Of course the following was written before last night's Iran strike. Rumor has it that Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) is now waving an "I Stand With Iran" banner.

When you think of nationally elected democratic representatives and senators what do you think?

Do you think of them as entitled, self-absorbed pond scum sucking weasels? If you do, who am I to judge!

Do you think of them as hypocritical, self-serving, power hungry scavengers? If your answer is yes. You are not alone.

Since November 7, 2024 it is nearly impossible to keep tabs on their immature behavior.

Which leads me to the fvcking stupid Hank Johnson of Georgia. Yes, that Hank Johnson, the Intellectual Wizard of Georgia's 4th District.

He certainly isn't a financial guru. Or is he so honest he refuses the sweet nectar of graft and corruption?

Has Rep. Johnson ever been serious a day in his legislative life? How in the fvck can you take this piece of ass wipe seriously?

Oil is fungible so it would hit us - indirectly. But one side effect of this would be for TX oil fields to dramatically increase the rig count.

I dispute those figures just based on the population figures of 18 and over , the percentage of registered voters and the total votes. Simple math shows it's 90% plus. The only variable that would change it is the percentage of registered voters. It would have to be somewhere in the range of 85-90% of eligible voters were registered. Normally the percentage is between 70-75%.

Mr. Massie does not know what he is talking about. Yes, Congress has the power to declare war. That does NOT mean no military action takes place without it. (Were those who fought back at Pearl Harbor in Contempt of Congress?) War declarations are the abode of diplomats, not the military.

In fact, circa 1980 the idea was floated to declare war against Iran in order to force the country to recognize diplomatic protocols in regards to the embassy. Never mind that they trashed the Vienna Convention of 1961, Article 22, 24 and 45. Why they would have changed their minds in the event of a war declaration is beyond me. Which is probably why it wasn't tried.

362 So basically, closing the straits severely hurts pretty much everybody who was ridiculous enough to condemn the action, but the US - not so much. The Gulf Arab states, Europe, and especially China.

Except that oil is fungible. It would sting for a bit - until, say, TX spins up oil production. Currently its active rig count is low. I'm sure this is the same for much of North America.

So if the Strait is closed, it will put a short term strain on supplies until more oil can be brought online - effective everybody for a time until supply can be increased.

363 Iran would be hurting itself more than anybody trying to close the Strait of Hormuz.

All of their oil, the majority of it heading to China, goes through the strait.

The only benefit they'd get is higher oil prices as a result (Russia & Venezuela & OPEC would love it).

That won't do them any good if they can't produce and sell the product.
