THE MORNING RANT: Local Tennessee News of National Importance – 6/23/2025

Newspaper - Local News - National Importance.JPG

Much like the Powerline guys reporting on Minnesota stories that have national significance, I’d like to report on a few things going on here in Tennessee that have importance beyond the state.

President Trump Fires Another Climate Cultist from TVA’s Board

Donald Trump has just fired another radical left-wing climate cultist from the Board of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), the utility which provides electricity to seven states in the South. This is the 3rd radical ecovangelist appointed by Joe Biden that Trump has removed from TVA’s board.

“President Trump fires third TVA board member since March” [WATE Knoxville – 6/11/2025]

Beth Geer was appointed in 2023 by President Biden (or more likely by his handlers) and her tenure on the TVA board was supposed to go through 2026.

How radical is she? Very radical, as documented in this story from the Chattanooga newspaper a few days ago:

"I believe that carbon pollution is a public health emergency," Geer said. "When the health and safety of our communities, children and grandchildren are at stake, we must act ... and we must move quicker to address the climate crisis."

Geer, who chaired the board committee in charge of executive pay incentives, celebrated at a meeting in November a new payout incentive based on how quickly TVA expands renewable energy.

"We need to go further, faster on our renewable energy goals," Geer said in May 2024. "We hear you, we see you, we are working on it. I just want to say that out loud."

"One item that was very important to me as we develop goals this year was to ensure that we are, in fact, incentivizing management to increase carbon free resources."

Those of us who rely on the TVA for electricity dodged a bullet with Donald Trump’s election.

And by the way, the “true conservatives” at National Review and the rest of Conservative, Inc. got their way when Joe Biden was “elected” President in 2020. Biden then stuffed TVA’s board with radical anti-carbonists. In 2024, National Review and Conservative, Inc. again worked to defeat Donald Trump (to “save conservatism” and thereby elect Kamala Harris. She would have not only kept Biden’s TVA appointees, but added more “net zero” zealots to it.

Donald Trump flushing the climate communists out of the TVA is actual, real-life conservatism in action. Meanwhile, as I scan National Review and their Twitter feeds, I see that Dan and Charlie et al are having the vapors over Donald Trump’s handling of Tik Tok, which violates some sacred penumbra of “true conservatism,” yet they were perfectly willing to let Biden and Kamala inflict the left’s decarbonization agenda on residents of the Tennessee Valley. If that is “principled conservatism,” please give me Donald Trump’s unprincipled version instead.

Parking Garage Fire in Nashville Causes Structural Damage

There is an emerging trend of parking garage fires that are so intense that they cause structural damage to the building itself. Just a month ago I wrote about the massive fire at a garage at Jacksonville’s airport. It was so intense that it caused a partial collapse of the structure. The vehicle that started the Jacksonville fire is was a BMW, but the ATF has still not confirmed if it was an EV / plug-in hybrid. I have my suspicions.

Just a few days ago, there was another massive fire at a public parking garage in Nashville. It too was so intense that it caused a partial collapse of the structure. In fact, the damage is so extensive that the adjacent downtown library has been closed for at least a month due to damage.

“Nashville Public Library to close for nearly a month after garage fire” [Tennessean – 6/16/2025]

The cause is still being determined, but the intensity of the fire gives a clue. Also, much of the fleet where the fire started belonged to a left-wing public agency committed to all the sustainable, green nonsense that is associated with promoting EVs.

The garage, owned by the Nashville Department of Transportation and operated by the Nashville Downtown Partnership, provided access to the Downtown library branch and the Renaissance Hotel on Commerce Street.

Fire crews responded to the garage at about 1:30 a.m. to find multiple upper floors of the structure in flames. Many of the Downtown Partnership's vehicles were parked on the top floor. A ramp between the fourth and fifth floors collapsed and several beams on the same floor were damaged, officials said.

I continue to follow both of these garage fires. I’ll let you know if/when it is confirmed that these were ignited by EVs.

Radical, Left-Wing, Bureaucratic Waste at the University of Tennessee

An employee at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, specifically a person with the job title “Content Strategy Manager for UT Knoxville’s Division of Student Life,” is publicly likening Donald Trump’s policies to the Holocaust, stating that, “the events happening in the US are identical to what happened in 1930s Germany.”

Deep-red Tennessee is using Tennessee tax dollars (and student tuition) to pay this woman’s salary so that she can have a platform to make those slanderous charges.

Several elected officials have contacted the university’s President, Randy Boyd, advising him he’d better sit on that zoo faculty of his.

A better message to send to President Boyd would be for the legislature to cut the university’s budget while freezing tuition. So long as the payroll includes a Content Strategy Manager for the Division of Student Life who accuses the U.S. of being Nazi Germany, there is plenty of room for belt tightening at the University of Tennessee.

My Latest Piece at The Blaze – “Philanthropaths”

My latest piece at The Blaze has been published, “Meet the ‘philanthropaths’ spending billions to kill the American dream.” It discusses the existential threat we face from sociopathic billionaires (“philanthropaths” who are using their fortunes as a weapon to tear down western civilization.

So yes, I’m more open to separating sociopathic billionaires from their wealth than I once was. I still believe in economic liberty. But liberty doesn’t mean allowing radicalized aristocrats to fund our destruction.

It’s behind a paywall, but if you’re a Blaze subscriber, I’d be honored if you’d give it a read.

What have you done to stop the slow-motion genocide of the Uyghurs happening in China right now? What have you done about the slavery in Qatar, where over 1000 perished building the spiffy new World Cup stadium? And more close to home, where is your concern for the children who've been trafficked over our open Southern border for years, with apparently 300k unaccounted for/missing?

If you really cared about current day Holocausts, you'd think this would have crossed your radar.

I'm pretty sure, in addition to cat videos, what gets posted are videos being shared of people talking, and the person making the TikTok puts dog ears on the person talking in the video, makes faces and points at the person.

So if it's, say Cummala Harris talking, and the poster puts dog ears on Cummala, and makes faces, as if to say Cummala is stoopid, that's very influential on young voters.

MIGA by Airstrike: Israel Targets Tehran’s Grip on Power

Israeli strikes also hit intelligence and security police offices tied to internal surveillance and control.

According to the IDF, these sites are central to Iran’s military and regime enforcement apparatus. Damaging them weakens both their operational capability and internal grip on power.

You can find more reports today just like this one: "Several Basij officers were killed when a building at their eastern Tehran headquarters was completely leveled. These forces are tasked with suppressing dissent and enforcing regime control."

Basij serves as one of the regime's secret police forces.

Tehran's Evin Prison is — or rather was — a symbol of the regime's ruthlessness, just like the Bastille in pre-revolutionary France or Lefortovo prison in Moscow.

Now the front door stands wide open.

140 My only concern would be -- despite the ChiComms,, GloboHomo, and other anti-American fellow travelers pushing actual disinformation and propaganda via numerous other means (including of course our own MDM-MSM), the open sanctioning & promotion of a platform that happily admits it and corrupts the thinking of young people (similar to push-polling).

I guess I just figure that cat's already out of the barn. We're not going to put the toothpaste back in the tuba.

Everything is brainwashing. I guess I can kinda understand why some people don't want Chi Nah doing it, but when it's our own oligarchs and the commies in media and academia, or the CIA, or... you know, lobby groups from other foreign countries, I don't really see the point of singling out Chi Nah and some stupid app.

149 In a scenerio with no nuclear and no gas/oil/coal power the masses would be subsistence farming and the elites would have a lower standard of living than now but they would be lording it over a bunch of servants. I don't know if they crave that power if they are just so stupid they don't understand that even if you are that very upper tier that can afford servants life would still be much rougher than what we all get now with affordable energy to power heat and A/C and so on.

160 Because the events happening in the US are identical to what happened in 1930s Germany

Yes, as everybody knows from their history books the Nazis were infamous for deporting gang members from Tren de Aragua and Haitians and Hondurans and Guatemalans, and Mexican cartel members because the Kaiser had let in millions of them before Hitler came to power and decided to Make Germany Great Again.

I'm honestly shocked how nobody hasn't noticed the obvious similarities before Beth Hall Davis had to point it out to all of us.

She,born of the industrial revolution, had not held as conceivable, had forgotten along with the tales of astrology and alchemy, what these men knew in their secret, furtive souls, knew not by means of thought, but by means of that nameless muck which they called their instincts and emotions: that so long as men struggle to stay alive, they'll never produce so little but that the man with the club won't be able to seize it and leave them still less, provided millions of them are willing to submit—that the harder their work and the less their gain, the more submissive the fiber of their spirit—that men who live by pulling levers at an electric switchboard, are not easily ruled, but men who live by digging the soil with their naked fingers, are—that the feudal baron did not need electronic factories in order to drink his brains away out of jeweled goblets, and neither did the rajahs of the People's State of India.

Don't forget your smart tv or if you are sloppy about permissions, other things like computer cameras with microphones, etc.

That being said, it is relatively easy to 'dirty' your algorithm feed by giving misleading answers to customer surveys, randomly searching via web browsers, and by not using spyware like Microsoft 11 and/or shutting down Copilot and the idiotic default saving to clouds (it is installing on Windows 10 now as an update to convince Windows 10 users to migrate to Windows 11 I guess).

Some email providers also allow the customer to create alias emails where required by websites that can further dirty your algorithmic feed.

Then, there are services like Optery, Privacy Bee, and Aura among others that seek out private data brokers and kill your information being shared out and sold.

Depends on challengers, the district demo, etc. The problem for Massie is if Trump causes a well heeled challenger to enter the race. Justin Amash during Trump's first term FAFO and lost his seat because of it.

Open Borders, tax hikes, not attacking clear and present dangers like Iran's nuclear program, and other pseudo libertarian might play well with the NR crowd but not necessarily with ex-urban Lexington , Cincinnati, and Louisville voters.

An iconoclast like Walter Jones in NC can manage to stay in office for awhile because he focused his maverick image on opposing Bush's nationbuilding idiocy and he was a former military officer.

But being an maverick in all things and a PITA for House leadership plus the Presidency on must pass legislation rarely leads to good things for the person unwise enough to challenge. Even the original Maverick McCain was not stupid enough to oppose tax cuts during Trump's first term for example.

233 Hey, Buck. I live in Tennessee, too, and like you, I've seen a LOT of fake 'Republicans' in office, doing their Termite Thing.

Around here, people with leftwing ideas run for office as independents, or more often, as liars who claim to be conservative as long as it takes to get elected, then get in there and start chewing the support beams. So our Republican "super-majority" in the legislature is somewhat illusory.

Brandon Lewis runs a great newsletter, Tennessee Conservative, that tracks all this. Free to subscribe, and donations appreciated. https://tennesseeconservativenews.com/

The problem ultimately with subsidizing and enabling massive commercial investments is that the locust cloud people descend on your locality/state. These are people in it because they get paid, not because they particularly care about a state or locality. So they flock to the hot spots wherever globo homo alights for awhile as 'hot' areas.

Seen this happen over and over again--when the 'hot' area cools off, then inevitably the locust people fly away to the latest 'hot' spot.

Local and state governments are never satisfied subsidizing and supporting the indigenous local businesses in growing in place. Instead, for publicity and grifting purposes, they are always on the lookout for the mega corps that inevitably love the locality and then leave it.

292 My latest piece at The Blaze has been published, “Meet the ‘philanthropaths’ spending billions to kill the American dream.” It discusses the existential threat we face from sociopathic billionaires (“philanthropaths” who are using their fortunes as a weapon to tear down western civilization.

Unfortunately that describes about 95% of billionaires. Maybe the slavish devotion the Right (including many morons here) has towards “protecting” billionaires isn’t a good thing.

I'm so tired of clicking on bicycles, motorcycles, traffic lights and busses.

Do I click on the square with the tiny sliver of the rear view mirror on it?

Do I click on the guy's body, because his ass is connecting to the seat of the motorcycle right at the edge of a box?

Do I click on that tiny traffic light way off in the distance that most people missed, but I didn't, and if I click on it because I see it, will I get screwed because most people didn't?

Invariably I always guess wrong and have to do the entire thing over again.

I miss the days where they gave you a street sign and all you had to do was type in the numbers and letters so their AI could learn from humans doing the work for them on the hard ones.

As a general rule, regarding politicians, if one finds themselves acting like a defense attorney for their favorite congress critter, the reality to others is often that they are a slimy scumbag.

Never fall in love with a political candidate, they will ALWAYS break your heart for raison d'etat.
It is always choosing between the lesser of evils in a representative democracy. I prefer King Log to King Stork (Aesop's Fables) personally but obviously that is rarely the case. Instead we have to pick between a fat King Stork that has already engorged itself on the poor frogs versus a lean and hungry one.

Yeah, 1) they hate Israel, and say this was "for Israel." And 2) they think this means "War!"

No, this was just a bombing of a shithole country with a shitty regime.

You don't run a country on poll numbers. You do what you believe is right and let the cards fall where they may.

Poll numbers are the bane of politics.

360 That's rich coming from a country that breaks every agreement it makes and has been threatening to invade Taiwan for 50 years.

Currently China is ignoring a World Court decision regarding islands and economic rights in the South China Sea.

Communism comes down to might makes right and hypocrisy/lies when they lack the sufficient 'might' to get what they want. Stalin and mustache man are a prime example. Both intended to plunder and pillage the other but mustache man was better prepared to do it to Stalin before Stalin could do it to him.

This is precisely what I’m talking about. You want to pretend any opposing views to yours are “just a stupid fag saying things”. Get out of the bubble dude. There are a ton of people saying this.

Forever war is not a popular thing anymore. Neither is the Cold War mentality.

Both parties masturbated at the idea of sending American troops to Ukraine for years and never did it because the politics is so bad.

Doubt Trump does it in Iran.

Ok that’s fine. I don’t disagree with this. We elect leaders to lead not to do what polls say. No issues there.

But the problem is a lot of war hawks assume they’re in the majority. They’re not. And when polls do show it, they throw out the “poles are for strippers” stuff because they’re in the bubble.

Posted by: Its Go Time Donald at June 23, 2025 12:36 PM (/CkK4)

And of course the retort here will be who cares what they say? They’re just dumb comedians. Ok maybe they are. But they’re very influential. Remember the whole podcast election?

As much as ai love this place it can get very insular and in its own bubble.

There's a poll out that says 74% approve of Trump bombing Iran's nuke sites.

There's plenty of opinion on the net, but 74% is a damn good number, and I don't mind not being in the 25% on this one.

Iran had it coming.
Moreso than Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and Syria, the mullahs had it coming.

Even the Saudis have chilled out with their jihadis in the last decade or so.

But Iran keeps on keeping on with their B.S., and they have finally figured out what time it is.

Le'ts wait and see what Joe Rogan thinks, though.

I know I always check with podcasters, comedians and talking heads before I can approve of any important decision made by the president.

“Iran is harmed, but also harmed is U.S. credibility — as a country and as a party to any international negotiations,” Fu Cong, China’s ambassador to the United Nations, told China’s state broadcaster on Sunday.

How about you trot out the Tiananmen Square shopping bag guy and let us hear his opinion on this matter?

We'll wait.

370 I keep trying to wrap my brain around what kind of adult humans would make their prez vote based on TikTok.
Posted by: LinusVanPelt

Hmm idk, I think it’s an organic process. People are bored, looking for entertainment. They’re easy prey for hunters. TikTok starts off being sort of just silly but has grown to include infotainment. Think magazines of the digital age. The good ones kept people flipping pages.

I also think people have more anxiety than ever and if someone presents things in a funny way or in a space they already associate with humor, it makes hard things easier to deal with. Comedians could be really good salespeople.

371 "Donald Trump flushing the climate communists out of the TVA is actual, real-life conservatism in action."

I think the key to success for Trump is to increase congressional majorities in the midterms, and the key to THAT is to make as much change as fast as possible, to give the positive results a chance to appear and make a difference!

All substantive change with draw immediate fire from the DeMedia, and that has to be pushed out of the headlines by even newer change until positive results can be realized. Go hard and go fast- no half measures!
