and procedures we've developed over the years to prevent bad things from happening have to be thrown out the window to meet an arbitrary announce date. Other product releases have to be put in jeopardy. And the release is being pushed back one week from normal to allow marketing to announce when they want.

Oh, yeah, and now we're scrambling to give customers the option to not install it because we've had several big customers say that they cannot install anything with 'AI'.

I have this issue. Are you on iphone/safari browser? Personally I think the culprit is the big ad bar that appears at bottom of the site. Started happening after that was added. If you are having too many problems, a sort of cheesy hack is to kill the page’s loading right when you get there then click comments link to read the full content of a post.

43 I took a look at OpenWRT's banana-pi based hardware router, and while it looks interesting, the price nearly doubles trying to get this thing into Canada due to tariffs. Ugh. No thanks, I'll stick with the hardware I have (TP-Link Archer C7 AC-1750 v5.0).

61 Looks like I'm headed into my last week of formal employment. Customer decided to axe all the subs to cut costs.

Things are grim for me finding another gig as a 70 YO engineer. I'm definitely not obsolete as I have seriously marketable skills but at some point it becomes damn near impossible to get past HR no matter how desperate the employer is for qualified people.

I got tossed out of the Space Center at 55 along with a bunch of other folks when they shut down the shuttle program. I've been working mostly as a sub since then.

My health as definitely deteriorated over the last couple of years so I don't think I can continue job hopping around the country anymore.

I did make it back to Brevard County where I have lived most of my life. I really like it here so I've got that going for me.

I'm pretty worried about acclimating to the real world because I'm a hard-core workaholic.

We’re having a brief reprieve from the pronoun, transgender , and microaggression nonsense. What businessperson in their right mind wants to deal with the fragility of today’s human mental illness and possibly get sued for an ambiguous discriminatory work environment laws.

Let’s face it, if the wrong party gets in political power again, they’re going right back to an anti-capitalist posture. I’m glad I’m on the back nine of life. Who has the energy for onerous regulation and laws that don’t make sense. Have you heard of xenopronouns? II ever unplugged the thing while using it I’d guesstimate I’ll get about 4 hours on battery at most.

It already sound like a Dustbuster vacuum at full load so I have no idea how they are going to cool double the cores in a 52 core version.
